  • Cities and combined authorities have a role in addressing economic inactivity. By implementing targeted policies, they can create opportunities for employment and skills development, particularly in areas with high inactivity rates. Many regions have underinvested in training and job support, contributing to economic disparities. Reforming local strategies - paired with further devolved powers - to focus on job creation, improving access to education, and attracting investment are essential steps. This event will explore the role of local government in tackling inactivity, and to explore solutions to the UK’s employment challenges.
