This is glorious. 5 years later, this podcast has continued. "See you forever"
Grey: "No"
"You do not need to be ordained by the keeper of creativity." -Myke. Thank you very much boys, that one goes on the wall.

This podcast series came out forever ago! I'm glad I started to follow this.
Here goes eternity!
I know this sounds ridiculous, and I know this video is old, so there is not much of a point commenting no one will probably even see it, but around an hour in, Grey is talking about how he would tell some students to just start trying to do whatever now, (ex: writing a book, making a video games, etc.) and I literally realized something. And now, I think I will spend a lot of time this summer researching computer programming. I want to make video games, but I have had this thing stuck in my head that I need to go to high school and college, and then I can do this stuff, but Grey said that, and I literally thought, "wait, why did I decide I can't learn to make video games at 14?" and I have been looking for something to do over summer, there is only a 3 days of school left, and my only plans are trying to find the Algebra 2 textbook the high schools use so I can get a copy and work through that and maybe take the Algebra 2 test, so I only have to take one more year of math once I get to high school. But assuming Algebra 2 is as easy, or even if it's slightly less easy than Algebra 1, that probably won't take too long. I mean it's not like I really have friends to spend time with, I think I am going to try to learn to program over the summer :) I already know a little about it, I have done a few online things that teach the very basics of it, but not much else. Thanks Grey, you actually made me change my mind on something!
That doesn't sound ridiculous, and somebody did see it. I'm 13 and am ahead in math aswell. I started coding about two years ago, and if your still going to go ahead with learning to code then I recommend going to scratch.mit.edu, It's a great website to start coding, although it is a relatively slow language, so once you start coding more complex stuff I'd use something more solid. By the way here is one of my games if you want to play it. scratch.mit.edu/projects/163992186/ I didn't realize someone had such a similar situation as me!
Thanks, I'll definitely look into that, and I'll also try out your game! :)
I started coding 2 years ago also, and I'm also ahead in math. However, i DO NOT recommend scratch, it is a crap programming thing. It is NOT considered "coding." It CAN be considered "programming" but not "coding" because of the fact that you click and drag instead of actually using commands in an actual language. I recommend getting Python for starting out. Before you tell me that I don't know as well as Adventurer32, I know better, and I know because I know him in school.
3 years later, can we have a steam link/update? Genuinely curious to see if it all panned out
Hey man I hope things have been going well for you! I learned that graduating early was a possibility from a TH-cam video like 4 years ago, and I did end up graduating early because of it. Sometimes you learn about things in funky places!
4:20. After years of watching my favorite TH-camr's multiple videos and listening to his podcasts, I never thought I'd see the day where I hear my most played game be recommended. Myke, CGP Grey, you've made my day.
"You don't need to go to college to do this stuff." I agree, as long as you're self-employed. In practice, I find that college/university has two main functions: it helps you be more self-sufficient and critical of information, and it gives you a thing that employers expect you to have. A lot of the time employers just want "a graduate", sometimes even if it's not in the particular field of the vacancy, because it proves to them that you /have/ been ordained, it's just evidence that you're officially qualified, so that they don't have to make a judgement call based on your unofficial work (blogs, vlogs, amateur film, personal artwork, etc), even though in many cases it's entirely possible to learn how to do a good job by reading around and practicing.
Self learner programmers are going to totally understand your point :)
I would marry grey just to get his videos a few minutes earlier
Cortex FOREVER!
53:19 That was so cute and symapthetic
IIRC, the first time I saw stick figure Grey would be one of the Thank You video. Since there is no picture to show there and Grey refused to show his real face so came stick figure Grey to thank us.
"The Hand of Evil strikes again!"-EA
Loved Dungeon Keeper, will definitely be giving War for the Overworld a chance.
Wacom tablets are really nice, but one comment (and I don't really wanna be that guy to point out issues but I feel like it might help you in the future) if you have a programmable mouse you can take cut off acceleration and change the dpi which is essentially raw sensitivity. For example my dpi is 750 with no acceleration where most normal mice are roughly 1600-3000 with acceleration on.
6 years later and we've continued forever
Levels, levels? LOL
oh, so you were talking about mind maps this early on?... or I may have come across that app myself I don't remember.
Around 1:22:30... Mouse acceleration can be disabled and is the first thing that I do once installing an operating system.
At 29:11 I think after that Myke edits in breaths starting at 29:33
I listened to last episode and was so happy that my homescreen was nice and organized. Between me starting listening to this and the last episode the google play icon has changed to a triangle... Why do you do this to me google? My homescreen was perfect! Why?😭
2:28 rofl diablo 3 feelings
Grey you ever voice act?
remember when this was supposed to be the last episode?
Turn around time vs more complex animations
Right, 2 minutes into the show and I'm mad. A little young for dungeon keeper?! I'm 17 and I played the shit out of that game, didn't play the second too much but still...
Grey should really really play Majesty :P
I mean EA didn’t really mess up plants vs zombies.
After 10 episodes, I must say, Grey sounds like someone who just likes to complain about everything. this icon is too orange, and the only other option opens it two times, so I need totally new thing. like wtf?
People are amazing aren't they?
