Storyville was a blues-rock band formed in 1993 in Austin, Texas, USA. Drummer Chris Layton and bassist Tommy Shannon, former members of Arc Angels and the rhythm section for Stevie Ray Vaughan's band Double Trouble, formed the band with Malford Milligan, David Lee Holt and David Grissom after a jam session at Antone's. After releasing an album on November Records in 1993, the band won a total of nine Austin Music awards; they became stalwarts on the local music scene and toured nationally. They subsequently signed to major label Atlantic Records, for whom they recorded two albums before breaking up. The single "Born Without You", from their 1998 release Dog Years, reached #28 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart.
I know what you mean. I lived in Austin from 95-01. Seen Storyville many times, I even asked them for a ride home 1 night after their show at Antone's. I was a little tipsy, wasn't successful, bc we got interrupted. They were always good. Ian Moore, Vallejo and other's played around Austin. I live in OkC now, they have opened a bunch of venues to make it more music friendly. I have seen Ian Moore here twice downtown, James McMurtry twice, Will Sexton&Amy LaVere. All shows $25 bucks. We have the Blue Door, The Blue Note, The Criterion, Beer City Music Hall, the Zoo Amphitheatre, another one I don't remember the name of. PayCom Center, other venues. I love seeing the one's downtown. They are affordable, have great artist, some come up from Austin. So, it's working, I miss Austin too, but love my home OKC too. Malford Milligan from Storyville has a show booked at the Blue Door Sept. 01, I already have tix for.
Storyville and songwriter/ guitarist extraordinaire David Grissom had a true MASTERPIECE in this song! It will never get old. I put Mallford Milligan is the short list of greatest rock singers of all time!

Me too. Seen them many times in Austin. I lived in Austin for 6 yrs, went with KLBJ's Millinium Mission to Maui for a week to Celebrate the coming of the 21st Century. The ARC Angels reunited for this. So, Doyle Bramhall, Charlie Sexton, Tommy Shannon, Chris Layton were along, other Austin favorites. They had concerts for everyone that went. Bob Fonseca from KLBJ got married there. It was what really was a once in a lifetime kinda deal. It was so so Awesome 🎸🎸🎸🎸
I just found this band on Pandora . I've been into the blues since I was 15 years old and I'm 66 now. I can't believe I have never heard of these guys before. Waaaaay underrated. They are finominal ,Vocals ,guitars, everyone. Would have loved to see them live.

I had this cd in late 90s and played it every single day - but someone stole it from my cd holder and I for the life of me for several hats couldn't remember name of this cd /group even tho I had listened to Good Day for Blues daily over n over!! I just saw this pop up on something!! OMG TWENTY YEARS LATER!! NOW I HAVE TO FIND A PLACE TO BUY ANOTHER JUST THIS ONE RIGHT HERE!❤️
Just put 2&2 together but Malford the lead singer auditioned for "The Voice" .... WOW !!! This was a great band and he ... well his voice speaks for itself .
I saw these guys I think it was 95' at Memphis in May. Never heard of them, I was on my way to see another band, they just came on as I was walking by to another stage and they started with this song, I stopped dead in my tracks, they only played for about 45 minutes but damn I'm glad I stopped. They are still one of favorites.
New Year's eve 12/31/98 at Antone's in Austin. The highlight of my TX trip.... Met Malford Milligan a couple of years later in Long Beach, CA after a club show when he was fronting The Boneshakers. What a voice!
@@DonnOLucianDios They released 3 albums between 1993 and 1998, then broke up. I guess they had some reunion shows and released an album of recordings from one of those shows in 2006, but that's it. So, they were together for 5-6 years and broke up. I'd say that means they didn't last.
