This happens with several usb 2 hdd and usb memory pen. you can see that win 11 has repaired the disk when you choose to show hidden files. internal sata hdd and ssd have never had this problem. Is usb more vulnerable and more unstable?
USB 2.0 3.0 is a big joke! how often do you get faster write speeds than 15mb? with a hama usb 3.0 card reader and a new ssd card, I often get kilobytes of write speed and max 10mb. They vary up and down. usb 2.0 hdd so I never get more than a 15mb write speed.
I am having this very same issue with an external seagate drive. In both the dock it came in and in another. The power light won’t even light up. So I need a logic board it looks like. Or is that simple fix not possible and also keeping the files on the drive I need ?
Yes, seems like this bad diode is shorting out the power, which also means all the power that's supposed to power the wholr drive gets dumped into this one diode, making it hot
what if it doesnt short but it just doesnt read on the pc? I dont hear any spinning of the hard drive either but the light does come on when connected to power.
I found an old WD Caviar IDE at work in the "Wipe" pile, damn thing almost killed my beloved Windows XP drive wiper, thankfully the 20 year old power supply didn't detonate. The drive has since been sentenced to death by hard drive shredder company
Hello. No matter which usb storage I connect to my computer, I get a message (It's an error) And win11 gives you the option to scan and fix the problem. The problem is that this also happens with newly formatted external USB 2 hard drives. Also usb2 memory pen. Always when windows tries to scan and repair the disk, CMD (scandisk /f e:) it always says at the end that it failed and could not repair. during this process things on the disk were deleted and other things were done. Some of the content is now more damaged than before! On a usb hdd disk, I formatted with full format and afterwards I did a full sector scan without any errors. After copying a few files, win 11 started complaining. Why? One of the explanations is that it is windows. I have experienced this with 4 USB HDDs and several USB sticks
My DELL Inspiron 3670 started bugging out and gave me this message: “No hard drive detected- Your hard drive is operating outside of normal parameters and should be replaced. This system no longer carries a hardware warranty. To purchase a replacement drive, please visit Dell Spare Parts for a compatible replacement part.” Does this mean that I have to replace my Barracuda 1TB hard drive?
I have a question my laptop hard disk is damaged and it doesn't work at all i can't a new latop is there any way to fix this so i can use this in future
Could I swap the board out with one from another hdd? Would that work? I don't have an extra hdd lying around, but I'm willing to buy one if it means getting drive to work long enough to recover my files.
What do you mean when the logics are gone? I've a non working hard drive, but don't know what's the problem, I've a exact same board, but don't know if old board would work or it is damaged beyond repair. How to know it?
Classic: Dead Transil (TVS)... No need thermal camera, test them (and the possible fuse associated) with a multimeter. ;-) For recovery data, just REMOVE them.
I have a Seagate HDD that’s 4 years old and still works fine, I also have another 2 one is 9 years old and the other is 11 and they both still work aswell
Bro my laptop's hard drive spins but not showing in device manager, it also doesn't show anything like boot device not found and screen blanks for long time . Is it broken ? Is there a way to recover the data from it?

That redish component is getting heated due to it self it is got damaged or got shorted due to any surrounding components failure so this is not working
Short circuit problem is the most easy repair 👍
Yes it’s always seagate
Are they unreliable?
@@bruhhh69 complete trash
@@bruhhh69from many comments on forum and shopping sites, it seems they're lower quality compared to WD
@bruhhh69 worst hdd ever
@@bruhhh69depends a lot, but with age they tend to not last long
The schottky diode will show short circuit using a multimeter.
What if you took a whole board from another HDD and put it on there instead?
You have to remove the bios chip and replace it with the old one as to not lose the data
It won't work. You need to transfer the BIOS chip of the old HDD board to new board too. That's what I think.
@@unknownasd5576where is the Bois chip looketed

Don't need logic board unless extreme damage tvs diodes easy fix
You said The drive short circuits any device it's connected to,?
Yup. Some random components in the power supply part of the board must have a short circuit...
Yes, seems like this bad diode is shorting out the power, which also means all the power that's supposed to power the wholr drive gets dumped into this one diode, making it hot
The 12v tvs diode fails and goes short circuit, simply remove and copy data off
@@paultomlinson528 you mean for data recovery just remove and use a external adapter and copy the data?

Could I swap the board out with one from another hdd? Would that work? I don't have an extra hdd lying around, but I'm willing to buy one if it means getting drive to work long enough to recover my files.
Both hdd must be from same maker's and with same exact model and with same capacity, exactly same only then your method will work 👍
Good luck.
some ppl are saying you need the bios chip from the old HDD for it to work. Did you have any luck?
are there companies that do this type of work? thanks
He works for one
The hard disk is a killer 💀
if the controller have same serial and model you still gonna change the bios chip? i dont have any files on it
What you do when the logics are gone?
Your best bet is to buy the same exact hard drive and transfer the board

Just don’t put it in the microwave🤔
Can you fix mine???
so do i replace the dial or just cut it off and leave it like as is
It said in video, replace defective component.
where can i get a thermal cam ?
Always Seagate 😂
I opened my hard drive thinking it was a stuck needle but it wasn't, so I basically completely ruined the drive for nothing.

Just REMOVE the dead TVS. ;-)

desolder the bad tvs diode, you dont even have to put a good one in its place, it will work.
