It’s the awesome torpedo spread that gives a BIG advantage…
the reason this works so well is the thing that takes out the planes isnt necessary the cvs aa its the combat air patrol (unless its the ranger or you eat flack) and the problem with the combat air patrol is its range is bad plus if you recall your squad they will drop aggro

All the carriers should be able to select if you want two plans for planes eight planes

I'm now grinding Russia. Skip bombs and torpedoes work so well together because they're both broadside weapons, so you can build a whole playstyle around it

I started with USS cvs and they wasn’t fun until you could drop 6 bombs per drop(some years ago)
Personally I really hate the Soviet aircraft carriers!!!.. I understand why people would go for them but it’s not fun when you’re a carrier that has a lower advantage such as lack of speed. however I’ve managed to actually learn their weaknesses.
It isn't trolling it is just the optimal move strategically because you are taking out the one ship that is worth the most points on the scoreboard, can hit anyone anywhere, and the only way to manually counter them is evasive maneuvers; so if simply just makes sense
You could still just do 2 runs in tier VII and put fear in the other CV.
Inspirations: Raizo Tanaka and Deng Schishang with every ability for torps -> Man, he dead.
There are many counters to the Russian CVs and if you cant dodge those slow ass torps.... maybe you need to play something else. they're not OP you just need to play a bit better, next players will be saying a 50K citadel from a battleship is OP when you shouldn't be showing your broadside!

Ha, I just assumed there was an unwritten rule that carriers didn’t attack carriers.
I can see at tier V they typically shred planes but at tier iii that’s less the case.
My favorite ship is the furious my usual strategy if it presents itself is to drop my 1st set of torps on a battleship preferably or a cruiser then use my remaining 4 planes to make it to the carrier and hit that with 2nd set hopefully getting any sort of incapacitation forcing the carrier to automatically use damage control then hit them with the bombs doing good damage but with the main goal of atarting fires I've been able to take out carriers with 2 attacks this way
Anyone that uses the term 'Carrier Sniping" is unfamiliar with naval warfare tactics.
Using the Battle of Midway as a reference "Carrier Sniping" is fast quick strategy specially when using the Serov alpha strike. ( great minds think alike)
Depending on the strategic quality of my team mates. Hunting down the enemy carrier within the first few mintues will guarantee a win. Specially like you said if your enemy carrier is a higher tier. Ark Royal, Lexington etc....sink as soon as possible. Which is the carrier primary purpose in naval warfare. ( Many a WOW players seem not to know this )
However when hunting down CV's any DD that I find gets a blast just to lower their life. As well as scouting their position for my teams mates ...if they notice.
Keeping the Serov moving as great way to keep alive. My favorite move is support any good aggressive move into a cap. Best A or C, cause B will get you out flanked and harder to defend. Support a good strong aggressive push and clear one side of game field. Then start working your way down the line. A few times have had toe to toe shoot outs with secondaries with enemy CV's in their own back field cause we pushed so hard.
Plus alot of inexperience players seem to play their CV stationary or hiding behind a island. Bad move, sunk many who play like this.
If spotted by unseen DD again "Zig Zag Pattern" as torpedo defense . Again tradition naval tactic work in this game.
If you aim "skip bomb" at CV waterline, you will get citadel or 2, push "fire". Leaving just one more aplha strike for a kill. Skip bombing is perfect for fast moving DDs I find.
There are a lot of 1st shooter gamers playing WOW, so not worried when I hear or see ppl playing like Rambo. "Micro Transitioners" a term my 19 yr old Twitch gaming son calls people who pay for all the fixings . Without learning how to play or strategize . There are tons in WOW.
This dad has been playing WOW since 2019 and haven't paid a single penny. Just on my game play have accorded all the Commanders, just reached tier VII. Earned all but 2 trophies and have a 3k ship sunk in 5k of battles. With a 33 % main gun rate, 16 % torpedos.

One thing to add that reinforces the "cv counter" idea is that serov is the only one who drops a group of 5 fighters, that leaves one plane left in a squad. Lmao
I’ve done this but if your staying still you’re already a newb, the torps are ultra slow
So it’s kinda like old carrier aircrafts before the carrier rework patch on pc.
actually, at least for us and Japan carriers is better to use skip bombers, well aimed they mostly get citadel damage, it means 5-6 cits or like 30k dmg in one drop

@@Chiligamez17 this was way too strong as well. I don’t understand how it’s so hard to make every nation equally strong. Right now there is no doubt that Russian and German CV‘s are stronger than eg American ones and they don’t seem to change that
if only there was a consumable the other CV had where you could decimate the enemies CV planes with some form of fighter plane... Nah lets moan on TH-cam instead.

@@Kenneth_McGrew those fighters take to long till they attack they always allow one attack run. The only way would be to place your fighters before which will be hard when you have better targets in the opposite direction

Tbh I dont know why wows is adding ships that don’t really exist into a world war 2 naval combat game. It just makes the ships that actually did exist seem terrible to play as
The only Navy that was laying down ships in great numbers toward the end of WW2 was the USN. Wargaming needs to release planned ships at this point to keep content going into the game. Soon there will be completely fictional ships that are added........probably.

the other thing you should be doing with the Soviet carriers is pushing up as much as you can because the closer you are to your attack point the faster you can cycle planes out and the more dangerous and deadly you become! you can easily chunk out 100k damage in under 5 minutes if you're within 6km of your target on the other side of a mountain. it's literally fire and forget technology and you simple just grab another squad and drop, grab squad and drop, grab squad and drop... it's nearly endless and tends to push the enemy back. the rocket planes are capable of hitting high damage salvos on battleships as well as setting numerous fires. the Soviet carrier line is probably the most broken thing to come out in the last 6 months...

Absolute bs wow legends have nerfed it to the hilt 2 runs 30 secs flight 6 broadside hits no damage no fires level 16 legend 3 level cmdr 2 inspiration cmdr level 16 legend 3 happening every game now like just take CVS out if your gonna do this then let dds have a free run well done developers!!!

This strat isn't worth it. Go ahead and waste 4 minutes. In that time I'll waste your DD(s), and pick apart an entire flank while you're letting your team be left out for easy picking

These Russian carriers have all the things that put them above the rest. Very fast, hard to damage, wide skipping high damage bombs, and fanned torpedoes. Such insulting bias bullshit, idk how they keep acting like they're not favoring russian ships.
To me the Russian CV is tier 10.
They Nerfed the hell out of CV's - cant do this anymore with the fuel limits.. Go Figure!
Wargaming sees people having fun, and then quickly find a way to end the "Fun"
