It's been so long since this performance now and yet I still find myself typing 'Sydnie Christmas Reaction' into TH-cam and filtering by upload date pretty much daily. I just cannot get over how amazing she is, especially with her performance of 'My Way'.
I laughed a little when you said "I might get emotional" as I knew it was more or less guaranteed. Just insane how powerful her voice is, and it certainly brought me to tears.

This, for me, is the best live performance of My Way by anyone, ever. This is now Sydnie’s song - she owns it, in the same way that Bobby Hatfield owns Unchained Melody.

Agree. I personally Ike the studio version of this song. Hard to believe that it has better clarity, power, and emotions than when she sang it on BGT. Also you must do Starlight Express. Andrew Lloyd Webber asked her to do her version of his song and allowed her to put her own kisses on it.
I still can’t decide if this is my favorite song of hers or Over the Rainbow. I go back and forth constantly, and then I’ll watch her audition and go, “Oh yeah, this is my fav!”

Great reaction to what is definitely the best rendition of this song and so far everything she has done is the best that has been sung.
She brilliantly saved this song, believing enough in her voice and interpretation of Tomorrow to carry her through to this performance, where her typical crescendo approach could reveal her true power and range and creativity to outperform the other 180 covers. But let's get beyond the "Broadway stage" stuff--yes, she was well trained over 18 years, her performing of a song, her clarity, her diction, but nothing in theatre gave her any success, allowed her personality to break through, or allowed her creativity in making each song her own. She belongs on the concert stage, where she can showcase every bit of the entirety that is Sydnie Christmas, even her own total creations.
I couldn't agree more. Mainstream musical theatre is so prescriptive these days, allowing for no individual interpretation and artistic freedom. The only exception to this is the latest Cabaret revival, which adapts the characters to the individual performers.
I have seen in an interview that Sydnie mentioned that she wrote some songs when she was about 15 yrs old. She said she may have to revisit some of those, so who knows.

You'll probably have to wait awhile, along with all the other North American fans, for her to come to Broadway. Her dream is to be a leading lady in our West End (better than Broadway) and we are going to make the most of her while we can. She has a voice for the world and we are nothing but sharing, I shall be lucky enough to see her in Feb next year on her first tour, and cannot wait for the "live" experience. Peace and love.
