Exhaust headers are one thing, but notice the block and heads glowing orange? Something went seriously wrong here - water injection system failed perhaps?
I DEFINITELY want my "high performance" diesel making the tubular steel headers glow instead of having that heat get to the turbo and out of the engine.
They do, actually. Every prostock tractor here is fitted with water injection. Not to get more power though. Mainly to cool the burning process in the combustion chambers. Allthough water injection could benefit torque, it is not the main reason.
Surprising how the manifolds can still maintain structure after getting so hot I’d imagine that they warp or deform a little bit but I guess not lol

water injection failed and he melted the turbine just at the end of the run which was why it fell off boost - probably saved the engine though.
Pretty sure the block and heads are fine, rather the header glowing off them
Otherwise no way the engine would still run

That’s just how a diesel of this caliber runs there’s really not a whole lot you can do aside from running a huge amount of NOS but idk the rules here

There was nothing wrong with the engine. It simply fell off the boil due to incorrect turbo sizing.
