- Remake version of the classic Walt Disney Pictures logo in 4K.
It was by re-watching and rediscovering, after many years, great classics and sadly forgotten Walt Disney Pictures films, that the desire came to me to adapt this everlasting logo which has rocked audience generations. The visual brand being absolutly timeless, the task was not easy to modernize, the challenge was here. When I saw that horrible CGI 100 Years logo they made for the anniversary (this is only my opinion) ...I decided to run into a new Remake Logo project featuring a rework of the original one.
I started my work based on "The Black Cauldron" 4K Restoration to match the very first and original logo animation timing and have a first idea for the color base for my own version.
For the background, I created a deep blue color shade similar to the one currently used for Disney+. A bit like the original in a way, since Disney has never stopped to lighten that blue color over the years. I also created a paper grain effect to remind that one of the studio's greatest skills is above all drawing. The Walt Disney Studio's major projects are above all born on paper before reaching the screen.
I decided to make the logo much bluer (I found that particular aspect kind of soothing and that contributed to change its look without really changing it), and not to imitate what will be done later in more recent versions of the logo where the "Walt Disney" words are written in pure white.
About the effects specially created for this graphic overhaul:
Just as all the other logos that I previously remade/modernized, this one is also fully remade and rendered from scratch. I completely redrew the castle, it has now perfectly clean and clear shape. I also animated and created new elements such as floating flags (which were static in the original) and a Pixie Dust effect. These elements are animated in traditional "hand drawn" frame-by-frame animation in reference to the animation the Walt Disney Studios have used for many years. I gave to the "Walt Disney" letters some volume to remind that Disney also does 3D CGI animation. A shadow also appears under the logo to add depth to the entire presentation.
I know, the logo does not fundamentally change that much, I agree. I really tried to stay close as possible to the original, my goal is not to distort it but simply to give it a sort of second youth.
Each layer, blue background, textures, logo font, animation frames (Flags and Pixie Dust)...etc were created on Procreate. Then, each one of these layers was combined and animated on Vegas Pro.
If the visual does not really change, I have nevertheless allowed myself some freedom. You will probably have noticed that I reworked a little bit the original gorgeous 1985 music jingle for my remake version. I added more instruments and musical effects to make it more intense, more stereo and less flat. A Pixie Dust sound effect has also been added. I also presented an alternative "Walt Disney Animation Studios" version that I made, but of which I am a little less proud. To mark the difference with the previous one, some elements are different and the yellowy color adds a little retro side to the whole thing, I wanted to try something different. You will also see from the "making of" at the end of the video, that a 3rd version was also under study but was ultimately abandonned.
This Walt Disney Pictures logo project is actually another entry in a long series of Logo Remakes that I regularly upload on this channel. I hope you'll enjoy this new one. Feedbacks are always very much appreciated!

They, ironically, are phasing that out right now in favor of something more teal (honestly, I prefer the deep blue)
To be honest I wasn't aware of that info until I saw your comment and from what I saw yesterday the change is now visible. From what they said "blending Hulu's signature green into Disney+ blue". So I'm uploading my visual overhaul, based on Disney+ color with a pretty special timing I must say. I prefer the deep blue especially since it accompanied since 1985 the first versions of the Walt Disney Pictures logo for a very long time. Sometimes, I just don't understand why they feel the need to change things that are so deeply ingrained visually...for relatively questionable choices. I personally find this new color out of place. But that's just my point of view.

@@TheRemakerChannel Change for the sake of change, I'm guessing. Their rationale would only work if they replaced the Star hub with Hulu outside the US. (They could keep it in Japan, since Hulu Japan has been independent from Hulu US for several years).

Well, how about that? The fact that you even made this logo to be so reminiscent of the 1980s logo is proof that you're not only passionate about this kind of work, not only do you recognize the impact this entertainment company has had on people like you and I, but quality can go pretty far and it doesn't necessarily need to be focused on quantitative matter. Cool designs on your end! THIS is what you call a throwback and THIS what should be utilized by the studio themselves!

The pixie dust animation was so beautiful! It feels right at home with the 2D animated era of Disney.
Also, nice new intro! It’s gonna be fun trying to figure out what logos/openings were referenced there tho. XD

Some of the logos/openings as you noticed are indeed references to actual logos/openings...and some of them are just pure invention.

The little cute waving flags ^^ Thank you for your very sweet feedback! Seems that lot of people are quite happy to see these little flags moving. It's actually a nice idea that Pixar got when they made their own CGI version of the Walt Disney Pictures logo during the opening of Toy Story or Bug's Life (for example) and many other movies. It's actually right after I finished to animate the flags that I got the idea of adding another traditionally animated element with the semi-circle arc / pixie dust effect. Thank you again and I'm happy you enjoyed the result! :)

Part of me feels like Disney themselves should do something like this in the future for some of their films as opposed to the (excessively long) 2021 logo.

I also wish at some point they returned to this logo which is very simple and efficient (they used a very well made version for Saving Mr Banks in 2013, and I think they should have continued to use it). The (2006-2022) CGI version was long but it was nice, I always prefered it with "Walt Disney Pictures" since it changed in 2011 with only "Disney" written instead. I always found that change ridiculous, as if the studio was losing his own identity....and now the new 2022 one as you said is far soooo long, unelegant and looks even more Ugly-CGI than before.
This logo is literally better & more magical then the entirety of modern Disney.
Can you do the Pixar version next? :)

They also thrown their own studio name replacing "Walt Disney Pictures" by only "Disney"...I always saw that change as a big mistake, as a kind of rejection / misunderstanding of their own identity

Even though I like the new Disney logo, every time I see the original Walt Disney pictures logo, it brings a smile to my face and a tear to my eye because it's the logo I grew up with. This video is pure nostalgia for me and I like how you played around with the different fonts.
I would like to thank you for this very kind comment and feedback. This logo is a real cocktail of nostalgia. It has become so iconic in cinema history. Sometimes seeing it again while watching studio classics is like opening a magical door to a world of nostalgia.

Procreate is really a great tool to create all these different layer and shorts animations/GIFs such as the Pixie Dust effect or the little flags. It took me quite some time to complete this little project. Thankies for your very sweet feedback!

For the 80s Gaumont logos, I think I could try this, it's not on my to do list since I already remade a Gaumont logo in a previous video, but I suppose it'll be a good opportunity to do something again related to that famous french studio :)

The Petition is to Bring Back this Beloved Classic Disney Logo
Since Steamboat Willie is now public domain, this actually would make a really, really good replacement for the current Walt Disney Animation Studios logo. The only minor gripe I have with this is the arc over the castle not being perfectly centered, but regardless, this is immaculate work!

This was so beautiful it made me emotional. It reminds me of the good times… before Bob Iger started green lighting hundreds of pointless remakes… before the quantity over quality model… back when the beauty of hand drawn animation used to be their bread and butter.
This is the kind of logo that would be so nostalgic to future generations just as the OG logo is for us today.. I wish they’d use this logo instead of the ones they’re currently using.
Also, BRING BACK THE DEEP BLUE (please) DISNEY! It feels more magical contrasted next to white (or lighter blue) highlights. The current teal is far too generic, and blends in a dull way to other colors/shades…

I grew up watching a lot of silver age Disney movies on VHS. I don’t consider myself someone who gets very nostalgic for old media but that old font with the slightly yellowish coloring just hits different

My favourite version of the Disney logo is the early 2000s one. I associate it fondly with Cars and Ratatouille, which I think were some of the last films to use it.

Hey, I'm currently applying to get a job at Disney as a storyboard artist. Maybe your logo remake should be the next official Disney opening logo! I'm not kidding you, I see great potential in your creation. Maybe once I've changes things at Disney, why don't you have your logo remake be the official opening logo for my future Disney movies? Would be nice if this was what Disney was officially using for their logo today as far as a simple upscaling of their classic 90s logo. Not every modern film logo should need to be realistically detailed and immersive CGI animation like the one they had come up with with all the water and flashy fireworks. A lot of the magical charm that came out of their 90s castle logo was in its simplicity.

Actually they never quit 2D...they are just only using it for some TV series... But gosh, I wished since so many years their return to traditional 2D for movies and each time I'm disappointed with the announcement of another CGI animated film...

Interesting stuff. Frankly, I don’t see why they went with the castle as the movie logo other than the fact that it is the same logo they used for Disneyland’s 30th anniversary. My dad even used to have a sweatshirt for that. I guess they thought the Buena Vista title card was getting too long in the tooth, and starting with a picture of Mickey Mouse would’ve been inappropriate for certain subject matter they were trying to do justice to at the time.
Honestly, I preferred the Buena Vista logo.

I wish too, and that's why I did this...to show that you don't need three tons of CGI to make a great logo. Sometimes juste being simple works far better.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind the current Disney logo, but I much prefer the original (and I *love* this remake you made). In fact, I kept hoping they would debut a new logo that was more similar to the classic one for their 100th anniversary.

@@TheRemakerChannel yes! The Saving Mr. Banks Logo was hands down my favourite they have done in a long, long time. But then again, I adored that movie and the original Mary Poppins is by far my favourite classic and live action Disney movie, so maybe I’m a little biased. I do like when they play homage to the original castle logo though. For example, one of my favourite more recent ones was the one they did for the Incredibles 2.

I admit that could be a nice idea. I didn't get the opportunity to test that. Actually I simply incorporated their current logo into mine. I simply changed the color of "Walt Disney" into yellow because I thought it was giving some sort of "old classic" vibes :) maybe at some point I'll revisit what I did

0:38 i think it needs a change for the font of the word "Pictures" in the font of "Arial" Font.
I redrew the original font from the original 1985 logo, I wanted to keep the same design, that's why I didn't put another one. The only font change I did was to add volume/shadows to the "Walt Disney" letters

I remade this logo from scratch, as I said on the video and in the description, using Procreate and Vegas Pro. I wish I could work for them and try to do my best to give them nice ideas but things does not work this way ^^

Did you use my 3D Walt Disney text?
Hello, it's actually not a 3D text, it's a drawing I did on Procreate. Since I'm a digital artist I never use someone else creations, I made everything from scratch by myself. That's a good way to avoid being accused of stealing stuff from other artists. I wouldn't like it to be done to me, so I have no reason to do it to others. If I eventually use other people creations I always put their name in the credits like I did with my previous "Song of the South" project :)
