If they've gotta turn off because they need to be entertained, they're watching the wrong video. These are for those of us with the ability to concentrate.😊 Thank you for sharing your wisdom.
MR you just help me revive my favorite 999 game sin one,a tiny keychain but this one brins 3 lanes car games and SNAKE!!! i could never found anything modern of this quality. i am forever grateful
I have an old Sky remote and have to clean the board regularly to get four of the buttons to work. They work for a few days and then stop again. Never heard of the graphite fix before. Just going to dismantle it now and see how I get on. Fingers crossed :)
Nice ! I had good results by adding a small amount of glue on the rubber and then scraping some grafite on to it with a knife and let it dry before reassembling. Works for years. Maybe glue isnt nessecary ? I will try that next time.
That's a very useful tip. It seems so obvious in hindsight, but it's probably not a fix I would have thought about straight away. By the way, what concentration are you using for the iso-propyl alcohol when cleaning electronics? As pure as possible? Or does the diluted worktop sanitiser kind (around 45% by volume) work equally well?
I use 99.9% IPA, it's reasonably cheap (5L for around £10). I wouldn't use alcohol based sanitiser as is water and 'unknowns' that may actually cause damage.
I get mine from this seller on eBay, the price has gone up but they do sell in smaller quantities. First rate service and product. rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F131448316277
Just curious, had you already diagnosed that the problem was the buttons before the video (opened it up, checked the components and such) or were you just confident that was the issue? Also, would the powdered graphite sold in tubes be easier to use or just make a mess?
I knew that it wasn't a power issue as it turned on when the batteries were inserted. I don't diagnose faults physically beforehand, I have an ICE and run with it lol. Powdered graphite would work bit to be honest I've never had any problems using the method shown.
Hi wonder if you could help I bought a floureon cctv system 8 channel installed all camera fitted a 1tg hard drive switched it on loaded up then went blank screen nothing we tried everything even rebooting it through flash drive nothing
Kris Cochrane we tried hdmi lead straight to my main TV didn't work then tried vga that didn't work neither even tried connecting to my laptop still nothing
I agree about the prices in Maplins but I still used them occasionally as they could be handy if you needed a component pronto! My son sent me this link which I found amusing! www.thedailymash.co.uk/news/business/dads-hold-candlelight-vigil-for-maplin-20180301145163

Nice tip for coating the pad.

The graphite is a great tip.
Brilliant! Thanks.

where do you get it Kris? i keep meaning to get some for cleaning boards etc - not least for my sky remote which seems to have grease on the pcb.

ta! noticed maplin have it going "cheap" www.maplin.co.uk/p/isopropyl-alcohol-1-litre-re71n
the scale is [hard] >decreasing number ... 3H, 2H, HB, 2B 3B .... increasing number> [soft]
US viewers know HB as #2... for some reason lol

How do you have it connected?
Kris Cochrane we tried hdmi lead straight to my main TV didn't work then tried vga that didn't work neither even tried connecting to my laptop still nothing
It's usually because the resolution is too high for the display. Is it a modern TV? I.E. is it full HD?
Kris Cochrane yes is I think so if we put it on to a smaller TV but why is it not working on laptop neither
I'm confused...are you plugging the box into your laptop via HDMI?

Are you pushing down on the button and coating the central pad or coating the whole pad
The former, ideally just coat the black dot.
