I’m 68 . I’ve been around the block. I’ve met loads of people. Let me tell you that if more people were as lovely and kind as you this would be a MUCH BETTER world. I relate to you and love your kindness and excitement for everything you do . People like you will always have a few jealous, Judge mental people who need to tear others down to feel better about themselves. Your new home is fabulous, you have a wonderful relationship ,darling dogs and you’re happy. Your parents did a great job raising you.

Dear Shirley, you eloquently wrote the exact words that came into my head when I watched this video. I'm the same age as you and have seen a lot of ups and downs in life. I think Josie brings a silver lining to my life, especially in these trying times and when she said that she had a very special audience I thought to myself that she is a very special youtuber. Positive, lovely and compassionate and I wish her, Charlie and the doggos all the best in the whple world.

I'm from Portugal and my grandma always says something like this (might be lost in translation)
"If you have nothing good to say, no praise to say, nothing constructive to add and not a word of consolation to offer ... you better be silent!"
I do believe this. Keep the great work. You have a great thing here, that probably helps a lot of people to smile and dream. We need more positivity in the world. We need more white and pink and yellow 🌞, less black and grey ☺️😉
I think there is a difference between negative comments and constructive criticism.
I agree, but I think browsing the comments anything critical at all is zapped lol. A bit of criticism can be healthy to improve content... if you only keep and read the positives then you surely don’t develop

My opinion: Negative comments are not a problem as long as they are written in respectful words. We can (sometimes) learn something from them.

Don't worry about people crying 'censorship' because we are not government entities and we don't guarantee anyone's freedoms to be jerks; behavior has consequences and if your behavior is childish, you will not be rewarded for that. No need to apologize.

My goodness, this is the classiest response to "haters" I have ever seen. I happened to see some comments from the last video and I just couldn't believe how much energy people were putting into arguing about this. You addressed negativity in such a positive way that it wasn't negative at all 😁👍
I think it was the way you made the comment about sustainability in your one of your previous video that rubbed people wrongly. Your comment about people pouring food out of plastic bags into a glass jar did sound a little judgmental and I guess some people were offended by it and turned around and pointed out that you buy clothes that come wrapped in plastic. It's not an excuse to be nasty for sure.
I read 'The Secret' too and I have combined it with what I learned in my spiritual journey and applied them to both my faith and my life. It turned my life around. One of the hardest thing for me to learn was to remove judgement and that people are a reflection of me. If I wanted people to change, I had to change first. It's still a working progress, but I must say you're right about spreading positivity. It is amazing how positive energy can change you and how you see the world. I feel like I am more able to get through difficult times because I try to see the good in every situation and find something to be grateful for.
Dear Josie, I am one of your long-term but very silent followers. Now I would like to speak out because it makes me very sad to hear that you and Charlie have been attacked on social media for... what so ever. These times not only are the days of anxiety and depression, of lonelyness and hopelessness but also of envy :( And some persons are not in a position to channel their negatitve feelings in other ways but to bully others. I am German and a famous German statesman once said: "The real character shows in a crisis" ..which is so, so true. I was actually googling something on an influencer product I’d brought the other day (I wanted to know something about it) and I came across a criticism thread on this person (that I didn’t realise what it was until I opened it!), and wow I was appalled by the fact that these people actually had the time and commitment to comment so negatively on this influencer (and other influencers). I actually said to my husband “but these people obsessively watch these channels, know everything about this person and are so caught up in their business and activities and they actually watch a broad breadth of channels and hate on them” It was the saddest and most pathetic thing I have ever skim read.
I don’t agree with everything that is said by the “influencers” I watch on TH-cam, that’s life, we don’t agree with what our friends say all the time, and when that’s the case, we either chat about differences or get over it and move on.

Josie, I am definitely one of your older demographics and very much enjoy your channel. Many years ago I lived in London with my husband and son. We often made trips to the Cotswolds which we all loved for its beauty and quaintness. I enjoy watching you for many reasons including how positive and hard working you and Charlie are. I thoroughly enjoy the beauty and fashion also. It is sad that people want to make negative comments to people they have never met. I commend you for being environmentally conscious and doing your bit. I am not sure anyone could be zero waste but if eveyone would do their best then that would go a long way to making a better world. Good for you for blocking the negative people.
I agree there is no need for nasty comments but I also believe that people can’t give an honest opinion on here without being labelled a hater or a troll. When people use social media as a platform to sell their brand they must be able to accept that not everyone agrees with certain aspects of what they are selling. It not being hateful or jealous. Sometimes people live in bubbles and can’t accept hearing one negative thing about themselves. That is not the real world. I hear of youtubers blocking people just because they have an opinion that may differ from their own. This doesn’t make them bad people. The world isn’t perfect and although I don’t agree with nasty comments because there is no need for it but youtubers and the general public need to understand the difference and be able to express themselves freely. Love for all, hatred for none xx
Darlene she already covered that point when she talked about constructive criticism, which is different from toxicity from haters & trolls. One can express a truth without brutality, but in love, with graciousness. That's what she means.

I don’t think it’s a case of disliking something for no reason - it’s calling out influencers on their BS. Preaches about sustainability yet consumes more than a village put together. Breaks lockdown rules and thinks followers are too stupid to notice. Etc etc.

I am so glad you addressed this. The negative comments were really bothering me...I wanted to respond back hatefully, which is not healthy for me...and it was on my mind. So I for one will be very happy you bloke this. I need the positive energy in my life, and your channel provides this for me. I don’t always agree with everything you say, but that is okay. I leave it and continue to enjoy your content. One side note, I did not really like the shirt you are wearing, but seeing it on you...think I will have to have it! Lol. And love to Charlie. He has received his share of unnecessary negative comments, and I think he is the cutest, sweetest man, and I enjoy so much his presence on your channel. I have stage four cancer and have been home much more than normal, and I can tell you since you have been filming daily in quarantine, I have gleaned so much about self care and about feeling like ourself even while at home. When you said you bought cute little dresses to wear about the house because it made you feel more like yourself a light bulb came on! Being at home sick and definitely not feeling myself on the fashion front, it helped me to wake up and take back a portion of myself. I bought the cute little white and lilac frilly dress from Anna’s Stories? I believe ? I felt more like myself for sure! From there I launched a full on self care ! So thank you! Josie, there will always be negative people and comments, it's just a way of life- you just be you and do what is good for you, because life is too short for any type of negativity (there's enough of that anyway).. changes come in both small and big "parcels" and are very personal, but I feel like you've inspired your viewers to change some things for the better by being a great example, I know it's like thar for me! If ever there was a time to be kind to others this is it! We are all dealing with something during this and I think the way thru is with compassion, not negativity. Especially if someone is nice enough to park in the most beautiful dang spot I’ve ever seen to discuss it!! And I’ve had to have the plumbers in and it was fine. Everyone was respectful of the rules and stayed safe for my family and theirs. I’m so excited to see the paint choices! I’m repainting my living room and I totally saw the difference in the 3 whites. I’m very chip savvy right now!!

I've been the same way about Twitter! I'm mostly on TH-cam but I can only take so much of the "News" even! Officials have even gotten so Negative! I like US President Trump who has gotten in front of the Media DAILY during the Lockdown & Spoken HOPE & Encouragement to ALL! Her Majesty, the RF & PM Johnson have been on All Forms of Media Encouraging & Thanking People for their Courage & Hard Work in Troubling Times! Even a 2yr old knows that ENCOURAGEMENT & ACKNOWLEDGMENT of those who are working hard & struggling, go alot further at Helping than the Negative! Hey Josie, I've naver posted a comment on TH-cam before, this is the first! I came across your TH-cam channel during the lockdown. I wanted to say that watching your channel brightens my day because of how positive you are. I'm happy you delete the negative comments and not giving them a voice. I also naver understood why. If you don't like it or agree, move on. Your doing amazing keep up the great work. Do you! When it comes to being environmentally friendly people need to understand "it's a marathon not a sprint". Everything little thing counts. Like you say no one is perfect, no one...... Love your house was wandering if you would every do an AD home Tour, by any chance?

Josie, thank you for making this video. I lost my mom the first of March, and then covid forced me out of my job. I’m self employed so I couldn’t get government assistance. That’s just the tip of the iceberg of what I’ve been going through, yet I have never felt the need to be negative. In fact your channel has been the greatest distraction during this whole time. I’m sorry people have to be so negative. Just know it’s more a reflection of them instead of you. Love you Josie 💓

I feel your frustration Josie, I have based my career around Psychology, Neurology and Social Science - I spend my days figuring out why people behave the way they do. While it can be very difficult to understand what leads an individual to leave negative comments on another persons social media - there will of course be very many reasons including mental health, I find the best thing to do is remember that they are likely battling something very troubling to them and to treat them to kindness when no one else is. xxx

You know my thoughts on online hate, I don’t create any content that’s controversial yet I still get it. I barely even have any followers it’s madness. Can not fathom it. If you dislike someone you don’t know so much, why watch? In 2020 you can’t breathe without making someone angry. It’s sad that during a global pandemic people have been way nastier. I totally agree: we don’t want to make these people so so riled so it’s healthy for them to be blocked and take a step back and stop obsessing over people online! X

Thank-you for addressing this Josie - I'm really pleased to see someone in your remit taking this on. I am in no position to be listened to in the way you are, and although I'm not on social media in the general sense, I have seen how it has affected some of my friends children, effectively being bullied and think that it is brilliant for you to explain how it makes you feel, and also, it will hopefully influence some other of your TH-cam followers that may be of a vulnerable / young age that may have seen such comments and feel that being rude, or insulting is perfectly acceptable. Keep up with the positive videos - thoroughly enjoyable!
I was taught as a child that "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all." I have tried to live by that motto (with admittedly a few slips over the years😊). Keep ignoring the trolls.

I've always been told that sustainability isn't about one person doing it perfectly, it's about thousands of people doing it imperfectly and given you're audience and impact you're helping more than you could even know! I don't like hate comments that mention somebody's looks I feel that is just unacceptable however having people in your house during lock down when so many of us are struggling alone I feel abit conned by it I suffer from mental health and I have had to cope alone the whole lock down period I don't like people bending the rules just to suit them it's not fair
Josie I have been a long time watcher of yours probably from the start but have never felt the need to comment. I have liked your videos but never felt the need to comment until recent days. I felt disappointed when you moved house during lockdown when the government told people not to move. I continued to watch you. I was very disappointed when you moved from the epicenter of the pandemic to an area with limited medical resources and didn't self isolate for 14 days. I continued to watch. I watched in shock as you decided to paint in pink. I watched with nostalgia as you filled the kitchen with things you really don't need right now instead of buying heavy thermal lined drapes for the windows and doors and large area rugs to stop drafts and keep the heat in. I watched with absolute horror when you twice insulted the farmer.
I suspected you and Charlie weren't alone in that house but to have it confirmed was disappointing. This video was the most disappointing though. You admit your audience is the older woman. We dont need to be talked down too. It shows you are tone deaf. Senior officials have had to resign, scientists have resigned and Dominic Cummings could bring down the government. Why do you think you are immune from criticism? Older women don't need The Secret, we generally have our forever home, our career and our family and we realise what is important in life. We aren't jealous or bullies. I wouldn't want your life for anything. Just one tip from someone who has a country pad. Always defer to the farmers.
Shabby Chic as a maturer viewer, I too felt patronised and I would only use the book “the secret” as a doorstop. I have followed this channel for a while and for the most part enjoyed it, however, I have watched in morbid fascination during lockdown, how they have been able to carry on as normal. The UK is on its knees. How was it possible to move during the pandemic? This was truly disappointing and I lost respect. The endless deliveries of non essential products was mind boggling and clearly not environmentally friendly. When you create a channel for the public domain expect some criticism, as it is realistic. There is no growth is everyone is agreeing with you.

can only stress what Josie says about other issues not going away just because
there is a major problem in the world. From a scientific point of view it is quite
safe to let people into your house as long as you take the right precautions.
Although the virus DNA can be found on surfaces it was proven that it’s not contagious
anymore after a few hours (this is the reason why governments allow it). Let’s
not forget that a major threat is an impending economic crisis so everybody who
manages to employ someone these days deserves a big cheer-on.

I couldn't help but keep trying to peek outside your car windows to see your surroundings, giggles. The Costwold's were my stepfathers favorite place he and my mother first visited together when she first took him for a visit in the late 80's. It took his breath away and remained in his heart till he passed on back in 2013. It is heartbreaking that people feel the need to troll. Good for you speaking out against it and I love your response to dealing with it. None of us would put up with having someone in our house that criticised us and everything in it and that should be no different on personal social media platforms. It is your own personal space and anyone that has anything nasty to say should be shown the door like they would in the real world. Keep up the positivity as we all love you, Charlie, the boys and everything on your channel!
