I always look forward to Cécile publishing another dance by Chestnut on this site, and what an absolutely superb addition this one is to an already impressive repertoire!

Possibly, our first goal is beautiful dancing, besides chestnut balls cater for the four main periods of Countrydancing : Arbeau and Playford- 18th century- Regency-traditional and modern. We cannot change costume four times so the dress code is Regency-Empire which is not accurate for The Merry Merry Milkmaids published in 1651 and certainly older than that. On top of that I have revisited the dance so it is not the John Playford version either. Thank you for watching
Yes indeed it is the Chestnut revised version of the John Playford dance edited in 1651. This version and a simpler one will be danced at the Chestnut period ball due June 9th. Thank you for watching
We used to do this at school in "country dancing" class 60 yrs ago.
Wonderful as usual
Thanks so much for such beauty
Fantastic dancing by all! I do chuckle that literally every male head was balding. As hilarious as the dance is charming!

Bravo pour cette belle danse, c'est magnifiquement réalisé.
Merci Stéphane. Nous avons prévu des stages à Paris en juillet. l'annonce devrait te parvenir dans les jours qui viennent
Wonderful. So pretty
O i say my uncle Mr Scrooge is here! For a dance!
Following these dances that people were used to ,you can see how the waltz was so shocking .
indeed
Impressionné par le nombre astronomique de lacets dans cette chorégraphie !
La danse de Playford est plus simple et plus prévisible, mais très agréable quand même
The costumes worn for this recording are a mixture from different periods.
