I never grow tired of this song or the great music that Alias blessed us with in the 80's and to this day is still one of my favourites of all time. I play this song every morning for my angel Joey before I leave for the day. She has brought love back into my life and my heart.
Man, it took me more than 20 years to realize that two of my all time favorite songs (This one and "When i´m with you") were performed by the same singer... Thanks
One of my all-time favourite songs, along with Perfect World. They're both so moving and the singer has an amazing voice. Perfect World is on the Son-in-Law soundtrack.
In 1984 I was playing with a band called "Roller" at the MingTree in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, during one of our breaks we crossed the street to catch "Sheriff" playing at the "Town Pump". It was the most amazing vocal performances I have ever heard. Freddy Curci was right on. Sheriffs "When I'm with you" hit Number one in 1988 in the USA ~ Freddy by then was working as a Bike Currier in Toronto. He got together with sheriff gutair player & formed Alias, this song is the result! Awesome!
for all of us that lived those days of "more than words can say" by alias, "I'll be there for you" by Bon Jovi, "Where you goin now" by Damn yankees or "Close my eyes forever" by lita... I Salute you guys! cause we lived the best music era ever!! unfurtunatelly it will never come back music like this...
With this song I told to the love of my life that I love her, almost 10 years ago. And with this song I tell her that I still love her. "That I need her Now".
Buddy. I fell in love with Sheriff in the summer of 83. It took me a month to track down there album in a used record store in 84. Sad for a guy that has a worlds record. I pumped that album to all my friends until....amazingly they were re-discovered by a vegas dj 6 years after the album debuted. Isure wish those guys would have gotten the break they so deserved.
Bit of trivia for you. Before some members were in Alias, they were in Sheriff, "When I'm With You", written in the '80's by a husband/wife duo. When the orig. 45 was released their names were on the label. After it didn't chart and she died in a car accident, it was sold. When it hit the charts, Sheriff had already split. Alias contacted the writer of "WIWY" and asked for a follow up. Since the first song was about the wife, so was this song. It puts a whole new spin on it.
Marjorie, This song says it! I need you, I need you now. You are the love I've waited my whole life for. You are my soul mate. You are Gods way of showing me how blessed I am. I love you more than words can say.
Yes, Freddy Curci was the lead singer from Sheriff. He now has a new band called Zion. Their CD is available on Amazon and will soon be available on his website.
There was a teacher from my old elementary school that said she was related to the band leader. I think he is her nephew. Too bad I didn't get a chance to meet them at the time, around the same time this song was somewhat popular.
Picked up the new ALIAS album called NEVER SAY NEVER. It was recorded 18 years ago. AWESOME PURCHASE. Also enjoyed reading the inner cd case liner notes. Interesting. I bought it online at shopEMI
@sahajad The singer is Freddy Curci. He was in rock band Sheriff (1982) with Steve DeMarchi (guitar) and then they formed Alias in 1987/1988 with the half of former rock band Heart members : Roger Fisher (guitar), Steve Fossen (bass), and Mike Derosier (drums). They're from Canada. If you think he's handsome, just watch Freddy on Alias - More Than Words Can Say live on Rick Dees here on TH-cam. Take a closer look, cause he's very handsome indeed.
I do agree with you that you don't hear songs like this anymore, I thought that this was one of the last great songs to come out of the music industry before the crappy grunge invasion that came soon after, I like the pre-grunge rock music the best.
Beefman, Freddy Curci was the lead vocalist of the Canadian band "Sheriff" in the 80's. They had a bit hit in the States after their hit "When I'm With" was re-released in the late 1980's. Check it out right here on TH-cam. Alias's time at the top was short-lived, however, due in part to the changing music climate and the advent of the grunge era.
Wherever you may be this song goes to you Jessica, I think about you night and day, just to even hear your voice would make me happy this song is dedicated to you I love you with all my heart and soul.
actually-when im with you by sherrif was recorded in 1982 and shelved by capitol records-untill a dj.got ahold of a copy and began playing it in 1988then it became a hit-the group/regrouped to cash in on the success without much success-then alias formed.
Why would anybody say this is crap? It's exactly what most people need to reduce crime in the streets. This stuff is much better than 50 cent or other rappers. These songs melt your heart or put a tear to your eyes. You can't get girls with pants below your waist. It's unattractive. America is falling apart because of urban influence/affulence. People buy a sticker that says: "Urban is Gay". That's why I won't stay in Yonkers for life.
Love the use of the bass pedal @ 1:33 Great song, freddy (the lead singer) should have been a household name like steve perry after his vocal work in this song and in the sherriff song. oh well life goes on.
freddie crucci is an incredible singer, matched by no one, accept maybe steve perry. could you imagine these two together on stage together, it would be magic. new singers good luck!
The 23-year-old floozie (then) Deborah Driggs was also in the music video "Post-Modern Man" by DEVO. You can actually see these two videos like sequels!
I never grow tired of this song or the great music that Alias blessed us with in the 80's and to this day is still one of my favourites of all time.

80´s is the greatest period of the rock balads, And Alias are among them, great song!
Man, it took me more than 20 years to realize that two of my all time favorite songs (This one and "When i´m with you") were performed by the same singer... Thanks

He deserves to be in a successful band. Amazing voice.
One of my all-time favourite songs, along with Perfect World. They're both so moving and the singer has an amazing voice. Perfect World is on the Son-in-Law soundtrack.
Freddy has an incredible voice. This is a very touching song.
Agreed! The lead singer (Freddy Curci) also sang "When I'm With You" when with the band Sheriff. Gotta love that 80's rock!
