In my opinion, this problem comes from family. I saw one documentary - even her younger brothers motivated her for "tearing off competitors to pieces". Such motivation is good for boxers and wrestlers. In figure skating such motivation doesn't work since figure skaters fight with themselves in the first place.

I'm not sure it's all nerves. Some yeah, but she should have zero nerves here in a competition she should have easily dominated. Her quads are just more consistent in practice where she doesn't have to think about anything else. During performances she has to at least act like she's doing more than just jumping. I think the ever changing layouts don't help either. She wasn't doing her last easier layout clean all that much but the solution to that is just adding in more quads apparently.

It is nice to see that the SCOB audience supports her. Obviously not as exciting as last weekend and no applause from Eteri with the mistakes. The first half is mostly a jump drill and the second half has potential to be fun with more choreo. I like hearing the cover of the Stooges' I wanna be your dog 🐶 .

I am sure Sasha and her coaching team were expecting a lot cleaner programs but it's early in the season and this is the time to make any adjustments.

@@climbergreenO The person wasn’t being negative. Sometimes the truth hurts. Sasha struggles to land her planned layout in competition-that’s not being negative, it’s just a fact. She lands them in practice and at the test skate which technically was not a competition so there was less pressure. Hopefully she’ll get past her nerves at the next competition and skate better. That’s all 🙂

    • @ileana823100
      @ileana823100 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

@@climbergreenO for fucks sake, firstly test skates are exactly that, test skates and not a real competition. Secondly I already said that she can jump the quads and 3a in training clean as well as in the test skates (the quads) but in the real competitions that matter like the gp, GPS, nationals, or euros she has not ha done clean 4 let alone 5 quad program in her senior career . That's nothing against her as I do like her fact is it seems to be a mental block that she has had since 2019. That's sadly the truth and not me not liking her. If you are apparently to blinded as her fan to not want to see that. Fact is also that she doesn't have the pcs or choreo in her free program m to fall back on if she falls on the quads. That's how both Anna and aliona were able to place an over her in their first senior season. Because both had programms with choreo, both have more artistic than Sasha(and that's the truth , she tries in the short she certainly got better but she is nowhere on Anna's , aliona o
Level when it comes to artistic) both Anna and aliona have the pcs to fall back on even kamila will probably has them with her spins etc. (Which too are better than Sasha )Sasha doesn't have the pcs to fall back on or at least help her. Sasha is good at jumping quads when she lands them yes,but if she can't land them in competitions ( it's not that she can't jump them we know she can seeing as she lands them and the early in training) than the others can overtake her. And Anna has shown that she doesn't need 5 quads to win over an inconsistent sasha as seen last year. Aliona only needed her 3a and her pcs to beat her in the gpf, the euros in 2019.

After the Test Skates all over Twitter Sasha was glorified as OGM, 5 quads and maybe 3A! she should train 4A(LOL)- but now after a bad skate they're acting like it's the end of the World, Sasha can't perform under the pressure, she won't make it to the Olympics because she is too nervous, she should do less quads etc. Give this girl a break and let her do her thing.

Sasha's fans always says "it's just start of the season, just nerves, jet lag etc!" but the reality is this always happens every year to her. Same old problem. Good at test skates but can't win at year end competitions. This should have been an easy win for her. In fact, the Korean should have won if we are being honest. So if I am betting, Anna will probably be the OGM anyways because she is the most mentally tough among them.
Olympic season is a different beast in terms of pressure, nerves. Even the most talented athletes will fail if you are not mentally tough.

She's vulnerable. In practice, she's invincible. Game day, not so much. The other top girls in Eteri's camp can breathe a sigh of relief.
Trusova's performance here was disappointing on many level. Her strategy is off, big time!
That brings me to my second point ... this choreographic disaster of a program. If there was choreography there, I didn't see it. If I were the coach, the choreographers would be put on notice. Not ONCE did Trusova look into the audience, the spiral was a sloppy mess, there were tons of crossover (which looked sloppy and labored as well), and whatever that music was, she didn't even seem to relate to it or recognize that it was playing in the background. Hey, I'll admit: I was a little star-struck watching her skate around an American rink. But after a while, I was like: wait a minute, we have Junior ladies who are able to captivate an audience better than this. I mean, have they given up totally on making Trusova a complete package? What would it cost her to skate with a bit more conviction? What would it cost her to look into the audience, to show some expression on her face?
If this doesn't change, she will be in for huge surprise come Olympic night.
Have these girls learned NOTHING from Anna Shcherbakova? She has shown them how it's done several times. She's THREE-TIME Russian National Champion, and has obliterated both Trusova and Kosternia when it counted. And guess what, Shcherbokova has ALL of the things I have been harping on about; Shcherbakova LOOKS into the audience, she SHOWS conviction and commitment to the choreography, she gets that EMOTION ties together what she's doing.
I also suspect there's a nuance being overlooked. For so long Trusova has been unfairly pegged as an "athletic" skater, incapable of being artistic because she doesn't look like the "typical" ladies skater. Again, I feel like a broken record! "Pretty skating" went out the window with Michelle Kwan. Bobek was the quintessential skater. Sarah Hughes, Sasha Cohen, Jill Treney, Karyn Kadavy, Kristi Yamaguchi, those were also quintessentially "pretty skaters." But when Kwan came along she blew everything out of the water because she did not have those quintessential lines. In fact, I don't think Kwan is a particularly "pretty skater" at all! But what she did was riveting and original. She was honest with the audience, thoughtful, moody and riveting - she gave all she had! And she did so by being more of herself. So if Trusova can tap into that, that could help. Sure, she may not be able to strike the most beautiful lines on the ice, but she might just touch the audience in a different way if she allows herself to be touched by the music, by the moment, etc. That, along with her explosive jumps, could help. But even then, she's still playing catch up because Shcherbakova not only has all of this, but she has shown countless times that she can lay it down when it matters.

I haven’t studied Eteri’s actions or words, but I’ve watched and attended enough competitions to know that, usually, a skater takes her bows, picks up a few gifts thrown from the stands, and moves to their coach and to the Kiss and Cry. If they are particularly popular, and at a rink that makes tossing gifts to the ice easy, they might take a more circuitous route to their coaches.
To me the conversation seemed to be more serious than about skating back out to gather gifts.Perhaps Trusova was very upset with her skate, and wanted to get away from cameras immediately, but Eteri insisted she straighten up and fly right, and go get those gifts and smile to the audience.

Didn't notice that Russian fans ''are horrible''. As big fans of figure skating ( figure skating is very popular in Russia, it's almost on show business level), Russian fans support all world skaters . U can read a lot of positive comments ( by Russian fans) about Kihira, Sakamoto, Alysa Liu, especially about Yuzuru, ( yes, it's in Russian, and i understand a little- my native language is south Slavic while Russian is east Slavic) ....But, there is no doubt, the Japanese are the best and the most tolerant fans. In fact, i think that real fans of figure skating support all hard working skaters ( the opposite of a haters).

@@Jeremy-wp4yh , Japan is the best- yes. Real fans of figure skating respect and support all the World's skaters, haters don't. U can also find haters all over the World. But, i'm not talking exclusively about ''audience'' ( in ice- arena), i'm talking about fans who follow figure skating youtube channels and other social networks and noticed that Eteri and her team received the most negative comments from ''fans''. Evgenia, also ( '' Koola King'' youtube channel created more than 150 videos against Evgenia and her lutz problem, even using video editing with Wendy Williams. Evgenia was teenager than, and she has ALWAYS OPENLY spoke about her lutz problem, but followers made ugly comments about her skating and even criticized her face and appearance). When Evgenia moved to mr Orser, Russian ''haters'' called her ''a traitor''. Russian audience tends applaud the most or even EXCLUSIVELY to Eteri's students ( they even didn't support Plushenko's students, including Sasha and Alyona, last season). The Russian audiences treat Eteri and Alina as ''a queens''. Russians even call Alina ''The Queen of our hearts''. But, on the other hand, Eteri is not a favorite among ''fans'' who are outside of Russia. Many ''fans'' comment ugly about her presenting her as ''a witch''. Therefore i consider- true fans of figure skating respect all hard working skaters and their coaches, while haters ( ''fans'') don't. U can find real fans everywhere as well as haters (''fans'').

@@nenavujicin7882 but I'm sure you understand the controversy around evgenia's flutz problem. The same thing is happening with Anna scherbakova. She gets a GOE of 4.6 for a flutz. Mikhail kolyada doesn't even get that for his textbook quad lutz. The hate from that group is related to the politics in sport. Skaters with a good healthy technique are ignored while weaker skaters with poor technique are elevated. As for eteri, I'm sure you understand the controversy around her breaking young girls and then replacing them with the next generation of skaters.

@@Jeremy-wp4yh , i understand ''the controversy'' about Evgenia's lutz problem, but she really didn't deserved all that hate and all those insults ( like segments from Wendy Williams show and titles like ''The death of figure skating'', some of ''Koola'' channel's comments also referred to her ''ugly'' appearance and face, that was very rude- She was teenager than, and we know that teenagers are very sensitive persons. From the other hand, Evgenia was golden for two seasons, i think fair golden ( maybe she didn't deserve such high scores, but she deserved gold that time, because of backloading that was following ISU rules), and , for sure , she didn't deserve all that hate. About ''Eteri's controversy'', i don't know, but female figure skating is becoming more and more progressive sport- we will see all the younger skaters ( 15, 16 ys old) on the senior's podiums, not only in Russia.
