I've noticed that...I stopped drinking 4 months ago, and that's the first thing that comes out of people's mouth. In my case, I discovered I have fatty liver. I've never been a heavy drinker. I do have a problem with food. After a ton of research, and talking with my doctor, I decided to try a clean style of keto eating. I dropped the alcohol because of nutrition concerns. 4 months later, I have lost 65 pounds and feel amazing !! BTW, fatty liver is reversing ❤❤❤

I started drinking alcohol years ago as a teenage, spent my whole life fighting alcohol addiction. I suffered severe depression and mental disorder. Got diagnosed with cptsd. Not until my wife recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 8 years totally clean. Much respect to mother nature the great magic shrooms.

And you have more money in your pocket. God bless everyone who has rejected the devils intentions to be addicted to alcohol and cigarettes etc which can cause so much damage to health. I will pray for you all.

Where can I find those psilocybin mushrooms? I'm really interested in treating my mental health without Rxs. I live in Australia don't know much about these. I'm so glad they helped

Mushrooms are very medicinal. This is why anybody familiar with psilocybin and any other kind of fungi will tell you, "They are alive." They have a very ancient wisdom. To my experience, all mushrooms have always said, "Pay attention to your life. How you think, how you feel, and what will you do with the information that you always knew, but now are seeing in this point of view." This is why mushrooms are so respected in tribal cultures. This mental health treatment works for me too. Half micro doses do the trick for me. At least a few days at a time with lengthy time in between. Never addictive. Thank you for sharing this point!

They're here not only for the alcohol but maybe for something else.. like connection. I do find a part of my career still gratifying because I try to connect with everyone that walks in the door. Same. I used to be the typical social drinker. More than 10 years ago my body started rejecting it. I would have even one drink and be sick for two days. I felt like I has been poisoned and technically I was.
I stopped drinking and have not missed it. I just do not tell most people. I get a water with a lemon wedge and most people assume it is a drink.
But I agree, watching people degrade as they become intoxicated is both humorous and sad at the same time.

Moderation is the key if you want to drink without damage. Enjoying alcohol takes discipline and setting limits for yourself. If you cannot do that, then don't drink. Most people who drink do not become alcoholics because they control the amount they drink. If a parent was an alcoholic, it is even more important to limit and moderate your drinking. Many people need alcohol to relax and become comfortable at social events. Best to limit to 1 drink at social events and drink slowly; and have water for the 2nd and following drinks. However, if you cannot control the amount of your drinking, then do not drink. Alcohol is part of social and business culture throughout the world so it is virtually everywhere. However, moderate drinking is possible. There is lots of social pressure to drink. However, if you don't like alcohol, just say it makes you sick or you are allergic to it. You never have to apologize for not drinking.

It’s also clear to me that many, if not most people aren’t capable of being occasional drinkers; they get all too familiar with it and it’s certain points in life are drinking way way too much. Why flirt with disaster?

I grew up in the 70's, started smoking weed at 15, as it was always around and everyone did it, all ages, at that time. I enjoyed it, it helped me to relax and laugh a bit, but I knew it wasn't good for my body and lungs, of course. I eased up by mid 20's but didn't really quit til around late 20's. Around 30 or so, I began drinking at the clubs, to mingle and meet people. At the time, you think it makes you better socially, and that might have been the case in the beginning, but I pretty much used it to deal with the single scene, which sucked the majority of the time. Alcohol is not only expensive and not healthy, it causes you to make really bad decisions, about everything from what you buy to what you eat. After a few drinks it's very easy to say 'What the f*ck' and eat or do something that you normally would NOT do. I didn't do it all the time, stopped for long periods, but went back to it when I felt I 'needed' it. Like after work on a rough day etc... I stopped 10 years ago, at 50, never looked back, and certainly don't miss it. Wish I quit sooner, both with weed and alcohol, but we live and learn as we go in life and it is never too late to change and move forward. Speaking sincerely, quit drinking NOW if you are on the fence about it, your life will definitely immediately improve. Wishing anyone who reads this all the best.

Getting your cycles and hormones and dopamine/serotonin levels back to normal takes time. In the meantime, try to eat healthier and get a bit more exercise in to help boost those productions in your body. Maybe even get your bloodwork done and talk to a nutritionist if your insurance pays for it to see where you’re deficient and where you should cut. First thing you should do when you wake up is get sunlight exposure, even if it’s sitting on a chair by the window for 5 minutes, it will regulate your melatonin cycle. A lot of people are also chronically deficient in zinc and magnesium so talk to your healthcare provider about maybe taking a ZMA supplement before bed to help you sleep. There’s days I still feel off and want to run back to alcohol, that will happen but don’t beat yourself up over it, tomorrow is a better day. Completely agree with your comment @E_don. Videos like this try to demonize alcohol and it's completely ridiculous. Alcohol, like ANY other junk/unhealthy food or drink, isn't hard to moderate and limit. I'm 40 and have alcohol twice a week as well as at special occasions/events. I've been off of it before and the body composition effects were negligible at best. It just wasn't worth giving up entirely. Like you, I enjoy the social aspect, the taste, and the feeling. Reading the comments, it's great that videos like this are a posterboard for folks to come out and brag how they've been sober for ___ years, but then other comments would be from people saying they quit because of too many hangovers. It's one extreme or the other. Like how many drinks are these people having?! If you have any kind of hangover, you drank too much. That's not moderation at all. Just like if you have a candy bar once a week, you're not going to gain a pound of fat. You don't need a 20 minute PSA video telling us that alcohol isn't healthy. We KNOW that. It's common knowledge. He may as well do a video on 5 reasons to quit smoking.

For anyone trying to quit try switching to n/a beers. I drank everyday for 20 years and when I decided to quit it wasn't missing the alcohol that was hard it was not being able to have a beer after work so I started drinking n/a beers and problem solved I don't even miss the alcohol plus can drink on the road without worrying about a DUI. There's lots of options these days my favorite is Guinness n/a plus there's a really good IPA but can't remember the brand rn

I drank recklessly for 3 years and even after getting my first DUI and after getting through that you’d think that would wake me up but I still had trouble stopping. At the beginning of this year I decided to just stop, almost 5 months sober committed to a body recomp regime I made for myself and now cutting (from 225 to 189 currently) and feels like I’m in my mid 20s again, I’m 34 now. Could I have a drink now and not get myself into trouble? Sure, but I know all it’s going to do is mentally slow me and my training down. The thousands I spent on booze and the time it costs you. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Alcohol wastes our time. Its why its called "getting wasted". I notice a huge increase in cardio performance when I havent drunken the night before. Best example of this is hitting the heavy bag. Im usually doing Muay Thai so im using knee and elbow strikes along with boxing and kickboxing techniques. So its really easy to tell if my cardio levels are high enough to do five rounds on the bag. Its such a fun workout, it gets your body in amazing shape, and its a great excuse to not make a drink the night before. Sometimes when Im drinking too consistently, I need to remind myself that creating goals and accomplishing those goals feels way better than a handful of blanco tequila drinks and a headache.

Thank you Thomas for another video about alcohol! Your comment stood out to me about not wanting to waste time with those people who arent deep and meaningful. I've always been a deep thinker and conversationalist with inherent strong values.
I realize without alcohol (been sober most of this year), most of the people my husband and I surround ourselves with arent actually what we are looking for in friendships. We arent superficial and tend to be big thinkers.
So we are taking a step back and spending time working on ourselves. Its a bit lonely sometimes but rather be alone than with the wrong people. One day I am sure we will find the right company.

Great video, Thomas! I quit drinking six months ago, it has always ruled every aspect of my social life. This video sums up exactly how I feel. Ironically, I just quit because I was always tired of feeling like crap and thought it would be very difficult. Surprisingly with how good I feel physically emotionally mentally and with my relationships, I have absolutely zero desire to go back. I wish everybody could feel like this. It would make quitting for a lot of people much easier.

Man I can relate to this so much. Quit alcohol at the end of last summer before starting Masters Degree this year. Best decision I could've made. Better sleep, less anxiety, consistant cognitive performance, better recovery from exercise. Unfortunatly I barely meet friends any more, but I realised most of our conversations were just repetetive drink rambelings and with no real positive outcome. Also, diet has been pretty bad recently due to near constant work from my course. However, without alcohol, I've been able to stay sharp even with unholy amounts of chocolate intake.

I drank quite a lot when younger, (I’m 53 now and pretty fit) but now it’s only occasionally, and only bourbon. That said, I can definitely tell a difference in how I feel the next few days. I’m seriously considering cutting it out of my life along with nicotine (I’m in the tobacco business and use nicotine pouches because I own one of the brands), to reduce my slightly elevated blood pressure. I attribute the higher blood pressure to the nicotine, but I’m sure if I got better sleep, which has always been an issue, this would be helpful. Great interview and love the channel Thomas!!

Even though I wasn't a massive drinker alchol still had a control like on days off work/social events etc and I was totally sick of a substance having control over my life with many more cons than pros. Also saves you money and wakes you up to unhealthy, unfulfilling friendships. If friendships or relationships don't enhance your life drop them immediately because life is far to short.
