A really sad song with very powerful lines. Even if Eminem currently regrets having done this song, it's noticeable he needed to vent out his feelings at the time, and this was HIS way.
He is right, this is not a diss song. There is just so much pain in every lyric. At the same time, Em has come a long way. He raised a beautiful daughter and broke the cycles of abuse and depression in his family. He survived his substance issues to walk his daughter down the isle. Now he is gonna be a granpa. Way to go Em
He is always the G.O.A.T. of rap music and he will be the greatest grandpa and I can't believe he raised 2 kids that was not his that shows you that he is that of guy he has been thought so much much and is going to be there for all of his kids I can't believe Hailey Jude is 28 years old and already married and going to be a Mom I know she will be the greatest Mom and he will be the greatest grandpa I hope Hailey Jude and her husband know that the first kid is the best because you now know you are a real family and I wish Hailey Jude and her husband the best and a happy marriage and I know there are more to come! Good job on raising the kids the right way
I hate that people are trying to cancel him over these lyrics. He's obviously venting here as an abuse survivor, and bareing his heart here. The lyric about his wife and kid, he isn't saying it like he was proud to have thoughts like that, he's obviously hurt by even having those thoughts and is owning up to it. Trauma is a bitch and we shouldn't be judging him for trying to heal and having a hard time.

The first song that I heard of Em, and it clicked right away with me. I love my mom more than anything, and she's saved my life countless times. The way Em described his life in this song showed me how invaluable a loving parent truly is. This is not just a song, but the pure message of a heartbroken child. How tragic and true, and touching.
@@aodhan7 don't worry about genre, there's so much amazing music out there, that you can click with, regardless what type of music it is. And no, I don't think you were "too stupid". It took me a lot of time to understand some songs too, it only depends on what clicks with you in that moment. I know so many rock songs that do the same thing for me like Eminem does. Trust that the right music will find you in at the right time
This music video always brought up complicated emotions in me as a kid. I was just 10 in 2002 but seeing him essentially burying his mom made me think about the unthinkable weight of one day losing my own mom, and the regret I carried in how often I made her mad at me. This was the only piece of music I can remember that made me look inward and face the tensions at home, and no other artist had that effect on me. English not being my first language, I thought he literally meant he was finally cleaning up his room, which I took to heart as well and thought about ways I could better myself. Eminem played a serious role in my childhood. When he appeared on MTV, I sat down and listened carefully to his latest artistic broadcast.
A few of us in Gen Z were blessed to grow up with Eminem, and I'm amazed at how much these songs draw comment activity even to this day. This man truly is a Rap God
Personally I'm not much into rap or hip hop, more of a rocker, but Eminem is one of my all time favorite artist because there is so much meaning behind his lyrics
As a man who recently uncovered some serious repressed trauma that my mother had no small part in, this song has taken on a whole new meaning for me. I feel the pain he is putting out in this song in my very heart
Damn. Listening to him still gets me to tear up. He’s a legend, a broken man, and someone whom I have great respect for. Let’s all take a moment daily to Think about Eminem and listen to his songs
Same here Bruh everytime I hear this song my eyes well up this songs resonates with me so much Eminem keeping it 💯 as always..much love and respect to Slim Shady
Just wandering, why think of Emminem every Day with this song? When You do that, you'll think of his f****** b**** mom every they too. Negative attention is also attention. And too much for her. Don't You think?
Even when eminem was at his lowest without even support from his mother he still didn't give up and made it back to being one of the best rappers that's truly amazing
@@beetlejuice146 not all songs do it good though or at all. That’s the thing, that Eminem isn’t just telling a story but he’s telling it good, in fact, awesome
I think there's nothing wrong with this song, Its the greatest. He just a kid, he's hurt, he's alone, he never felt love in his family. Its ok to let it out, it doesn't mean to hurt her mother, he just want her mother to know how he felt all those years.
That cycle of trauma is so hard to break, and on top of Em being amazing at what he does, glad to see he was able to break those chains and give Hailey a good life.

I loved Eminem as a kid, but due to the age and language barrier at that time, it was hard to fully grasp the message. As an adult, every song is more meaningful. Amazing.

@@TristanGraham-ie6un This is a fact. My "mother" chose other things over her own daughter (me). My dad raised me and he passed when I was 17. I have a beautiful 10.5 year old daughter and she knows NONE of her momma's childhood heartache.
Nowadays he says he wouldn't do this song again but heck.. I feel every word. I know it's maybe not the best song for him, all those feelings and emotions but we can feel them. He made this song out of his heart and I'm actually glad that he did. Thank you so much, Eminem.
Nah. He would 1000% make this song today, unless Dr Dre’s stock holders wouldnt allow it. But even with old age, Slim still HATES his mom. Only reason she got clean is because of the money she got from him in the settlement. But he still kept the kids away from her so despite being rich, she was alone in the end. And they only reconciled because Em in his older age didnt wanna keep his kids from her despite her deserving it. So he basically took the high road
No Doubt! This Was The First time I'd Heard Someone sing about A Home Life I Had!! & For Awhile Back Before 'o4 was A Huge Fan!.. But Not so much Anymore!.
he is the best rapper, his songs transcends to a level where you cant touch him, his story, his fight, his point, everything about this dude is fucking incredible;)
What surprises me about Eminem is that he's a good father despite having a rough fucking childhood. He literally broke the rope and gave his daughters a good education (mainly the emotional one). I remember the interviews that Eminem gave and when he referred to his mother you could feel all the damage that his mother did to him. But I think that the good comes out of the bad, and today it seems to me that the son and mother are having a peaceful relationship. More than anything to be able to throw away the past.
Really makes you wonder what she did. I used to like this song, but my mom is a good mom. Listening to this just now I couldn't help but think "damn", I'd f*ck somebody up for messing with my mom but he couldn't care less about his (at this time)
I just wanna spend one day with Eminem. Make him talk about his life, his career, his everything. That's one of my biggest dreams. He is such a great person, amazing talent also has suffered enough. Love him forever.
I love his voice n this song so in touch I can feel how eminem go through because I went to that shit too ! How could I wish to feel what's "mother love is"
+rany s brown Ikr... Today I saw a meme a lot of my friends shared on Facebook... It said "your mother held your hand while you were making your first steps, so hold her hand when she's making her last steps". I mean it's nice and stuff, but not relatable for me at all. My older sister held my hand when I did my first steps while my mother was laying on the couch drinking and taking pills. Glad I'm out of that environment now.
It's a miracle that Em came through that mess as well as he has. It's absolutely amazing that he became such a good father. My childhood was a lot like his. It would've been easier to cave under the pain and dysfunction. But he chose a different path. Brilliant artist. Strong, humble man. ❤
To channel all that pain into brilliant art is what saved him and gifted the world with a true, original artist. He could so easily have went down a much more destructive path and would probably be dead now. Thank God he didn't ❤
"See, what hurts me the most is you won't admit you was wrong." This is the pain of every human being who would have been better off being raised by someone else. No mother who deserves to grow old alone will ever admit they could and should have done better.
I am a 60 ye old mother who has listened to this song a hundred times to understand a childs pain that is caused by dysfunctional parenting and I must say I have mad mad mad respect for this artist everysingle lyric and beat of this song touches my soul. Im so glad he has evolved into one of the greatest rappers and humbliest human beings of all time .the world is a better place because u shared your profound talent with the world
I grew up exact same way expect my mom wasn't into popping pills and I wasn't a rap star but everything else was the same. My mom would shop around for different doctors and send me there all of it was because of her resentment towards my dad. I had to leave the house at 15 I couldn't take the abuse anymore. My mom wanted desperately for a Dr to say that I was sick and it's sad because the medical system failed me so hard it should of been flagged in their system. The damage she committed had lasting damage even at 35 I don't trust very many people.
A really sad song with very powerful lines.

I identify with this song. I had to cut my Mom lose, she was and still is TOXIC to my mental health

What surprises me about Eminem is that he's a good father despite having a rough fucking childhood. He literally broke the rope and gave his daughters a good education (mainly the emotional one). I remember the interviews that Eminem gave and when he referred to his mother you could feel all the damage that his mother did to him.
