- This video is a rebeat. I originally beat this over a year ago but the recording corrupted. It was kind of surreal for this to happen because one of the only other levels where my recording failed was also a Woogi level. I guess they're just cursed. Anyways, it was such a joy to come back to this! Colorful OverNight always felt a bit to me like sort of a spiritual successor to Windy Landscape. I doubt this was consciously intentional but there are multiple parts in this that are strikingly similar to that level, mainly the blue drop duals and the dark grayscale dual ships. Woogi seemed to like this kind of structure in a level enough show off more creative ideas than before, and include another creator into the fray in the form of Minus.
I think Minus's part in this level (which I think is only the section from 7%-25%) is one of the most timeless and well aging creations from this period of the game, and possibly of all time. The structuring is pure Geometry Dash with simple timings and tight pillars, being accompanied brilliantly by invisible blocks which act as great grounding while also allowing for vision of the mesmerizing background. The assets in this background are largely simple in construction but their diversity and composition creates such a strong feeling of wonder, similar to the feeling you get from looking into a night sky full of bright stars. The solid equalizers on the bottom pulsating with changing yet always beautiful color schemes contrast well with the open circuit-like shapes on the top. There's even another layer of contrast in this unforgettable background with the connected stars themselves being very clear, and the hazy glow beams being the opposite. It's innovation like this that creates a truly iconic visual style, and its cleanliness is a testament to Minus's creative prowess.
Woogi of course also contributes amazing ideas in each part. The zigzag offset blocks in the first cube seem like a recipe for a messy and cluttered visual, but it's pulled off in a way that reminds you quickly of Woogi's great style while also introducing some extra spice (which is what most of this level is known for). The structures here being distinctly sectioned off from each other is what achieves this, and is usually a smart idea when trying something a tiny bit harebrained.
The cube following Minus's part is quite interesting too actually. Woogi commonly has vibrant colors in much of what he creates, so it's a bold move to try to pair this type of dense design with such prominent bases as black and white (which I want to say, I love how Woogi tries to fit as many details in side of specific areas as possible, lots of people don't like spam/jumbles like this but I think it's so satisfying to look at especially when you have married areas of openness in between). Unsurprisingly though, it's perfectly executed, keeping things interesting by snapping/fading between the two on beat.
The buildup section after this is a bit odd looking to me for some reason. It's hard to put my finger on it, but the pastel colored outlines being contrasted by such dark and brooding background details make this look pretty washed out. This isn't a bad thing at all, it's just slightly off putting especially when you have decisions like jamming clouds meant for air decoration inside of otherwise empty structures. Again, none of this is necessarily bad looking, it's just weird which makes it stick in your head easier. It's actually kind of smart to have a section like this right before the drop is about to hit, to alert the player that a change is afoot (in the form of a dual in this instance).
I don't have too much to say about the rest of the level, as a lot of it is just classic stunning Woogi-ness. I do really love how the dual at 78% uses a completely different style than the first one to keep things interesting; its almost psychedelic with how the colors fade into each other and certain block designs shimmer as they do. Seeing Woogi experiment with darker environments rather than being able to see a default GD background constantly is captivating because the detailing really just flows out. Random blocks with no collision connect various platforms with shapes overlapping in the corridors all over the place; it's just a really nice blissful ending.
I want to quickly mention at the end that this song is one of my favorites used in a level, and the amount of objects in this level that shimmer and gleam perfectly match its bright sound. This song sounds so optimistic that I can't help but smile when I hear it, so having a level that has bouncy and engaging gameplay and bursting colors through its many details is a beautiful pairing. Love playing and seeing this level :)

@@yammez1 haha thank you I put a lot of time into it
@TheZinkYT Ok I read the review and I completely agree. Every time I watch this level I'm blown away at how these two perfectly managed to capture being embraced by the night sky using only structures and colour triggers. But I think there's something you missed out on, and why I think this level is genuinely timeless.
I pondered if this level would possibly be even better if it were made in a later update and I think the answer is: no it wouldn't. Even with the ability to make every object move and shuffle, the truly best levels are limited and purposeful with the objects they chose to move, in the case of this level, having everything motionless allows you to really sink your eyes into the messy and bright designs of the structures.
It also allows you to focus on the most important moving object that's in almost every level: The player icon.
In the drop, the way the duals bounce and dance in rhythm with one another through the detailed structuring, the waves crossing over one another, the way they seem to follow each other through a dance in inky blackness as every single object gently pulses around them, it genuinely feels like you're watching them fall in love with each other idk man it's beautiful.
@@yammez1 Really good points here! In the future I should really go more in depth about why it's so important to make the icon work perfectly in tandem with its surroundings. Also great point about the static nature; it's fascinating how a level like this can evoke such profound energy and emotions while really just being still images on a screen. Thanks for engaging in discussion, love to see it
