TNK started accompanying Mali at very early age. in one of the interviews TNK said, Mali was one of the first Starwalt who accompanied him regularly. It must have started during his days in TVM under the tutelage of SSI. he was often picked by Mali for the concerts it seems, and duo instantly liked each other. It's evident in this recording also. They share few laughs during the performance.
This is a much talked about piece mainly because of the verbal interactions between Mali and TNK during the alApanA. This performance is another example of how playfulness can lead to much creativity. The rAgamAlika portion is superb, be it the hamsAnandi, the AhIrI or the sindhu bhairavi.

The lightning brigha at the 30th minute to score a point to even out with TNK did not come as revenge but as thunderbolt and was exhilarating
My late father’s favourite flutist
The RTP I have longed so far to be uploaded onto this channel. One of the most memorable RTPs of Mali ever.
