  • Join us as we venture through San Francisco's District 4 with Supervisor Joel Engardio. Did you know the Sunset used to be sand dunes? In this episode, Supervisor Joel Engardio guides us on a tour of the Sunset and shows us how sand dunes, with a little mix of ocean, small business, and a whole lot of community driven residents, turned into an ever-thriving district. From small business owners to Sunset families, residents tell us why District 4 is the reason they love San Francisco.
Whether you're a longtime resident or just visiting, join us as we Discover District 4!

Please see Paul Kozakiewicz's commentary in the Richmond Review / Sunset Beacon regarding the Great Highway. No on Prop K.

Giddy, exuberant, unequivocal standing ovation over here. What a great video. What a great vision of what the Sunset is and what the Sunset might yet be.

the great highway is such a great draw to the nighborhood when it's open as a park

The name is Upper Great Highway and NOT Great Highway Park. We want to know who is calling it a Park. It’s NOT A PARK!! Golden Gate Park is just a few steps away. That’s the park…
We will sue those people who are falsely trying to rename it.

Just keep the Upper Great Highway open to cars on the weekdays. Saying it's "Open for all" or they're "sharing" it with everyone if it becomes a "park", is NOT open for all!

When Great Hwy is closed on weekdays, that doesn't eliminate the need for cars and trucks to get through San Francisco, it just forces them onto the outer avenues, creating more congestion. Why close it on weekdays? So retired people and work from home transplants don't have to wait until the weekend to walk or ride (in the wrong direction), while those of us that are working suffer in the congestion? Unbelievably stupid and disrespectful.

This video fails to point out all the inconsiderate dog owners that let their dogs crap on the sidewalks and planters (and leave it behind), and pee all over buildings, apartments, and houses. Not to mention running off leash, chasing shorebirds, and also, crapping on the beach to leave it behind.

Leave the Great Highway as it was intended to be, a Highway, not The Great Parkway.
