One of the greatest motion picture directors of all time, possessing the keen eye of a film editor. Mr. Lean directed some of the best movies in film history. Although remembered for his epic films, it's the small, intimate scenes that are the most memorable. I still am in awe of this man. And it's all without CGI.
Lean has some of the prettiest movies ever made under his belt. I find that many people I know are completely unaware of him, and it deeply saddens me.
While I Don't entirely disagree.. ...the scope, and.. finality of such an assertion is problematic (at best)... Are You Speaking Comprehensively across his (Leans) entire cinematic lexicon or on an more intimate Individualized basis (i.e. specific films in particular)
David Lean, Including his cinematographers, were certainly in a class of their own. This is one of the very best clips I've seen in "The Beauty Of" library. Kudos to you sir.
A timeless master. I wish there was a film-maker like him making films now, but I'm so glad the world got Sir David Lean in it, and that he made films. Special mention to Freddie Young, his genius cinematographer.
A fantastic montage showing his undeniable skills as a Director and he was also an unbelievable Film 🎥 Editor to boot………thank you for the clips of my favourite director of all time, well so far!?!?! 🤔🙂🙏👏👍
I've been looking forward to this one, and once again you perfectly match audio and visual together, thank you. I think Leans version of Oliver Twist is the best one.
Wonderful movies, incredible stories of one of the greatest film directors of all time. This edition of "The beauty of" lived up to the beauty of cinematography and grandeur of David Lean's work. Congratulations!
Hi, I've been a subscriber for a year now and really appreciate the amazing work you do. And I just wanted to suggest that you do a video on Rumble Fish, which has one of the most creative and cool cinematographies I've ever seen. It kinda looks like Trainspotting in 1950s America shot in b/w.
RYAN S DAUGHTER is flabbergastingly GOOD. Just rewatched it ; needlessly declared a flawed 1. I hate critics, call em crickets. Lean s touch comes close to Zinneman s - in many respects. The era of cinematic geniuses is looong gone. 🇫🇮

Once again, perfect video.
Please, make The Beauty Of Hereditary.
"I think people remember pictures not dialogue. That's why I like pictures." - David Lean
He spoke facts with that
David Lean make the school of Vileneuve.
The way you begin and end with the "match cut", considered to be the greatest cut in film history, that was just the perfect tribute to David Lean.
The perfect cut for a video about the man with the perfect cut, I even think if I cut the music it would be even more epic.
Perhaps a tie with that iconic cut in 2001 by Stanley Kubrick.
Thinking better the video make a cycle, a perfect cycle.

Because if there had been CGI in his time, he would have mastered this technology like he mastered cameras.
This is by far one of the videos I've been looking forward to the most. Thank you.
They say you can freeze frame any second of a David Lean film, put a frame around it and hang it on your wall. One of the masters.
Lean has some of the prettiest movies ever made under his belt. I find that many people I know are completely unaware of him, and it deeply saddens me.
Our family’s greatest pride :)
You're from David's family ? :)
He was your relative? 😮😮😮
no other filmmaker has captured this specific balance of intimacy and grandeur in their films other than Lean. One of a kind he was

Imagine what David Lean could do today with a 70mm IMAX camera. The images he would make would be Godly
Lean usaba Panvision 70, o sea cinta para filmar y eso le daba el toque único a sus obras
opening & closing, by the greatest cut in cinema history and in between, magic.
Watched this edit 8 times now...i think you've sparked an interest in exploring Lean's filmography with this one. An amazing edit!
A fantastic montage showing his undeniable skills as a Director and he was also an unbelievable Film 🎥 Editor to boot………thank you for the clips of my favourite director of all time, well so far!?!?! 🤔🙂🙏👏👍

Wow, just came a from a viewing party of Lawrence of Arabia, and now I see this just uploaded!
Probably the greatest British filmmaker of all time (apart from maybe Alfred Hitchcock).
Kubrick🤔
@@Abdoy6710 Kubrick’s great as well, but he was American, though many of his films were produced in Britain
@@samuelbarber6177 all this time I thought he was British
Don't forget Emeric Pressburger and Michael Powell
@@Abdoy6710 Born and raised in New York, he moved to England because he hated working in Hollywood.
