For anyone wondering, the tree is still alive and healthy. Cutting a notch in the base did not kill the tree, it will still growing long after all of us are dead. The landowners made drive-through trees in order to bring in some money, these are rural areas without a lot of jobs, but withots of tourists for about the last century.
@@brienconnolly7601 no it didn't, the tree is fine. You can only see the base of it here. Most of the wood in an old redwood like this is dead, it's just the outer layers that are alive, and many of the old ones have enormous holes going through them from thousands of years of periodic wildfire and anthropogenic burning. There are ones like enormous straws, hollow all the way up to the top, that have been used to live in and smoke meat for generations, and were used to house livestock and pioneer families during the historic period. Come on out and visit someday if you can
"Its not dead" You carved from one side to the other through the core of the tree, big enough for modern vans... That tree will never grow to its full potential due to how much you fked it up
@@andrewalmas2791 how do you know they carved it out? Have you ever seen a redwood? Lots of the oldest ones are hollow. Living for thousands of years, they often get hollowed out by fire naturally. If you don't like people cutting trees, please stop using all paper products and move out of your house, as it's likely made from wood.

@@ConnorRichardson-ce6gw you're familiar with that particular tree? How do you know the history of this tree? Did the landowner familiarize you with it's history? Would love to actually see a Redwood tree.
That tree fell down a few years ago😮
But if it dies you will go to jail because killing a redwood is elligal
What a messed up thing to do to a tree just to impress humans.

15 bucks to drive thru the tree hate capitalism
It’s a 100 now
Hi, what part of the woods this is? Thank you
Is it seriously 100 bucks??
Me and my mom went there and the lady at the desk said it was 100
That’s stupid, ruined the damn tree for what?
If "ruin"... meant standing perfectly straight... then I'd agree.
It's not ruined. It's still healthy and growing
