I got the Cobra Wolf and Ice Viper as a gift for Christmas 1987 and it was so totally awesome to have and play with. I loved everything about it and by far my most favorite G.I. Joe snow vehicle. Great review of one of my favorite G.I. Joe toy vehicle.

Awesome review, HCC. Got this for Christmas about 1988. We get quite a lot of snow in northern England so I had this straight out in the garden with the Snowcat.

This must have been really fun to play with in the snow. I don't remember playing with it in the snow. We did get snow back then, but we usually kept the Joe battles indoors in the winter.

Great review I love the cobra wolf. They desperately needed an arctic vehicle. And this was the premier one

Ah Hoodie! We love you so. And we love this toy! Bigtime. It was a childhood fave and Ice Viper, thanks to his weapons and balaclava'd head was redubbed "Ice Ninja"! So you were bang on with that explanation. The previous owner of your WOLF screwed up the sticker placement however! Those instrument stickers go on the inside of the cockpits on the flat instrument screens.

Love your vids! Great fun review! The Polar Battle Bear needed steerable skis in the front as their was only on set of tracks in the back. The WOLF had a set of tracks on either side, and the two joysticks confirm movement and steering was accomplished through directional rotation of each track.
Now, retracting said tracks (I will successfully suspend disbelief) leaves the occupants in a precarious situation:
"Are you sure you are pointed in the direction we need to go?"
    "Yes"
"Are you positive nothing is in our path on our way down the K-12, I heard a paperboy went off a steep drop?"
    "YES!!!"
    "Ok, retracting tread."
    "Dude??"
    "Yeah"
"You were joking about using that special non-stick coating on the back skis, right?"
    "........"
    "Right?!?!?"
Early the next morning, Wal-mart employees arrived to find a huge hole in the front of the store and the mangled remains of what appeared to be some type of snow mobile. Leading up to the hole was 50 ft of scorched blacktop and a 10 foot wide swath which disappeared up the mountain.

hmmm i think u overpraise the driver...and under sell the vehicle. sure the vehicle has its quirks...but i kinda feel like it fits cobra to a "t" and i like its aramament. I LOVE the concealed missle rack, and while the double cockpit is weird...it does add something. bottom of the top tier to me! I honestly understand ur praise for the figure...and by no means am i saying its a bad figure..but its prolly a ninja reissue. A solid figure nontheless but not top tier material my friend!!! :-D

Great review, you brought back a lot of good memories from Christmas vacation 1987. I spent most of that week building a Cobra polar base out of piles of snow and conducting routine perimeter patrols with The Wolf. Sounds boring but I could not have been happier. It even had its own hollowed-out hangar bay that I'd park it in while I went inside to warm up. Truly the mark of a great toyline when it allows for this kind of youthful interaction with the world and helps build these kinds of memories.

To answer your question about the Ice Viper's Sais, I read an article that said they were used to scrape the ice off the Wolf's windows. Therefore the Ice Viper wasn't a ninja like Storm Shadow.

It was a small disaster because we lost our train tree times & our trip ends on small cake bar on 10 PM ... So maybe next time when you will have winter season you could come here ...

Something that gets missed is the versatility of the Ice Viper helmet. It can be worn up so you can see his eyes, but you can also tilt it down so the goggles on the helmet perfectly fit over his eyes so he looks like he does on the box art.
I always loved those sorts of little details they put into some figures

    • @shermanvermin76

I'm aware this doesn't answer your question, but I do like *two* versions of him - his 1988 outfit (where he has auburn hair, and wears a white snowsuit) and his 1991 UK exclusive Tiger Force repaint (where he has black hair, and, this sounds silly, wears a *yellow* snowsuit!)
Now to answer your question - yes, I do know what you mean, that Blizzard *should* be in the winter line up.

Those sai are ideal to remove ice off the windshield after a freezing rain. They are a hoot on Canada QVC. I've always thought the Ice Viper helmet was very Darth Vader-y.

    • @HCC788
      @HCC788  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I loved my Cobra Wolf & Ice Viper. Played with it In summer, fall, spring, and yes winter. The Ski-pedoes worked very well in snow and the Wolf slid down hills I built for it to ambush my snow cat. It worked very well in the Ski mode. Although I never understood why the side skis were removable. The Ice Viper had one more play feature the HCC missed. His helmet could be lowered to simulate goggles on / goggles off .

I loved the wolf and owned 2, sadly I only had 1 snow serpent to accompany them.
the serpents were not easy to find, and although it snowed here,
in 85, I was not sure that Hasbro would expend the arctic combat theaters much,
I regretted that choice a lot when the wolf came out.
a white hiss release would have been quite smart in this period from Hasbro.
