I think their relationship could have progressed well after, but having XXC himself kill SL was just crossing the line of no return. But that could also be me being hopeful that the ship would sail because let's face it, those that come from righteous sects don't really listen well to those they consider villains. And an entire clan for a pinky may be a bit too much really but you know, karma.
