@@garra277 I believe you are correct. As soon as he had 5 attackers that could also tap for mana he had infinite combat steps. He just needed to keep activating her ability while they are attacking as they untap themselves each time.

So basically, he can attack with all creatures, tap 5 creatures in response to attacks to activate Najeela's ability, and repeat... till everyone is dead. Yeah, Jon punted big time in this game.
Sincerely, thanks for doing this theme. I have almost no budget to use on cards, and it was great to see something I can point to (for the kiddo) that's proves you don't have to spend a bunch to have a sweet deck.
Same here, I'd never feel restricted by a $50 budget. To me it's a sign of a good player if you build a deck than can win against decks that 5 times what yours cost.
Jon definitely missed a huge opportunity at 33:00, all his warrior tokens gained haste so he could have floated mana from them before damage and gotten an additional combat, which would give him two more combats and a bunch more tokens to continue untapping and killing everyone.
Saw this too, it was painful to watch. If he attacked one person at a time or at least sequenced better he could have gone infinite with tokens & attack steps...
Song of Freyalise only impacts the creatures present at the time of the trigger. He would have had to have Cryptolith Rite for that. Anyone could have stopped it by blocking a couple times.
You are ignoring the part after the activation where Jeremy, Stephen, and Justin get to block and kill the vigilant creatures that tap for mana before the next combat step starts.

@@LaveryJJ Yes, and any effective blocking on the parts of the others would then stop that. Any two of the original 6 creatures dead means the combats are over. And anyone at the table had the option to do that on the second block. Extra combat, yes. Infinite, no.
He could have activated it infinite times after attackers were declared but before blockers were declared, and with 6 mana he would net gain 1 each time so he would have infinite mana during combat.
My LGS has been doing $20 budget commander decks and having a blast with it. Using New/Mint StarCity prices, no sales, basics not included. Using the wishlist function on StarCity's site makes it easy to see if your choices push you over budget.

Cathodion + Myr Retriever + Spawning Pit + Teshar is infinite charge counters though not infinite mana and 2/2's until he got the Jhoira's Familiar on the board. Also if he had gotten back Impassioned Orator he had infinite life as well. Would have been nice to see, Teshar is a really cool commander.
So, our LGS has been doing this for the first time yesterday, giving out random commanders to people. Not as fun as you think, sadly, but a great way to challenge your deckbuilding skills and good for your wallet!

Old-timer (began around '95) here. One thing that still ticks me off to this day is I completely missed the Slivers era. I was a kid, making crap for pay at McD's, and all I could really afford to buy were common/uncommon singles from Revised, Dark, Ice Age and stuff. Slivers were not really a thing in my play group, so the now well known synergies and ways to build decks was not widely known at the time. They were simply "another creature to use." I preferred Dragons and Goblins, and quick cheap guys like Zombies and Skeletons. We also didn't have the benefit of internet, or sites like EDHREC, MTGGoldfish, CardKingdom, etc. Now I actually want to build a Slivers Commander deck, understanding what I need to do so, and can't because the individual cards are soooo damn expensive.
Quick question with the commander tuck rule. If you don't alter the state of the deck you don't have to shuffle. I had someone tell me it's how chaos warp works when it targets a commander.
Also Jeremy could have gone infinite by drawing the whole deck and having almost infinite colorless with the familiar and the guys that when dies give you three colorless right?
For everyone saying "Jon had infinite and didn't even realize", I think sometimes they do realize infinite combos are on board and they choose not to do it for the sake of the entertainment value. If you pay close attention, some of the older TH-cam-only videos (before they went live on Twitch) had moments where the camera has a blur transition, I bet someone identifies a combo, states it and they work out how not to let it happen for the sake of the game quality. (Or misplays, who knows?)
I had a Teshar deck for a while. Then I put Krark-Clan Ironworks in it and it just become Modern KCI in commander and I had to take it apart before I was fully corrupted by it.
I'd like to see a game where everyone is allowed to play 10 cards from an Un-set. Rest of the deck is up to them. Your commander could be one of the 10 I guess. That seems fun. Not as crazy as the Johnny Appleseed videos, but also not as ridiculous and unbalanced. Also Justin isn't allowed to play Jumbo Imp.

Don't hate on building around a budget. Any idiot with their parents credit card can look up a deck list and buy a great EDH deck. It takes a skilled player/brewer to build something that can win on a budget, and it forces you to use cards your opponents haven't seen and might not be prepared for.
Isn’t Najeela plus that saga just infinite combat? Just attack with 5 creatures (who have vigilance) then after attacks you can activate Najleela which will untap the creatures you attacked with and the ones najeela generated and you just do that over and over generating +5 creatures every time?
At 1:13:32 jeremy had a loop.sac cathodion to the spawning pit get 3 mana cast myr retriever return cathodion sac it sac my retriever return cathodion -repeat.infinite mana.then do the same with myr retriever and the familiar draw your deck and win
My issue with Jon is that he takes it way to serious at times. This was suppose to be a game where you had to put some thought into your deck because of the budge constraints, but nope Jon just finds a broken commander and goes from there. And oh boy don't ever do anything to him or his salt level will devour the table.

@@MunchKING hmm, I've never heard of that before. Putting Najeela in the command zone is a replacement effect, so I'm pretty sure it is never under the Fiend Hunter. Therefore, you can't put it back when the Hunter leaves play.

Yes technically it was likely much safer to sequence it that way but i mean he was dead if something went wrong anyways or if Jon had hard removal instead of the conditional charm so i dont blame him for just getting the double kill first. Bloodlust/point lust is a hell of a drug

Reki, the History of Kamigawa is mono-green storm. You're gonna cast many spells each turn and keep drawing cards so you can keep casting legends. Y'all should do an Oathbreaker episode!!! In case you don't know- Planeswalker as the commander, you get an instant or sorcery as your Signature Spell in your command zone that you can only cast when your commander is in play (recasting this spell applies the same tax as recasting commanders), everyone's starting life is 20, no commander damage deck size is 60 cards. Other than that, it follows the same EDH rules :)
why does justin put himself nearly DOB to jon just to take away less than half of Jon's life? He's also uncasted commander too, so that is risking a 0 point game? Like I get there decks are simple and bargain, but why not play a bit more political and chop down one of his opponents and show a assist, maybe then he can buy a turn to cast commander?
Yup Jon could win the game in 30+- minute if he just attack all on Justin and make infinite combats with it. First attack Justin can block, others he cannot. So tokens would be made, and he would have enought untapped warriors to make another untap as well. Use all that to create more tokens and kill Justin in process then with that huge army kill all others. I know Najeela too well to know she is just too OP since you play bunch of ramp and killing her wont even slow her down cause her ability works even on the turn she is casted. Also she makes games so fast even in commander that it is not really fun. And who want to make deck just to survive stupidly easy infinite combo early? Games get really boring when one guy constantly plays Najeela. I think she needs to get banned.
Ok seen to the end ... jon huge misplay and still win ... thats najeela. He also could cast her literraly every turn to make that play, but was afraid of imaginary counterspell. Funny. Was his agenda to show that najeela is not that strong ? well you failed sir. I think najeela should be banned. Commander who can make infinite combo turn 4 and kill everyone is just stupidly OP. Even on a budget, Najeela goes infinite within the first four-five turns of the game. One of the most broken commanders.

Yeah. If he went all in on justin with the first attack and then the second, he would have had enough white warriors to mop the other two up

No. Song only affects the creatures that were there when the trigger resolves. The new creatures wouldn't be able to tap for mana.

Realy hard not to go infinite with teshar. There are like 10 easy to go combo's. I build a voltron build of teshar that uses none of said combo's

Wow! A 50$ budget is pretty restrictive, but the Commanders Quarters only does 25$. But no hate because budget building is hard.

Y'all should do an Oathbreaker episode!!! In case you don't know- Planeswalker as the commander, you get an instant or sorcery as your Signature Spell in your command zone that you can only cast when your commander is in play (recasting this spell applies the same tax as recasting commanders), everyone's starting life is 20, no commander damage deck size is 60 cards. Other than that, it follows the same EDH rules :)
There's also a different ban list. Like Expropriate and Doomsday are banned but Karakas is legal.

why does justin put himself nearly DOB to jon just to take away less than half of Jon's life? He's also uncasted commander too, so that is risking a 0 point game? Like I get there decks are simple and bargain, but why not play a bit more political and chop down one of his opponents and show a assist, maybe then he can buy a turn to cast commander?
Yup Jon could win the game in 30+- minute if he just attack all on Justin and make infinite combats with it. First attack Justin can block, others he cannot. So tokens would be made, and he would have enought untapped warriors to make another untap as well. Use all that to create more tokens and kill Justin in process then with that huge army kill all others.
I know Najeela too well to know she is just too OP since you play bunch of ramp and killing her wont even slow her down cause her ability works even on the turn she is casted. Also she makes games so fast even in commander that it is not really fun. And who want to make deck just to survive stupidly easy infinite combo early? Games get really boring when one guy constantly plays Najeela. I think she needs to get banned.
Ok seen to the end ... jon huge misplay and still win ... thats najeela. He also could cast her literraly every turn to make that play, but was afraid of imaginary counterspell. Funny. Was his agenda to show that najeela is not that strong ? well you failed sir. I think najeela should be banned. Commander who can make infinite combo turn 4 and kill everyone is just stupidly OP. Dont know why nobody see it.
