    Loving this! Thank you so much for sharing this. I remember when I first saw the poster of "The Hunt For Red October" at our local cinema.

    One of the BEST "COLD WAR" flicks ever made! My only gripe? The "post" sub "battle" scene. Seemed too "low energy" and anti-climactic after such hot action.
    However? That said... I STILL love it! One of my all time favorites.

    Every woman in the audience, from the youngest to the oldest, was totally captivated with Sir Sean. That he managed to have a seemingly stable marriage for over 40 years to his lovely wife with all the temptations no doubt thrown in his lap must have taken a huge level of self-discipline. This is a real treat. I never saw this Presser back in the day. Mr. Connery is as cool in person as the characters he plays. I saw the movie when it came out, and like most of the movies made in the 1980's, this is one of the top movies of that time. This movie is truly a Masterpiece that will always be admired and watched for generations to come. R.I.P. Sean Connery.

    I like Sean Connery a lot but he could be a bit pompous at times. Roger Moore on the other hand, not only made a more elegant, suave Bond but added an appealing humour and self deprecation to his interviews.

    • @johnc.bojemski1757
      @johnc.bojemski1757 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Roger Moore always said that he "Played BOND for laughs." Meanwhile, Connery always took and portrayed the part as seriously as it had been written by Ian Fleming in the novels. The same dichotomy exists between the two more recent "BONDS" ie. Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig, ie. Laughs vs. DEAD seriousness!
      PS: The MOST "serious" BOND? Take a look at that Aussie guy's (George Lazenby) awsome performance in "On Her Majesty's Secret Service". Combines the best of his predecessor and successors too plus he really LOOKED like a guy you REALLY didn't want to battle in hand to hand combat. Sadly it was his ONLY appearance as the legendary secret agent. ("Got bad career advice." Mr.Lazenby later said about his "solo" turn at the part.) Many folks think HE was THE best BOND of all! All due respect granted to Mr.Connery who originated the role in 1962's "DR.NO" and the next FOUR sequels plus a FINAL return in "NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN" decades later, basically a remake of his 1960's era "THUNDERBALL" flick.
      Overall? The ONLY time I felt the BOND franchise wasn't up to snuff was when they brought the location to my hometown, ie NEW YORK CITY. Not exactly one of the "exotic" foreign locales (From MY perspective anyway as a native NYer.) where the films were usually set.
      THREE CHEERS AND LONG LIVE "JAMES BOND"!
      (Yes, we men ALL envy him as much as all the women pine for him!")

    Weii.. He certainly was not happy with Gina Lollobrigida in Woman Of Straw and threatened to leave in the middle of the filming. He also demanded a double salary once he heard O'Neal was paid more than him in A Bridge Too Far. He calles Broccoli and Saltzman gangsters, although they made him a star, etc. He was privately not as chummy or polite as he comes off in this interview. So I think he would still be struggling if it was not for the first 007 movies and the hairpieces they gave him. . And was he not a freemason, too?

    • @joanne26
      @joanne26 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sean was interviewed around 1997/8 about his career and I remember watching it and yes he did not get on with Gina at first claiming that because he was looping another film and could not meet up with her before filming began on Woman of Straw she had a bit of a’strop’ but she was a Diva
      I am a BIG FAN of Sean but of course he had to keep the ‘suave’ image up
