- After dating online for two years, Brooke, 17, and Austin, 19, are getting married. The fact that they’ve only met in person once before doesn’t seem to matter. Their very different personalities don’t either. Brooke’s laidback parents understand since they married at the same age. But Austin’s more traditional parents aren’t as understanding. And when Brooke flies across the country for the wedding, she isn’t exactly thrilled with her new digs. So Austin plans a fun night out with his female friends, thinking they’ll be her bridesmaids since she doesn’t have any friends of her own there. But with the big day a week away, and her parents on the way, the couple starts questioning whether they should go through with the ceremony!

Pal She is probably very lonely. Homeschooling has isolated her and left her without social skills. She probably wants to be married because she needs companionship. I doubt it lasts.
So long as we all understand that she may have been isolated, but most homeschooling is extremely social and not isolating at all. Saying so doesn’t have friends because of homeschooling is not accurate. Also parents should be more aware of their kid’s internet habits
I was homeschooled, but my parents also put me in dance class, acting classes, theatre etc to help me make friends and socialize ☺
@@ciannacoleman5125 thank you! I was homeschooled from 3rd grade all the way through 12th grade! I did co-ops and sports and theater! We played sports and had friends in the neighborhood :) the only thing we didn’t do was get on the bus and go to the physical school haha
My parents made sure we had good social skills and I even got a job when I was 15! But some parents use homeschooling as a way to shelter and control those children and it’s just sad!
As a homeschooler myself I will say that there are some families who are more isolated, but as for most people homeschooling is very social :) There are a bunch of extra curricular activities that are a bunch of fun! Drama and Band are my favorites! Have a nice day and God bless :)

Honestly, even if they were ugly she should've been mature enough to see how much they meant to his mother and just wear them. Weddings are not just about the bride and groom, they're about two families sharing things and blending as one. The only reason I feel bad for Brooke is because she was conditioned to be the way she is... they kept her at home with minimal social interaction with world outside of their religion. Brooke’s mom said that she had only spoken to Austin once over the phone and that her husband has never spoken to him.
I would be very anxious about my minor daughter traveling to live with somebody I don’t know. It sounds like her parents had to sign off on her getting married since she was a minor, and I wouldn’t personally allow that.
I wish them the best, but it seems like they have a lot of maturing to do.

Holy cow. I was a Homeschooled, anti-Christmas Oregonian. All my interactions were via internet/texting. My social anxiety was crippling. It's scary how similar my upbringing was to this girl's… I can't help but think that I could've ended up in her shoes if I hadn't broken out of it.
It really comes down to parenting, though. I take no issue with homeschooling whatsoever. I ultimately did get married pretty young (to an internet guy, no less), but if I had gotten married at 17? It's insane how much change you go through within a couple of years. Similarly, my parents didn't care about me flying across the country to spend several months with this man. There again, her parents just failed her.

I got married at 21, and my husband was 23, so I understand finding your true love young. But we got married after 6 years together, 4 years living together, and moving across the country together. These kids define have a lot to learn about love before they are ready to get married.

When it’s really about going to church, celebrating Jesus’ birth and such. But it’s been changed so much in certain unreligious cultures that it is viewed as pagan but only really strict Christians who are very involved and like to learn the deeper meanings and truths will know what Christmas is really about in their religion and will go past the new controversial image of Christmas.
I agree, my boyfriend and I are both religious and I was raised to celebrate Christmas. However, he was raised not to due to the pagan origins of celebrating false idols. It was awkward at first because my family didn’t understand why a “Christian” wouldn’t celebrate Christmas, but I respect his belief and he respects mine. Going on almost 2 years now.

Pink Cookie.. there is a lot of confusion about Christmas and it did start out as a pagan holiday but thankfully it evolved into the rightful celebration of Jesus' birth. And there is controversy about whether he was really born on that day but the holiday is still about Christ and true Christians, strict or not, know the true meaning of that celebration. it is also a day that can be celebrated with family, friends and gifts bc Christ wanted us to show others love and appreciation. Unfortunately, it has become too commercialized with people focusing on the better and more expensive gifts, children being idolized and given anything their hearts desire. Competitiveness comes into play as well "my gift is better than yours" type of mindset. it shouldn't be like that but it is.

As far as I can tell, as of 2020, Austin is going by Kent and is the owner of Voila Coffee, and they both moved to Bend, Oregon. It looks like they're still married and have one child as well.

There are other sects that dont celebrate certain holidays like some 7th day adventists are opposed to christmas. They are also health conscious.
Lots of Christian sects also dont celebrate holidays like halloween while my childhood church had and probably still has a party of the kids each year in the gym.
The part where they said “ppl think that we’re to young but we don’t care.” Honestly there’s a lot of young ppl who get married and then in a few years they’re divorced and dating someone else.
