This is really the best demo of Interstellar Radio. Explains a lot, with goodly examples of how it functions. "float away in the squeals and static" Yes!
While all synths benefit instantly from a good delay & reverb, the Interstellar Radio shines when you put it through the juiciest filter you have. The range of the Radio is so great that you can actually set the filter frequency, pump that resonance and enjoy (sometimes I find modulating the filter superfluous!)
Interesting. It's a surprisingly versatile. Just a few weeks ago Fairfield Circuitry released their "Roger That" pedal which (at first glance) seems to use a similar mod-demod process as the Interstellar radio - it even has CV input! Of course I bought it on impulse. I'm keen to see if there's any crossover or even run the IR through it.
I've bought and sold a lot of modules, but this is one of the first I bought and is still one of the favorites. The only thing that could make it better would be if the tower had a little light behind it :)
Definitely sounds like a delay in there although I can't remember now what it was. Bad me didn't mention that in the description. I know how annoying it is when there's other things going on that's not mentioned. I'm much better at that now! Still, the true flavor of the IR comes through. And even though I love this sort of squealing noise, too much of it entirely raw would be beyond even me. (briefly mentioned at 4:42)
Very interesting comparison. I used to have a Lyra-8 but had to sell it a while back. I think the Interstellar is much wilder and crazier, although if you control it carefully it can also do gentle ambience (with suitable effects). It'd be very interesting to have two Interstellars and simulate a Lyra! That would be an amazing instrument. You could build a whole performance rig around it. OTOH a live show with two Interstellars as the heart would require some bravery since you wouldn't be able to predict what you'd get!
@@RichardDeHove Yes, I also thought of 2xIR. Had to order one for a start yesterday! Looking forward! I love my Lyra. I often plug it without the goal of writing down any music, just riding the waves as a meditative healing experience. :)
@@AntoninComestaz I know what you mean with the Lyra. Sometimes it seemed not so much programming a sound as trying to tune into your own brain state. I do miss mine a lot for that :( It'd be interesting also to get an IR interacting with the Lyra.

7:59 “Ah, we have finally reached the right frequency to hear back at Earth, Chief. Those birds sound quite pleasing.”
The many flavors of audio beauty :D
Just bought one based on this video.

Think I’m going to have to finally buy one. Pretty good price for a bonkers and interesting module 👍

Yes ... ! Perfect for sleep after a weekly festival.
Nice VIDEO !
Thanks. ( I use the long version quite often to sleep - although I've been told it's "too spooky" for that )
Great demo TY
an entire harsh noise wall album in a module.
Are you sending this out to a delay? Around 9-10m is that all from this single module? Cheers! Amazing performance!
