Amazing that at 3:00 the fan kicked on to cool the Tenere! The view at 2:17 one of the best I've ever seen from a helmet cam! Very nice job. Wish I had my Super Ten there!!
The Tenere at least makes it easy. Great platform on questionable roads while riding two up this is about as extreme as I would consider any large bike to go on Two up or solo. Crappy bike on ice though, worst I have ever ridden, otherwise great touring bike that handles decent on gravel/dirt roads.
My hat comes off to the both of you as to ride that terrain 2 up is quite an accomplishment. i would be alittle iffy just by myself although I did do a section of the TAT in Colorado. I also liked the no music. I'm picking up my new 2018 Yamaha Super Tenere ES this morning & very much looking forward to getting out there. May I ask where you were towards the end with the walkway & the tunnel .
@@135chico Got just over 900 miles on it & have added some after market items. I love the bike as its (to me anyway) both a sport touring & an adventure bike. Going to the North Georgia & North Carolina Mountains in May & also plan on riding the first two sections of the MABDR in Virginia at that time & then its back to Alaska in June & then back to North Carolina in July. At least that's what I have planned so far. The bike is extremely light to me vs my FJR - in fact its weight is a very pleasant surprise & with its low center of gravity it flicks into curves with ease. I now have crash bars on it so this week I'm planning some dirt/forest roads exploring. The thing that scared me the most was my feet able to plant on the ground & I have some boots with some extra rubber on the bottom & I'm able to get about 80 to 90 % of my feet flat. I feel very stable not only when riding but also at a stop. I thank you for all your input & wish you the best.
That's awsome ...which crash bars did you get? Do you have a skid plate? Planning trips is what i need to do more of ... So far i got 2 weeks in june to go to banff and jasper then work my way down to glacier , Yellowstone and finish with grand tetons ... In Aug ride up to alaska with my best friend and his Africa Twin .fingers crossed
@@135chico I got my crash bars from ALTRider & I'll get my skid plate from them also in another month or so. I've also got a set of Clearwater (Darla) Lights (which are adjustable brightness) on the front down low (front axis) with yellow lenses so now I have a clear headlight, two yellow lights & two orange (turn signals) lights up front & there is no way anyone cannot say they never saw me. I don't believe in the saying - loud pipes saves lives I believe in being seen. In the back I also have a license plate holder that has built in turn signals & a brake light & I also have a "Back Off" kit which makes my OEM brake light flash when I apply the brakes. I purchased a "City" tank bag from Twisted Throttle & a Zego Pro (25L) trunk from Touratech for the back & in a few more months will purchase the matching set of panniers. The money, as I'm sure you know, tends to mount up so its alittle bit at a time. If you have not been to Banff, Jasper, Glacier. Yellowstone or the Grand Tetons you will be in for a real treat as they are ALL so beautiful. In my humble opinion I think Glacier is the most beautiful National Park we have followed ever so closely be Yosemite - but that's just my opinion. You will also love Alaske & if you get the chance be sure to stop at the Sign Post Forest in Watson Lake Yukon & also see if you can work Hyder Alaska into your return somehow to see the bears & the Salmon Glacier.
András Vrbovszki I like the Super Tenere for the reason of it being more comfortable ... It's a smoother ride too ... The African twin is very cool but the seat is really narrow ... Feels like riding a dirt bike ...
May I also say that at 5'7'' with a 29 inseam I somewhat leary of the height. I can however plant both of the balls of my feet on the ground firmly so may I ask if either of you have that problem & if so any tips for this tall of a bike.
@@135chico WOW - You are tippy toe with your wife on the back & also riding off road as you did - I'm very impressed plus I feel better about the height issue. I thank you very much for the reply.
Yeah i mean I've been riding bigger bikes knowing I'm short for the last 16 years ... So i always had that problem but i managed how to work it by adjusting my hips and keeping my body in a good shape helps
@@135chico I agree with being in shape - I'm 71 years old but I have been a gym rat since I was 15 & still go 4 mornings a week to the gym with intense workouts for my age & exercise in some way shape or form 5 days taking the weekends off. The only problem I was worried was the height & you have made me feel much better about that - Plus - I'm trading in a 2014 FJR which is 65 lbs heavier than the Super T & also top heavy so I feel good about that also. I'm leaving in a half hour to pick it up - I'm ready. :-) - Stay safe - PS - Where was that walkway & tunnel at on the very end of your video?
The tunner was a waterfall between rocks somwhere by ouray CO ... Riding 2 up i went with the super tenere ... Down the road if i do solo trips im gonna look into the gs 850 or the tiger 800
Thank you for not having any corny music. Fantastic video that showcases the capabilities of these bikes
no music, i like it.
Incredible video.Great bike-I miss my Super Tenere!

Awesome video! I have a '14 Super Tenere and love it. Good to see the bike being properly used. :)
duken4evr thank you
Riding with a pillion in this terrain is tough! you guys did a good job. well done. awesome video by the way.
Hadi Amani Thanks ... we would need to go back to Colorado next year in August when theres less snow

Awsome!!!!! These are my old stomping grounds on my DR650. I’ve got a tenere in my sites and I love them.
Utah Bones hope you get it ... Let me know
What an awesome channel! Thank you for sharing!
Ah the classic fan coming on
Best Landscape view
Looked like a fun ride
Great video. I'm looking at the Africa Twin towards the middle of next year when hopefully I'll have more time for riding.
HWYHOG1 a great bike lighter than the tenere but not as comfortable for long rides
Jesus Silvar I'm 5'9.. So not tall. Wonder if that makes any difference? I only have experience on dirt bikes and HD
HWYHOG1 you are good im 5'6 and handle the tenere just fine 😄😄
Jesus Silvar what were your issues with comfort?
HWYHOG1 in distance the tenere has a better seat and riding position .... The AT it felt like getting on a dirt bike again
Looking at this snow I seem to be in the Alps but thanks to the video are in colorado
Great trip, finally i can listen to engines, and wind not stupid music. Which bike was easier to maneuver in Rockies?
arlingtonpainter the Africa Twin did better I think because of the light weight
That's a good woman that pushes a stuck bike...she have a sister?? Cool video.
Is it may ?
Please tell me which of the motorcycles is better for such trips?
its cold but cool

The tank bag is SW Motech
Great job in some tough conditions. I see published in May 14/17 but when was the vid taken?
Darren Thompson hey thanks I went May 6 - 14
What crash bars and skid plates do you use?
Alt rider crash bars and Givi skid plate
Did you make it up and over black bear pass
Rick Vann hey , no ....too much snow
@@135chico you all were doing some damn good riding on those big bikes.
