    Wow these are cool. I an avid rock hound for 60 years and have several small pieces of petrified wood .Could I place a eye hook or something so I could suspend them from a piece of driftwood ? I have thousands of agates etc.. Thanks so much for this❤

      Completely. I would think you could either do it when you pour it or drill a pilot hole and screw it in after. Awesome!

    I love this. My goal when I get older is to have a camper and to travel around and collect rocks!

    • @OuterLimitsOpenRoad
      @OuterLimitsOpenRoad  ปีที่แล้ว

      That is basically my life other than you find out quickly you can't keep many rocks in your camper because they're heavy. So I catch and release!

    ❤ they all look beautifull, and the small ones would look cool 😎 as christmas baubles on a tree. It might even be possible to drill a hole and put a LED light in them just a couple of ideas I has while watching you.

    I can’t wait to try this! I have so many rocks and had run out of things to do with them. Two questions for you: where did you get your resin and also the molds?

      Hi Deborah. I haven't had that but I see a lot of chatter about it online, so you're not alone. I think you can address it. Found this resincraftsblog.com/how-to-fix-cloudy-resin-projects/

    Thanks so much for this video. Have been collecting river rocks now polishing them but have always loved the idea of resin. Do you prepolish rocks before casting to get the color or just if you want a different shape?

    • @OuterLimitsOpenRoad
      @OuterLimitsOpenRoad  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      My pleasure. I don't polish mine if they are going into resin. But nothing precludes you from doing that. I do hand polish my favorite rocks to enjoy and save the ones I don't polish for these balls. They will look however they did under the water.

    I have my last "catch" in my car. I need to clean them off. Now before I get to excited, are resin and epoxy resin the same thing? I heard you said both, but not sure. SO... I'm highly allergic to
    "epoxy resin". That's how it's on the forms. Do you know if there are any alternative. I could wear gloves, but I'm really sensitive to smells. Thanks so much. I'm studying this on all my pages! I've lived on both sides of the Mitten. Rocks are a way of life, here. 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

    • @OuterLimitsOpenRoad
      @OuterLimitsOpenRoad  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Epoxy Resin is what I'm using. I don't perceive any smells, but I know that is different from odors. I'm using the words interchangeably but it's epoxy resin like Art Resin. I used Envirotex Lite a lot for other art but it doesn't hold up to thick pours, so you have to make sure it works for casting in molds. What about an N95 mask? I always get it on my hands and use alcohol and soap to remove it. But since you're allergic, gloves for sure and disposable cups. I don't know of anything as a replacement. When you wash your finds, make sure you give them time to dry well so you don't trap moisture inside. I hope you can try this, but safety first.

    How do you know how much resin you will need, please?

    • @soapcakes
      @soapcakes 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I tend to underestimate and whip up a little more if needed. There is time to do that. If it were straight forward you could fill with water and measure but since it's full of rocks obviously you don't need as much. I'm basically guessing and making more so I don't waste.
