I get stung on the hands way less when I don't wear gloves. But... My hands get sticky after a couple of hives, and then there's the risk of spreading disease between apiaries if you don't wash thoroughly, so for that reason I wear thin gloves most of the time. That way I can swap out for new ones when I get too sticky, or jump back in the truck. I NEVER wear thick gloves. It's just too clumsy. If I'm collecting a swarm, or just dropping in a graft frame or something like that then I'm bare handed. Most of the stings I get from my very calm bees is when I crush them between finger and frame or hive tool and finger. With light gloves or no gloves I can feel when I'm doing that and release the pressure before they sting.. Normally.... Loving the content Jared, I'm now fully invested in your journey!

Great video with great idea's. I have found out that bee's here in central Arkansas do not like plastic frames or wax coated frames they will not use them except during heavy nectar flows then they will abandon the frame we only use natural wax foundation now and it helped solve our problem.
Centering your frames work best I use 10 on brood boxes, 9 on the supers and 4 on the splits if they aren't centered they will build to the side of the box or build frames together. I am looking forward to more videos.

You need to make you some swarm traps and put them around the tree line. I use swarm commander in mine and only use a drop or two on the inside top cover if you get the smell to strong they will not go in. You can get good queens from swarms and save your bees. In the last few years I have caught some great gentle wild swarms that produced 2 to 3 boxes of honey the first year. Lots of different plans on TH-cam for swarm traps just remember to leave room in your swarm trap they are looking for room in the box to expand and grow. Couple of new foundation frames and old comb mixed works great.

Make some double screen boards with an opening that will face the rear, for the nucs that are the best queens.
Put the sealed brood above the double screen with the queen and attached bees.
All the field bees will return to the bottom box and make a bunch of queen cells, leave one for the bottom box and cut the rest out if possible when sealed to make splits with.
A guy I watch uses 3 six frame Nucs on one base, then 2 queen exscluders cover all 3 Nucs. Then add normal size boxes as you normally would.
He said that the bees don't fight.
    God bless Brother.

Bee stings suck, but as long as you don't have allergic reactions ( like i have) you will get more comfortable with handling them. Learn to read their temperament, experience is the key. We're in our 2nd year of beekeeping in an urban Indiana setting - currently with 3 hives. My wife trained hands on @ work where they have 20+ commercial hives. We've learned that EVERYONE has their own opinions about beekeeping best practices... we say more power to them. We find techniques that work for us, and encourage everyone (but I'll admit, some of the techniques I've seen seem insane). We inspect weekly (Saturday or Sunday) for small hive beetles, and to prevent swarming. For us, three hives is a lot of work with full inspections weekly. I predict you're going to need volunteer help working as many hives as are in your future. How you're going to manage the girls AND the channel(s) is mind boggling to me. Don't hesitate to reach out to other apiarists for help. All The Best!

Predict you'll have 100+ hives by 4/2024 at this rate. Keep in mind... Bob Binnie has 5-7 workers helping with his hives. He's learned how to do very quick frame checks - if he sees new eggs, doesn't have to *see* the queen to know she's there and working. Best tip I've seen (haven't tried): put unscented swiffer pads in brood box corners to catch small hive beetles.
      Keep up the good work!
