DynaShift, not Dyna4 gearbox in a 6290. Good old beasts in ccls form like yours. We had two of them. YX51EHB was ccls, bought new sold with 5800hrs on it in spring 2006 for a new 7480 that was a game changer. That stayed until 12000hrs in 2018 when a 3yo 1500hr 7618 VT replaced it that is still here. YY52RVP (I think!) was only open centre, not quite as versatile. It left in 2008 with 5400hrs for a 6490 that ate its final drives and synchros several times (!) That left with 7000hrs in 2015 for a new 7620 VT that is still here. I drove YX51 from new, it replaced a dog of a 6170 which replaced a good 3085 that replaced a 2wd 399. The 7480 was fantastic but the 7618 is better. Most impressive tractors we've got from the early 00's has to be the long wheelbase 7400's. We still have a 13,000hr 7490 and bought another 4000hr 2004 7495 last year. The one that got away? Definitely a 2006 7495. What on earth was I thinking!!!
@@SpudSlingsby I just love reading this, I can absolutely appreciate the love of machines that shines through. Definitely the long wheelbase 7400 are unbelievable tractors and for us with lots of hills there traction is unreal still very agile for the longer frame. 6100 range did Massey harm in this part of the world. One that got away is I loved our 3115
You say its a good reliable tractor so why are you replacing it why not run it into the ground this is why farmers are crying about money because you spending your profits to avoid paying tax and at the same time crying asking the tax payers to fund your life style most farmers are in financial difficulties because they cant work with what they have they want the latest bit of kit or what ever the neighbour has bought I worked for a farmer 50 years ago as a school boy he cut the silage wit a small Zetor drew it in with a massey 35 and buckraked it in with a 135 he continued to farm with those 3 tractors until he retired 20 years ago he milked 80 cows when most people were only milking 30 he didnt push the world infront of him or buy every bit of ground within a 10 mile radius .He had a lovely house and changed his car every 2 years he made a ball of money maybe its time to go back to the old days
Their is a lot of sense in what you say some farmers have shiny metal disease and an inability to let the neighbours do whatever without having to out match them. However I have sold this one as a necessity to fuel cash flow while waiting on funds for the farm sale coming through. My frontline tractor is 2010 my sprayer 2008, my combine 2005 and my telehandler 2002. So be careful about prejudging everyone.
Loved my 6280 Massey in a lot of ways I wish I didn’t sell it
Was looking at a 6290 two days ago, £22,500 was the price on it so your 100% right when you say that tractor doesn't cost you any money

As for your 6290 replacement, is it to be a back up or frontline tractor? I'm thinking 6480 if its a back up and 7s180 if its a frontliner.
