This is what happened with The King of Fighters gotcha game a few years back. I had some maxed out units and then they added a system like this so I had to quit cause it was way too hard to max them out again
I'm glad you put the AFK Arena image side by side. I always wondered about the way that game looked, since I've never played it. It is pretty much how I imagined it would look in terms of SF Duel copying the game.
They are selling div tickets as summer offer for cheap now: basically its 1 ticket per dollar so that whales will get FOMOed and scooping these up to make their future units to 5 stars because dps units like akuma needs to be 5 starred for that 18% crit dmg boost from engraving to keep up. Its a genius move from their end. Devs are only giving whales 2 options now: keep paying up every month or get powercreeped out of the leaderboards

totally agree with you! As a guy that spent some money per month, i can say that is impossible to keep climbing and enjoy the game at this point! They need to change this, starting with no more limited characters or at least make them cheaper. No way 50$ for a character and still need to spend more to upgrade to be playable
Forget the special summon tickets 1 a day is max because we will need tier 2 gear on our characters once tier 3 is released be prepared the boost from gear will be insane.
There has been some talk about how can sf duel make money and stay alive. And it reminded me of this video because you mention that SF Duel is a copy and paste of AFK arena, except the greedy version of AFK Arena. This means that AFK arena must have at some point changed. I would love to hear more details about what those changes were and how AFK Arena changed for the better. Maybe something like this is also possible for sf duel?
Yes sure, the only difference that AFK arena had is that it was having less competition and it did listen to customers very quickly and the devs were connected to the audience no middle man needed ... meaning sfd community needs to talk to community manager so he talks to CR and Aplus so they talk to devs and vice versa if devs wanna talk to community ... and this will make it harder ... and afk arena worked on a fast pace to fix problems and had always dev notes for changes even for the smallest things ... even AFK when they were going greedy the prices was not as much predatory as what we have in SfD sadly
Thanks for keeping us updated, but i feel ya man. im pretty much in the same setuation. i enjoy the game alot even if its repititve. now im not spending anymore due to bad monitzation.
Yeah I never even thought about Gore Megala Ken because it was not something I whaled on but damn, these developers are really bad at making their game feel rewarding and fair. As soon as I saw the PVP damage I knew this was going to be a really bad update though. They shouldn't have that in the game at all, it's not enough that whales will already have a boosted character (or an entire boosted team) but now they get strange PVP bonuses on top of that. It is very annoying because the developers really are implementing stuff that even for a careful player like myself feel unfair and damaging. It took me all my tickets to get evil ryu just to SS, then they want us to spend on new events but I refused to up to the point where I can get him SSS to unlock the cars (which I'm doing f2p anwyay) but now it feels like they just want to raise the bar further. Their new goal is to waste my divination tickets to get him to SSS+2 after that just to be able to get the soul core stuff. They already know people are not happy with the way the game requires 14 copies to get SSS and unlock cars but now they are just making it worse. These devs really are just not good people and not smart when it comes to running a game fairly, I do feel they are just out of touch and refuse to adapt to making the game sustainable on a cheaper way for players. Such a strange thing as well, it was a really good game and so fun to play but the developers are so bad they take the fun out of it.

This last update sentenced the game, it no longer motivates you to continue playing if you are f2p only the p2w will continue but many are leaving SFD because we already know the mechanics, the copy paste events and that they are no longer friendly unless you spend a good money, players who don't even have 4 characters maxed out and the devs already add that stupid soul power thing, they rushed to get some extra money out of the players and that destroyed the game
