    Nothing against the Beatles but I've always felt that the Stones were better and it was by a wide margin at that. The chemistry this lineup had back then is undeniable and this is pure greatness. I would have loved to have been in attendance for this show as I've seen several videos from this gig and they were all jaw dropping

      Yes of course. This one is soul. Is magic. Is greatest. And yes Rolling Stones very. Very better than beatles.

      Basically, the Beatles had a huge variety in styles so they appealled to everyone, and they innovated more with song forms and recording styles and so on. However, they clearly never had the musical cohesion of this group. Listen to the way everything blends on a song like ventilator blues, totally beyond the beatles to play something like that

    The stones would be cool even if they all had beer bellies like me. I was checking out Jaggers shirt and I thought jeez what if jagger had one of them things. Great version of Satisfaction, by the way.

    I love how the Stones can do a lot of their stuff better live than on the record. Yeah Jagger prancing around the stage is a part of the reason people love seeing them live, but for me, it's all about what they might do with their songs. I think today they tend to do Satisfaction pretty close to the record, but many of their other songs they do still make changes on the arrangements constantly. You can see them 20 times and maybe not hear the same version of some songs twice.

      Both Mick Taylor and Keith Richards copied most of what Brian Jones did on guitar! The sound quality may be better than it was in the 1960s but the level of energy and desperation isn't the same. The Stones don't sound very angry like they did earlier in their lives.

    the infamous 1971 version; you can tell they were tired of their 1965 hit and tried a new arrangement; I guess they didn't like it: they wouldn't play the song for the next ten years, until the 81-82 tour

    they’ve never been able to do this song well when they’re playing live i don’t get why Richards can’t leave the bloody drum break alone it’s so great in the recording but he somehow feels the need to fill it up

    • @johngore7744
      @johngore7744 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cause Keith preferred the way Otis Reading did it. But it was released by Decca unknown to them while they were in LA. Keith wanted to lead with horns. It’s a good thing they left it. He always says he wasn’t finished working on it and it was definetly his tune(wrote it in his sleep lol) but his guitar hook was too good to dismiss. He wanted that to be horns. It worked for Otis but the Stones weren’t as refined and that ripping intro lead on the studio version is timeless. And of course the space in the sound with Charlie’s beat. They also got sick of playing it so they’d mix it up.

    What a great strange soul-version. Only Stones can do something like this. By the way, Beatles never were a live-band after "Star Club", they only did albums with all this expensive technical equiptment. For me, beatles never "ruled"! After Beatles broke, anybody of the former Beatles showed what he can as a musican. Plastic Ono Band, George, the Wings and even Ringo are great. But for me, the Beatles never came any bit close to what tha STONES did/ and still do.
