Shaving off the Goatee with PAA Double Open Comb Ascension & Zeus-“God of Thunder” Soap & Aftershave

- Movember is over, so I’ll be shaving off the goatee in todays shave. I’ll be using the PAA Double Open Comb Ascension Razor with one of PAA’s new DE Blades. Also using Master Soap Creations “Zeus God of Thunder” Soap and Aftershave available at West Coast Shaving.

This tallow-based soap recipe is a dream. It checks all the boxes for wet shavers. It is easy to lather, glides like a dream with excellent slickness, provides cushion to protect your skin from the blade, long lasting for multiple passes, and a lovely post-shave face feel.
If you love Body Kouros, you’ll love Zeus God of Thunder. This aroma is an homage to that spicy, amber scent made popular by Yves Saint Laurent. The top notes of eucalyptus and incense which into heart notes of Chinese cedar and clary sage. All this rests on a base of benzoin.
Size: 170g/6oz approx.
Ingredients: stearic acid, shea butter, potassium hydroxide, purified aqua, vegetable glycerine, avocado oil, bentonite clay, sodium hydroxide, pure essential oils, fragrance oils, tallow.

Ken, I received and used the Ascension razor yesterday and got the closest shave I’ve ever gotten and I own and have used every razor under $100 known to man for more than 10 years. I purchased the Ambassador Rex razor several years ago and have never gotten a good shave from that razor and it cost like $295. Crazy. Doug and PAA are my shaving hero’s.

Great shave. We got ourselves a pre lit tree this year and it felt great to only take 5-10 minutes to put together whereas our other fake tree would take 20-30 minutes.

Nice shave Ken💈💈 Another "Movember" in the archives, came and went pretty quick. Yep, with the goatee gone the air will feel fresh on the face for awhile. I use alum every shave, part of my routine and just feels good on the skin. Soap looked good and sounds like it smells good too. Nice razor, somewhat adjustable and not really aggressive. Cutting the Christmas Tree, now that brings back memories.. Great video, thanks. Stay safe, good health. Enjoy!

MSC's products are flat out amazing. If you haven't tried them yet, and if you're a fan of the original scents, I highly recommend Nordic Croco (their take on Davidoff Cool Water) and The Chieftain (their take on Hugo Boss). Those were my signature scents in my late teens/early 20s in the mid-to-late 90s, and MSC absolutely NAILED IT with those scents. One whiff and I felt 20 years younger...until I bent over and my back said "kerrr-*RACK*" that is. 😅

Great shave Ken taking off goatee and that blade from Paa seems pretty darn sharp one thing I wouldn’t do is not loading de blade with soapy fingers rather load it before even touch soap container

Simply impressive! That razor in combination with those blades in the right hands - unbeatable. I have the copper version of the Double Open Comb Ascension Razor. A fantastic razor and I don't "need" the gun metal version, but I'm sure that at some point I will not be able to resist bying that version also. Thanks for a great video!

Fwiw, that red tip color is what GSC should've utilized on their Red Tip Tribute razor, instead of the toylike shade of red they opted for. How did those blades feel, relative to other popular brands?

i used the blue Kouros in the 1990´s Deodorant, found the EDT, aftershave body wash...never tried the one you show though, i don´t shave too long stubble i trim them with the Philips one blade first, no cuts, anyways great shave n´video. Stay safe cheers....Peter
Hey Ken. Nice shave today. I believe Douglas could easily use this shave as an endorsement for his razor and new blades. I just got the new Star Wisp brush and I have to say it would have been icing on the cake if you had used one. I love mine.

Ken, that blade seems extremely sharp. I recently shaved with a Shark blade. I found it very aggressive. No nicks just raw skin.

Thanks to your videos, I have decided to give this style of shaving a try. I ordered me a starter kit from Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements last week and cant wait until it gets here. A couple of questions, and sorry if you have answered these in past videos. 1) what is the maximum hair length that you want to try and shave off 2) what blades are best for coarse hairs 3) How should I prep my face to get the most enjoyment from my first shave. @@whiteberry8785 Thanks for the info, I did my first wet shave today and I learned a pretty good lesson. Dont try and shave off half inch hairs. I should of knocked it down first. Overall it turned out fine, had a difficult time with the chin but I'll learn how to do it smoothly.

Looks like a great aggressive razor. By the way, buy a drain screen for the tub. It will save you a lot of aggravation by catching all the hair. My GF has long hair and it catches all of it. No more clogs!!

Great video Ken, I was wondering which razor be best to remove long beard, looks like Butterfly closed comb razors are not the best due to clogging, this JAWS took your Goatee like nothing.

I've thought that the right way to shave off a beard is to first use a scissors to trim it down, then use a razor for the rest.
