      Can’t compare man. TKD is mostly on kicking and in-air moves. 360 kick, triple, double-sided, most of them are done in air. Punches are also used, but less. Boxing is focusing on punches though. To KO TKD, you first have to control your opponent from doing things in the air. In boxing, you can’t actually control them.

    To be specific, i am a boxer, i've been boxing for almost 3 years. Even though with some experience, I can say that boxing is helpful for those who don't want them to lose street/local fight. I had a friend who trained for taekwondo for an year. He can also fight decently. But when it comes to a street fight scenario, boxing is better than taekwondo. Taekwondo is really a good martial art if you are intrested in it. My friend said that since he started the training, he feels like he is improved in his overall life. And also boxing too.Every matrial arts has there own qualities. Using them at the perfect time is what makes them special. Competitions are really cool, especially when you have less confidence. Even if you lose in it, you'll not disagree the fact that you just fought. Better learn martial arts, its not about how good the martial arts is, its about how good you are...
    Well learning both Boxing and Taekwondo would change the whole matter tho.

      I think that any experienced TKD athlete won’t let a boxer go anywhere near him. I trained for 10 years got 3 gold medals and a knee injury stopped me. If you have good footwork you can easily keep a boxer away from you and when you find the weak spot it’s bed time for him. You can’t compare arm strength to leg strength. One kick to the head and it’s bye bye. Even if the boxer covers his head all the time, not many people will keep fighting with broken ribs I can tell you that for sure. Boxing is great but Taekwondo when properly executed is deadly.

      @@carolinas1s1s1 Yep. Also known as propioception, it refers to proper awareness of your body and limbs, and their position at any given time. Most of us move in autopilot when going about our day-to-day, but when you're fighting you need to be aware of your body to another degree: sometimes the smallest details can make or break a fight.
      Of course, martial arts aren't the only way propioception is developed: in fact, I'd argue dancers are the epitome of body awareness. But Tae Kwon Do has a lot of flashy techniques, and those call for really good control of your body.

    Why not both? Having the best combinations in Punches and Kicks will give you a very "specialized" version of kickboxing. All you would be missing are Muay Thai's Elbows and Knees, even Clinches. Though at that point, it might as well be the main draw of learning Muay Thai after the fact, instead of learning a teep kick when you have a TKD Side Kick.

      If you want a more comprehensive version of Tae Kwon Do, then find a Do Jhang that teaches one of the older more combat focused variants of Tae Kwon Do from when it was a military hand to hand style developed for the SOuth Korean military before it evolved into the more common sports forms.

    I’m a Red belt in TaeKwonDo (I quit 5 years ago to join the army cadets) and I am currently a boxer and a gym rat so best to say I know my way around both of these 🤣 they are both extremely affective. TaeKwonDo taught me how to be hard and fast with my kicks and how to be an escape artist along with some good grips but boxing taught me how to be speedy with my hands and how to keep a better guard. So combining these both are very effective for your fighting style.

I can't tell you how many times we were reminded to keep our guard up. I'd say taekwondo is best suited for tall people, for short people you'd rather use a Muay Thai fighting style, with kicks but tight guard for short combat. (it's my opinion, I may be wrong)

Doing all those jumping and/or high kicks in a fight can be dangerous especially against someone who knows how to wrestle. Both are great in their own ways and not easy to master.

    As a boxer, taekwondo looks sick. But everytime I seen one of them try to fight they get done. Punching is just faster, more reliable, accurate, usable in more situations m and does more than enough damage to switch someone’s lights off. Taekwondo is cool but boxing is just an art form of a sport

    • @vareeshordo5204
      @vareeshordo5204 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      That's usually because the modern application of taekwondo generally isnt full contact therefore their fighting experience is limited. Taekwondo can indeed be effective in a fight as long as you know what you're doing.
      For me personally, im primarily a grappler, and if someone goes for any high kicks or flying kicks they're getting their ass handed to them. Which is why Boxing is more practical in the streets since the practice yall put in is pretty much just a fight.
      That being said quite a few taekwondo techniques are actually supposed to be used against horse mounted opponents which is why it has flying kicks and what not in the first place
