The PvP arena’s floor could be made of amethyst so that you can hear the beautiful amethyst chimes as Hermits get brutally murdered. Plus, some amethyst clusters around the sides could provide a little bit of lighting at night for clearer boundaries, along with maybe some pearlescent froglights.

This was a really fun episode. An idea for all the Etho heads... a royal guard. Wherever the throne room winds up, they could line the walls in individual alcoves.

Sometimes I swear my favorite thing about Gem is the ways she says other Hermits' names. She can express so much just by saying their names in different tones!
This video singlehandedly proving that Gem 100% could have had PVP for one of her TCG card types.

This is 100% my new favorite episode of Hermitcraft, hands-down. Some old-fashioned good-natured prank builds, then 10 minutes of dunking on Etho in PVP, followed by another 10 minutes of dunking on (and teaching!) everyone PVP while Etho heckles them is absolutely hysterical. AND I even learned something about PVP!
You're really great at explaining this stuff, you could totally run a PVP battle school out of that castle :P

Cub is a true Minecraft all-rounder, everyone remembers him for being an insane grinder but he's a great redstoner, builder, and I didn't know he was pretty good at PVP
and world record holder in some speedrun subcategories!
For real, reminds me of the voting for TCG, he overwhelmingly got balanced and practically an even 7% across the other options (Miner, Redstoner, Explorer, Speedrunner). He has the best videos on the mechanics of mining, great redstone as you said, great builder, he does pranks, PvP, world record speedrunning - all sorts.

Cub literally doesn't have a weakness as a minecrafter, he's 'A' tier at every aspect of the game.

@@AlexVB3 He used to be a lot better because he did a lot more pvp back in his race for wool days. Though even then he was mostly good with the bow and pretty decent with the sword iirc. First and foremost he has always been a tactician. He generally knows when he can win a fight and avoids the ones he can't win or changes the situation to his favour. A lot of the hermits are also genuinely just not very good at pvp because they are more focused on building or redstone for example, therefore someone that's even adequate at pvp looks a lot better in comparison.

@@datatravelleri The main disparity comes from the fact that Etho exceled at pre-1.9 PVP and never really got the same practice with post 1.9 combat.
Should Etho go 100% PVP every single time someone wants to play the game with him? Doesn't sound fun. I don't think he even cares about PVP for ranks.

I'd say newer players are almost always better at combat then old ones because of the infamous combat update.
@@kacperwoch4368 that is pretty true. The exceptions being Cub and False (from the top of my head. Idk about Iskall, cause he used to be pretty decent at PVP.)

Etho is so funny with his set up. Uses a mic in a Kleenex box, no mouse pad, his scroll wheel never worked… man is chill with the simplest of set ups

This is one of my favorite hermitcraft episodes in a long time. I can't stop laughing, my face hurts from trying to hold back the grin. It's just a bunch of friends goofing off, Gemini is Slaying... so much fun!

I like how in Etho's recent limited life episode he was reprimanded for being washed up in pvp lol so he went to immediately train to get better at pvp (one of the reasons why I like Etho because he's always wanting to learn). I think he realized in all his previous life series, pvp is probably the biggest downfall when it got to the very end where everyone turned against each other. And I'm glad he got help from Gem! She really proved her name Geminislay, she's a beast! Wiping the floor with all those boys lol!

Etho hadn’t played much due to personal issues when the changes to PVP were rolled out. He was a god beforehand.

@@khushijannat7273 1.9 PvP update Etho use to PvP a lot before those changes and was pretty good and revered among peers as being a force. but when the PvP changes happened he stopped PvPing as much and well Rusted out pretty hard lol
Gem teaching all the Hermits how to PVP is the adorable content I didn't know I needed.
Also, Gem's headhunting expeditions have been helping me learn who the PVP champs are. False is obviously great at it, and Cub seems pretty good. It also puts MCC into perspective, when you see folks like Dream or Techno (RIP) just absolutely humble the Falses of the MC world without even looking like they're trying.

@@gristen Compare to MCC players, she is still at the lower end, but compare to Hermits, she, Scar and Grian are like god tier, maybe Pearl too

I like the move of fully showing Etho how to use things like counter crit, it's very classy to genuinely teach and share knowledge. Also very funny to see the old guard bapped around so effortlessly.
The "fence" around the pvp arena should be made of Etho heads~
Watching Gem absolutely decimate multiple old gods of minecraft and teaching them things they've never heard of is everything I wanted and more

Your note at the end about still having that fangirl feeling despite actually being a PART of the server is really cool. You can clearly tell how much fun you have and how genuine the Hermits are about the server and the community in general. Your building episodes are fantastic, but I absolutely love the episodes with so much Hermit-on-Hermit interaction (and sometimes violence...)!
Seeing Etho beeing scholed was both impressive and funny. Seeing the (former) trashtalkers Doc, Ren and Xisuma beeing ripped to shreds hade me laughing in tears 🤣 Well done Gem!
Also got to give some Kudos to Etho for still beeing willing to ask for education
What I appreciate most is how humble these long-term Minecrafters are, and how willing to be taught new things by someone with the skills. These are great collaborations!

Cubfan is the most underrated hermit imo. He is amazing in everything he does and everything he doesn't.
I had no idea he was good at PVP. Don't think I've ever seen him fight, except the little bit in Total Chaos.

@@tylerfortson9535 nah the word good doesn't do him justice! He has a World Record in Speedrunning, he had built one of the biggest pyramids in survival MC with lots of redstone and parkour inside it, and his pvp is only getting better as he plays more MCC.
Gem's pvp style is a really artistically and structurally beautiful thing. Everything comes together to make such a powerful style. She starts off with a crit as the first shot, then she adds strafes to be hard to hit all the while keeping a steady sword combo boosted the crosshair tracing of a valorant player (i heard she plays it from one of her streams)
It’s actually quite similar to the way Technoblade fought with long strafes and constant pressure.

That was a lot of fun to watch. In the beginning of the pvp battles with Etho, I was thinking that this was the most polite pvp I'd ever seen. Then Doc comments about them deciding who the Alpha Canadian on the server is, and it all made sense. 🙂

I think this is one of my favorite episodes you've ever made. It was so silly and fun. I love the prank builds and you dominating the other hermits in PvP killed me. I especially love all the commentary from the other hermits in the chat. Beef was pulling no punches lol

This was such a fun episode! The pranks were great, I hope Pearl keeps the piranha plant. 33 Etho heads, sounds like there needs to be an Etho themed costume party in the future. We don't need a ton of building in every episode, just having fun with friends makes some of the best content.

That's awesome that you were teaching the hermits (who are used to the old combat), the best way to crit and how counter crits work. I saw X's vod, you and etho were talkin about not doing pvp much in HC and etho said "because we all suck at it" then you replied "we wouldn't suck if we did it" and he said no one would practice with him, so a PVP practice/minigame in HC would be great you could even be a trainer 💪
This rabbit-holes my brain. Did Etho fall behind on PVP because of his reputation at being good at PVP years ago? Like, would people not fight him, letting him get practice and experience in the new ways of PVP because of the old UHCs and his reputation? Probably not, he probably just hasn't focused on PVP in ages...but it's like you are good at something and have a rep for it, that rep means people don't want to go against you and then you have to relearn how to ride the bike because you don't have recent experience.
Etho was more of a bow guy to be fair, and he knocked everyone around except Pause. I hope he regains his confidence. I'd really enjoy seeing him turn the washed-up naysayers on their heads.
@@luni-craft iirc he mostly did pre-1.9 combat. He didnt do much pvp post 1.9. which is different all together from the pre-1.9
@@luni-craft iirc the UHCs in mindcrack kind of pressured him coz of the expectations (don't quote me on that) so he stopped joining pvp things (I think he played to UHC 12?) and then 1.9 combat happened and it was totally different so probably his interest on it fizzled out. Now the life series is igniting that drive again and the wash up talks lol... but really he can master it again especially with the tips Gem gave and more battles in... now he needs to change his set up lol then adjust his sensitivity so they won't whiff as much with wild camera movements
The livestreams and hermit chat during the fighting were hilarious. The Hermits being confused about the slaying, but eventually joining in.
It's interesting to see how the different hermits react to being humbled in pvp lol. I love that Etho was so ready to learn. And also, had no idea Gem had gotten so good, she must have really been training for MCC.
I have watched her for some time and she’s always been very good. I feel like she was downplaying it on Hermitcraft and Empires (this season). Maybe she was a little shy around the Hermits. But she probably was practicing too.

What started as just collecting a head from Etho, turned into a little PVP event. Good combat training! I learned from this episode too.

Ideas for an arena!!!

Maybe in another area you can make a colosseum with lots of stands. If you want one in that area, maybe sort of like a golf course. Use concrete powder for the ground, OR some kind of brick, matching your megabase. You can surround it in fences/iron bars/an actual structure, and inside make it look spooky.
My final idea is like a karate arena, or at least one I have seen. Sandstone for the walls, and stone brick or wood for the floor. Have little changing rooms on the side with a bed in each, one for you and one for the opponent. A chest or barrel too to place the items in, and a door closing it off. Then, the middle just a flat area or a little elevation on the sides. Maybe even add it to an empty room in your megabase!! It's up to you!!

This was the most fun episode in a while. That does not mean the other ones are not, just that this one with all the hermit interaction was extra enjoyable for that.

The cleo limited life video popped up in my recommendations and that brought me here. I thought them saying you beating etho 25 times was an exaggeration but that was a genocide on one person

Watching an elf own several different enemies repeatedly was a highlight to the day.
I saw all the deaths in the chat while watching Tango's stream, and I thought you were just farming heads. I had no idea those were all legit PVP kills, even sometimes giving them a handicap! Absolute madness!!

You know, I'm really not a fan of PVP but this friendly session among friends while having fun is exactly the kind of thing most people should be doing. Very entertaining video, lots of laughs and great example set! ^^

They were built with (originally wooden but later replaced) stone seats into a hill side with an open back to see the natural area so they were only semi circular seating with a circular area in front (which could be the actual arena) and a bit behind that for the stage and set which you could leave out. I feel like that might go with the nature elf vibe you've got going on ❤

@FNAF Foxy I think it's just the roman ones that are amphitheatres, but I'm not 100% sure. The greeks just called theirs theatron which translates to theatre in English so that's what I went with
