He had stopped acting with Rekha after Silsila. Parveen had left the country. Zeenat was getting married. Manmohan Desai approached Reena Roy but she was getting married to Mohsin and announced her retirement. At that point Desai scrapped the role and increased the other role for which Rati, Dimple, Salma were considered. Amrita finally signed the film.
