Located in the Lakhimpur-Kheri district near the Nepal border in Uttar Pradesh, Dudhwa National Park is one of the promising places to visit for wildlife and nature-lovers.
Encompassing an area of around 800 sq kms, the park was established in 1958 as a wildlife sanctuary for swamp deer aka barasingha. Then in 1977, after the continuous efforts made by the famous hunter turned conservationist Billy Arjan Singh, Dudhwa got the status of a national park. And a decade later, it became a part of ‘Project Tiger’, and was officially declared as Dudhwa Tiger Reserve.
Dudhwa Tiger reserve, boasts of a unique terai jungle ecosystem. Terai jungle regions are found in the foothills of Himalayas in India, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal. A terai region is a marshy grassland, which is a perfect habitat for mammals like Rhinos, Elepahants, Bears and Swamp deers

Basically I'm from U.P. Mainpuri, but we have settled in Gujarat 5 decades back. Still we have our Land and Family members in U.P.
Seriously I was unaware of this National Park. Such a beautiful place with tribal people.
Now about the Guide Sonu bhai. He is a truly a gem for this national park. What a knowledge and passion he holds about this place and his work.
Now this place is in my bucket list. Will surely visit this place in my next visit of U.P.

A fantastic guide, he shares and educates you with information, and then he goes out of his way to make it engaging. that would be a fun safari. Think of how much a child would be interested in this, or how a child would sit and listen to this guide intently. quite commendable

For anyone reading this comment, I would request him/her to kindly pay a visit at this national park once. Don't target tiger spotting while panning your visit there as it's one hell of chance (the same goes for the famous Jim Corbett), what one can say is you'll find a deep connect with the nature there.

It was our trip to Dudhwa and Sonu was our guide, so this video brought back memories of 2019! Dudhwa is beautiful & as Sonu says..do not concentrate only on wanting to see Tigers, you will miss out on other things the jungle has to offer!

I had been fortunate to live in Palia and visit Dudhwa, almost every week. I stayed for almost 25 years near Dudhwa (just 8km).
Now a days, Dudhwa Safari is restricted only to 15%- 20% of the forest area.
Dudhwa has many ranges (ex: sathiyana range which come under CORE area, where Tiger is said to stay compared to other areas of the forest).
Important Note For Tourists:-
1) Do not make noise
2) Do not carry any eatables, let wild life stay in their natural habitat
3) Focus & learn about trees, birds, wild fruits and keep your sixth sense awake.
4) Most prominent sighting:- Swamp Deer, Wild Boar, do visit Rhinoceros habitat. If your are destined, you will get to see tiger.
5) Do plan to visit Kishanpur Wild Life Century (near Mailani). Tiger count is more in Kishanpur Century.
6) Buy books for your self and your kids from Dudhwa.
7) Most importantly, help in preserving the nature in its natural form.

Wonderful video...Dudhuva National Tiger Reserve located in Lakhimpur Kheri is an amalgamation of grass land, wet land and wood land.The dense forest interspersed with saal trees seems to be worth visiting by jungle safari, ofcourse, with all safety precautions. The forest is so dense with a cover of thick vegetation and grassland that some guide definitely required... The reserve has been nicely and explicitly captured.....Worth visiting...
