Since you found the Pelikan royal blue interessting: like a few other royal blue inks, i. e. Lamys, it is "erasable". Here in Germany there is something we call an "ink killer" that has one side that contains a liquid that makes the blue ink disappear and then another side that allows you to write on top (though it always annoyed me that that blue was more vibrant that the ink). In the past they did actually erase ink. You can still buy erasers that usually have a red rubber part for pencil and a blue, harder rubber for ink. Kinda tears up the paper though. Not very light fast though. My notes from 15 years ago look very pale now, even though they were kept in a dark spot. This erasable quality and but even more the fact that it is extremely washable (it won't stain, not even clothing) is the reason it is usually required in school when teaching how to write with a fountain pen. And that is why the royal blue ink is the most sold one in Germany.
Oh, and also it is considered the least abrasive ink there is, which is why, when you try a Pelikan pen at their store they only allow you to dip it into their royal blue ink. According to them it can even be used to help get dried up ink residue out of a pen.
Beautiful pen! I love the colour; reminds me of the Sailor Stormy Sea. Question unrelated to this pen: what would you use to glue two empty cartridges together, please? I'm thinking of doing that with Sailor cartridges. Sacrifice the back end of the first, sacrifice the front end of the second, file to make them even, then glue them. I'd like a longer cartridge, but don't know how to do it. :)
I dont have any sailor cartridges to look at as a reference. But when I look at the international standard ones I see the front has a tapper. If I were to glue two together, I would probably cut the back off one, and take advantage of the tapper so it slips inside the back of the other one about 1-2mm to help with alignment and sealing. Cartridges, I believe, are usually made out of a type of PE (polyethylene), I think specifically HDPE (high-density polyethylene). Its a tricky plastic as you don't "glue" it, it needs to be bonded. The one glue that comes to mind is the Loctite Plastics Bonding System. They have other plastic "glues" but they don't bond PE. To bond PE types, typically there is a primer to prepare the surface. Have a look at the package if you're going into a store to see if it specifically states it bonds with PE, many say "not to be used with PE" as it is a different plastic.

The pens look great, but I've had a pretty bad experience when chatting with them. I had a series of questions about shipping to Norway, as there was no information listed on their website. After about 3 weeks I got a reply just saying "I don't know. Dont bother ordering". I tried clarifying that I was very interested in buying a pen, but due to strict customs policies here, I needed some specific information about the shipping prosess before placing an order. It took another week until I got the reply "I said I dont know". Its a shame, because the pens do look great, but without knowing how its shipped to Norway, I'm at a risk of paying well over double in customs. After doing some reading about other people experiences, it seems I am not alone. There was one case of a buyer recieving the wrong pen. After months of trying to exchange it they asked for a refund, where they got a response saying they could have saved both of them a lot of trouble if they just asked for a refund right away. It's not fun to speak badly about a small company like this, that cleary cares about making great pens, but I dont feel like this is the proper way to treat customers. Hopefully this is just an exception, and for the most part their support is more helpful, but I can only speak from my own experience and what I've read.

Hello, I hope you are doing well. Where can I purchase a Flagship Gravitas Torque-Silver-Color in the USA in California with dollars in currency? The European site is too suspicious, and I read many complaints about this company and its manner in Europe. Very best regards, and thank you for your attention and consideration.
There are quite a lot of super long fountain pens when posted. They look funny. Others are super thick. The first should be reduced when posted and used with two cartridges as you show. The thicker should be able to use a new bigger cartridges not arrived yet. But designers do not hear. In fact the perfect pen has not show up to now. Regards.
Sometimes you need to stop and think, maybe there isn't a bigger cartridge for a reason, maybe the guys designing these pens have thought about this before. You want more capacity then go get an eyedropper pen, huge capacity.
Can you convince Ben to make some slide-on clips, a la Kaweco sports, that would fit his pocket and Entry pens? I'd be a lot more interested in getting one if a clip was available. The no clip is a real deal breaker for me, because I carry my pens in my shirt pocket, and anything that isn't clipped just falls out when I lean over. That's really the ONLY thing I can criticize about Gravitas pens.
You overestimate my powers LOL. I don't have the ability to influence how Ben designs his pens etc. He'll check in with me to bounce ideas off me and stuff like that. He knows that some people want a clip, but I wouldn't hold your breath on that at the moment
Clips are handy, maybe he'll have one in the future. I used to stray from round pens with no clips, but have several now and hasn't been an issue for me. Mind you I don't carry pens in shirt/jacket pockets. Keeps mine in pen cases when I'm out & about.
I've already done those test in previous videos. The pens pass that orientation, even ones that don't seal. Interesting things happen when you see what it takes for something to fail
I like metal pens like that but i find them pretty uncomfortable so i haven't really dive into them. I have a karas customs decograph which i really like but not much more than that. To be honest i prefer plastic ( the quality stuff ) because it gives a warm and more natural feel while writing. At this point in time find myself using the scrikss 419 very often. Although its relatively small ( i have big hands) its actually very comfortable, it just melts between your fingers and the nib is not bad ( given the price and size) and with a little bounce to it. Have you checked that pen?
Gravitas is making really good pens. This one is no exception.

I don't have any discount codes. The odd time he has a sale and will post it on his IG and website
White Glove in the dorm??? - NO! - White Glove inspection in the Barracks!
Only Sentry is available in Delrin material. Not Entry
Ahhh yes my mistake
Tell Ben to make us a clip :)
Clips aren't that cool anymore
@@benwalsh9257 but they are immensely practical XD.
@@thuntz29 it's practical for around 5% of the market. If I was to add a clip for the 5% it would raise the price for the 95% ...which I wouldn't want to ever do
@@benwalsh9257 mmm ok, could we get a clip as an add on like Kaweco does?
Hello,
I hope you are doing well.
Where can I purchase a Flagship Gravitas Torque-Silver-Color in the USA in California with dollars in currency? The European site is too suspicious, and I read many complaints about this company and its manner in Europe.
Very best regards, and thank you for your attention and consideration.
He is based in Ireland and I can assure you there's nothing suspicious. He does great work.

Hello,
Thank you for your response.
Best regards,
There are quite a lot of super long fountain pens when posted.
I’d love to see a faceted cap and body. Whether a hexagon, octagon, or decagon would be best I’m not sure.
That might be a cool look for sure
Can you convince Ben to make some slide-on clips, a la Kaweco sports, that would fit his pocket and Entry pens? I'd be a lot more interested in getting one if a clip was available. The no clip is a real deal breaker for me, because I carry my pens in my shirt pocket, and anything that isn't clipped just falls out when I lean over. That's really the ONLY thing I can criticize about Gravitas pens.
You overestimate my powers LOL. I don't have the ability to influence how Ben designs his pens etc. He'll check in with me to bounce ideas off me and stuff like that. He knows that some people want a clip, but I wouldn't hold your breath on that at the moment
wish the pens had a clip option
Clips are handy, maybe he'll have one in the future. I used to stray from round pens with no clips, but have several now and hasn't been an issue for me. Mind you I don't carry pens in shirt/jacket pockets. Keeps mine in pen cases when I'm out & about.
You are missing out on data by not doing nib up bro
I've already done those test in previous videos. The pens pass that orientation, even ones that don't seal. Interesting things happen when you see what it takes for something to fail
dbag haha😅
I put up a poll with options for the test name, and DBAG was the overwhelming clear winner!

Boom!
Nope never heard of it but just looked it up. Thanks for sharing 👍
