You can tell Angus really holds Malcolm in very high esteem. He never wastes any time telling people how smart Malcolm was as the leader of the band. The fact Angus still talks to Mal and George in his head (metaphorically speaking) is just super powerful to me. It shows how influential Malcolm Young truly was as a musician, he really was the creative impetus behind AC/DC, and Angus just wants to keep the band going and try and keep it up to his brother’s standards, and I find that extremely admirable. Cheers Angus 🍻
I agree with you, I read an interview with Angus many years ago and part of it included questions sent in by readers. Somebody had asked "What does it feel like when people say you are the best guitarist in the world?" Angus laughed and said, "ha, I'm not even the best guitarist in ACDC! Genuinely humble and respectful of his brother.

Brian said when Rock or Bust came out the last time he saw Malcolm he told Brian and Angus keep the band going keep playing. The back of that album had the two guitars together and it said for Mail. I think Angus feels he let Malcolm down with the way the tour ended and even began with Phil. But also songs were not that good. So I think he felt he needed to do a little better. Malcolm was in charge and always last word. He was the brains of the band. Great interview by 60 minutes that Angus and Brian really got emotional
I think Brian needs more credit for stepping into Bons shoes and for his vocals alone.

I tend to try to say something similar to the Jeff Beck / Dream Theater guitarists who will always take the high ground when I mention AC/DC. Though most of the time I just confront them with "Oh, you can play AC/DC like Malcolm?" which always works - they don't want to claim that while there's a playable guitar in the room :P
I have massive respect for Brian coming back after such a sour situation with his hearing. Class act number one. No human like him.
He said the experimental treatment to correct his hearing looked like a battery out of 1 of his Hot Rods in the Garage HA!!

I died when he said "the crowd is having such a massive party before the show that we just go on and spoil it".
Also I love how cool they are talking about Malcolm. They're not super emotional they just talk about how good he was and the memories they had with him.
ACDC will always be Malcom Young's band. Not many people know what an accomplished Jazz guitarist he was. As a rhythm player he could solo the house down, but as band leader, the rhythm section was too important. RIP Malcom, what a massive contribution to art.

This is my only caveat on this interview, I do wish Brian had mentioned his name. I can't right now even remember it (my bad) but I read an interview just a few days ago where said gentleman was exceedingly gracious in his comments regarding BJ and the way he shared it around with/promoted it to other prominent (and aging) musicians so I'll give him a pass on this little oversight 😉🤘
I would love to see a documentary about Malcolm Young.
God I love their accents, especially Brian’s. The music is one thing but Brian’s Geordie accent is like honey and gunpowder.
Geordie is actually a dialect from Brian’s hometown of Newcastle in Northern England. It is also the name of the band he was in prior to joining AC/DC.
I could listen to Angus and Brian talk all night.

At first I wanted to do some real horrible name calling in regards to your comment. Phil! Are you crazy!? I love Brian Johnson too but saying "Bon was good"? Bon was good!? Brian might have made AC DC what they are today but what they are today isn't 100th of what they were in 1974. Phil please go back and take a hard listen to AC DC from 74-79. You don't have to apologize but please think more before you say crazy stuff.

I love the fact Angus has always seemed like the driving force in the band, the all powerful and revered rock guitar God yet you come to find out his brothers Malcolm and George really gave him most of his direction and rearing throughout the years. The comment that Malcolm lives up in his head and still talks to him every day after his passing says a lot.
I heard that Malcom is better than angus, but rather seat back and let Angus out front of the show.
Love these two. Not an ounce of ego, humble lads. Brian hasn't changed much at 73. Angus has aged a bit, looking his age finally. Don't know where they get the energy at that age. Good on them.

Out of ALL the bands over the years; I can truly say AC/DC is the rock n roll you can turn to and never be let down. It's like an old friend that you trust.

Their spot on 60 Minutes (Australia) was pretty awesome too. A lot shorter but man, Angus nearly choked talking about Malcolm, the interviewer teared up and I honestly openly cried. Very emotional to say the least. After nearly 50 years as a band these blokes are finally letting us in and it's beautiful 🙏🤘
I'm sure Malcolm is smiling down and very proud of his little brother and the band! Rock on guy's your the best!

You nailed it Donna.. THEY are so down-to-earth! Very humble yet both still striving to get even better.. one gets the feeling. In particular. Brian has taken a bit of flak over the years with his unique vocal sound... BUT particularly with Black Ice' and beyond he has blown me away with his sound improvement....
What troopers... both of them.. The way Angus never takes himself too seriously.. you`d never guess he is a guitar virtuoso.
These men have so much respect for one another that's why they are so successful good for them!
Angus and Brian are so down-to-earth guys...I love them since I'm a teenager. Now I'm 50....🙏🤘

It’s like I hear myself talking. I’m 50 too and Angus/ACDC was my inspiration to go and play guitar when I was 17 years old
I first saw them in 79. Been a fan ever since. I was 18
They say you shouldnt meet your heroes because they will only dissapoint you. Not these 2. Angus and Brian can only be described as sweethearts. Which is a strange thing to say about a pair of hard rockers. So open and gracious; its impossible not to love these two guys. Great interview by Zane as well, really well done.

This is the best interview I have ever seen with Angus and ACDC.. Angus really explains well what Malcolm was like, how he encouraged Angus and how Malcolm was the engine of AcDc.. And the brilliant relationship Angus had with his brother, I shed a Tear or two watching this but it's so great to see Brian and Angus back... For those about to Rock 🤘.....
Gotta say I’ve never seen angus or Bryan open up this much in an interview

AC/DC to me will always be the greatest “working man’s” rock n roll band of all time.

The thing I love about Brian is that he makes me feel like I've been friends with him for years, even though I haven't met him. I feel like I'm having a conversation with him when I watch stuff like this even though I've never been able to say anything to him. He always puts a smile on my face and makes me happy, ever since I first got into AC/DC before I could walk. thank you Brian. You've inspired me as a 17 year old to pick up my guitar, microphone, drums and bass and give it my best shot to make more rock n roll in the world.

The most intelligent and heartfelt interview done with Angus and Brian. The telecon format seem to find them more relaxed and open for conversation.
Cannot express enough gratitude to the interviewer and the quality/depth of his questions. Like all fan comments have said the band is forever legend. However, the tangible connection felt listening to this interview profoundly reflects where the lads are at in this chapter of their epic history. Reflective & content.
I think zane did a great job here. Really got them to open up and came across as really respectful. Loved it.
I feel the absolute radio interview was much better, this interviewer just can't shut up, he even spoke more than angus and brian combined.

I felt so bad for Angus when he lost both George and Malcolm less than three weeks apart from each other. I was sadder knowing that Malcolm didn't even know George passed away, due to his dementia.

What a wonderful interview. There's not that many lengthy, sit-down interviews with Angus out there where the questions aren't all the same as other interviews. These were good questions and I enjoyed someone picking his brain about his music philosophy, his brothers, etc.

God Bless AC/DC...there is a glimmer of light in this Dark Year and that glimmer of light is a kickass album POWER UP..So great that Brian,Phil and Cliff are back in the fold.. Malcolm would be so proud and Brian's voice sounds incredible you would never imagine that he is 73 years old.
Probably the freshest and the healthiest I've seen Angus and Bryan in years they really are powered up for this new era and I got to say the new album really is amazing and well worth the wait ... it's the same old AC⚡DC record but with a refreshing sprinkle of something new .... well done guys it's totally amazing to have you back and looking so alive and well, I really can't wait for this covid thing to disappear so that we can get a chance to see you back home on the stage doing your thing 🤟🏻

Went to an outdoor ACDC stadium concert 5 years ago. Without doubt the loudest concert I've every been to. My ears have still not recovered. Loved it!

For anyone unaware what Angus is referring to- Axl had a broken foot while touring with both GNR and AC/DC, so he borrowed Dave Grohl's 'rock throne' (a cool stage seat, with guitar necks and lights etc). It was constructed when Dave broke his leg and had to tour with Foo Fighters.
Angus cracks me up. What a legend.
Malcolm just amazes me. Hes a rather introverted, quiet guy who, through the guitar, is literally larger than life. Same for the rest of the members but Malcolm really embodies that.

I love how seemingly down to earth they seem. Nothing pretentious just a love for their art form.
This was like sitting around with older family members, asking questions about the who, why, what, where, unlocking things you'd always wondered.

Most people don’t know this but all the song credits are Young and Young. Reason is that Angus sings all the parts on a demo then they move the key around that suits Brian. Brain hears what Angus has put down and the way Angus wants it go. I didn’t know that until Angus said that on a Twitter Q and A

The thing about AC/DC is they have stayed the course through it all. I'm 45 years old and there has always been an AC/DC my entire life.

AC/DC still puts chills down the back of my neck after all these years when their tunes come on ....Not many bands that can still do that for me ....lol. Just engery like no other.

I have to applaude Axel Rose for stepping in when he did, and making the show at the old Olympic Stadium, Stratford, London, UK so entertaining, even with a knackered foot. He was on time, knew all the songs perfectly and didn't try to steal the show from Angus and his colleagues. Having heard his reputation of being an a&*ehole in Guns & Roses, I was unsure if he was the right person, but he proved me completely wrong. He went up in my estimation because of that.
Axl an older man , I think people keep remembering the young volatile Axl.
I thot he was a good choice too. Did the job good but wasn't a presence that many would want around replacing brian. Perfect.
I've seen a full length show with him out of the chair (a bit later in the tour) and I've gotta say, as someone who had doubts, he smashed it. Also had the privilege of seeing Angus turn up - in jeans and a white t-shirt - for a cameo at a GnR gig in Sydney. Gotta say Axle has got his game together since way back when, full respect to him 🤘👍

This is one of the best interviews I have heard. So many interviewers want to be the story, instead of letting the interviewee have the spotlight. Questions were well thought out and gained extended responses from Brian and Angus. What great gentlemen and class acts. Kudos for a wonderful interview.
Seeing and hearing this smooths the soul. Hearing Angus talk about Mal in such a way is how important Malcolm was to him and the whole band. It was Malcolm's band front day dot. Without Malcolm with his directions who knows what would have happened. He was the rock, visionary and engine. R.I.P Mal ⚡️.. love this interview!
Simply the greatest rock and roll band the world has ever produced! Both Bon and Brian can never be replaced, both instantly recognisable with hearing only one word sung, both equally responsible for the legacy of ACDC! As far as Angus and Malcolm go, to write literally 100s of iconic riffs is superhuman, riffs that speaks fluently in every language across the globe, and riffs that will be heard for centuries!
Add Phil and Cliff’s precision beat and baseline to the mix and we have a band that has zero peers!!
I feel truly blessed, I was born in 1970, discovered the band through an older brother in 1976, and grew up having the greatest band in the world being there alongside me right up to now! Thank you ACDC🤘
I'm glad that Ac /Dc is back to rock and roll again this year because I grew up listening to them for fun and I know they miss Malcolm very much and I know they really do

If live shows are not possible, maybe a complete "Power Up" live video performance would be an ideal...a back to back live performance of each song from "Power Up" put on DVD, I'd buy that.
Idunno, no live audience to feed off of could be pretty awkward and lame. It would be like acting in a video shoot. Ya need a live audience for real excitement.

I remember sitting down with Steve DeMarchi (guitarist for ALIAS and touring guitar player with The Cranberries). He told me about the time The Cranberries toured Europe with AC/DC and The Stones. He said that Brian Johnson is such an amazing grounded person.
Still can’t believe they came back. Two years flew by fast. Love this album so much.
