A word of caution on the S hook. Do Not put any valuables in a bag connected to the S hook in the shower. I large albergues, hostels, there are thieves that look for S hook types and the fixed hangers on the shower door. They reach over the door and take whatever is hanging. An S hook is easier than reaching over the door. Use the Ziploc for your valuables and keep closer to you. If all you have in the bag attached to the S hook is hygiene items and the thieve gets "clean" away, no big loss.
That's a great point. I usually try to hang over something that can be reached from outside...the internal walls on those temporary walls. But sometimes the door is the only option. And a thief will know what you are doing...so good caution.
I love how nice you were about the fact that clothes pegs may be in short supply. And not add that on many occasions people will just steal your clothes pegs for their own use. The pins are an idea I used back in 2015. Great tips in this vid
Thanks Craig. I can remember so many times when there were 16 clothes pins for 40 pilgrims! And then you have 4 people trying to tuck their sock under that one clothes pin that is suppose to be holding your underwear out of the dirt! Diaper pins are a must have!
I should add a possible advantage of suction cup. Some have mentioned that thieves know you have valuables in the shower and can see the S hook. They could steal your whole bag and leave while you are naked and not chasing them. I’ve never heard of this happening but not hanging it over where it is seen defeats that possibility
Great to see some other ideas. I found a folding/pouch water bottle really handy. But maybe more than $5. Safetypins we didnt use. They make holes in your clothes which is not much fun. Most Albergues have driers and if not the radistors are good for drying. We carried a twisty washing line, costs about $2 and you can string it up along side your bed for any items which arent dring quickly.
Thanks! This will be helpful for others who watch! I don't enjoy drinking. from the water bags, but they are very light and cheap. I have one as my "dirty water" bag for filtering water on the Appalachian Trail. If you don't mind drinking from the bag then they are worth keeping an extra in your pack for big water days or if you damage your main one.
Hi. Thank you for all your wonderful and informative videos. Could you do a comparison of camel pack style water bladders that are carried within one's back pack and an externally carried bottle. Thank you.
Good question Robert. I have a different one that is similar on the list because I can’t find this exact one anymore. I plan to keep looking cause I really like that specific one.
I added this one to my Amazon packing list. This is better in that it has some USB slots. But it doesn't have the EU plug slots for the EU folks who may want to plug into your outlet. amzn.to/3gJfxmR

Great list! The adapter reminds me of some of the crazy stacks of chargers we had some nights on Camino!
For sure....I'm sure there is no fire hazard in the nest of plugs, chargers, and splitters!
I would add, or substitute for the S hook, a suction cup-mounted hook for hanging bag in shower.
There are so many different kinds of surfaces on the shower walls. But I think a suction cup would work on lots of them. I haven’t tried it.

I love that I found your wonderful page! Thank you for making these videos. I leave for my Camino September 1st. Just one week away.
I'm glad you did as well, Trent! Buen Camino...I hope that your pilgrimage is amazing.

I definitely can do that. There is also a best of both worlds option that I’m considering taking in May:

@@CaminoGuide Thank you. I'll look forward to the video.
I didn't see the multi plug adapter that you had on the video in the Amazon list. Is this style still available somewhere?

Albergue (3:54), pronounced th-cam.com/video/T840K-R9iA8/w-d-xo.html. Buen camino.
Thanks! My pronunciation is pretty terrible!

Agreed!
Diaper pins!
Yes! It’s amazing how many words leave your brain in front of a camera. I should probably reshoot those parts but often…I just don’t!
