Hi Allan a great video as always , I’m currently in the Algarve working my way around the coast to Algeciras then on to Morocco hopefully some time first week of March can you please advise on the best route for a first time traveller to Morocco going to Merzouga I have no problem using the motorway system I’m a bit intimidated by some of the remote roads you have been travelling on also I’m hearing there has been some bad weather high up in the mountains. Take care perhaps might numb into you coming back
Hi Paul, Don't fret you will have a great adventure without going over the roads I have been doing. I've been to Morocco many times so I try new routes to different places. Anyway, as it's your first time I suggest the following. Leaving Tangier Med head across towards Tetouan, you will find campsites on either side of it one in Martil and another in Douar Azia. From there you could travel down to Chefchaouen, which is well worth a visit. Then head down to Meknes via Ouazzane. You can visit the substantial Roman ruins in Vloubilis. From Meknes head out to Marrakesh via Azrou and Kenifra and from Marrakesh head to the coast and Essaouira, which I am sure you will enjoy. From Essaouira head down the coast towards Agadir and from there you can take the N10 road all the way across the country to Ouarzazate. From there you have two choices either continue on the N10 through the Vallee du Dades, Todra Gorge etc. then across to Erfoud and down to Merzouga or alternatively from Ouarzazate take the N9 to Zagora then the N12 to Rissani, just south of Erfoud and then down to Merzouga. There is a great deal to see on these routes and all the roads are good. I will be somewhere around Azrou during the first week of March so it's possible we might meet up but if not have a fantastic trip and let me know how you get on. Best wishes for a great adventure.🙋♂😀😎
@@GlobetrekaTravels I don’t think my reply got to you I think I sent an email and it didn’t send , anyway thanks for your very informative reply we are definitely going to azrou to see the monkeys so our path will hopefully cross . My original route was same as yours to start with but 1 st night at Asilah then Chefchaouen your recommendation seems better ,then my plan was Mielt then At Rachidia then on to Merzouga is this route going to cause problems with snow etc . Your route suggested I will see more is it more suited to a Morocco 1 st timer ? Thanks 😊
@@paulhumphrey3402 Hi Paul, Your idea of going via Midelt and At-Rachidia should be fine. You may see a little snow as in parts it can hang around until April but the N13 road you will be on is generally clear. This route would get you down to Merzouga in less time so a lot depends on how much time you have. Obviously if you take the route you suggest you can still get to see the other places afterwards. To be honest it would be difficult to see everything during one visit as there is so much to see. Hope all goes well.
