    I mean, I feel bad for the family, and those sales presentations definitely put on the pressure, but it seems odd to make a news story about this case specifically when there are thousands of people who go through the same thing.

      Do you think things will improve under Hilton? Also, Hilton Grand Vacation owners are currently being given the pitch to "upgrade" to trust points over their deeds. They may be trying to unload DRI inventory, and reclaim HGVC to sell again in the future.

      We attended this exact presentation and t's not *quite* that simple. In our case, we stayed stayed 3 days at a fairy nice place for $200 total, but if we didn't attend the presentation, we would be charged full price (something like $1100). They actually do a "check out" process at the end of the presentation verifying you attended so you're kind of stuck there until that happens.

      Not always. I am paying $61.30 per month, or $1,475 every 2 years, for 2 weeks in peak season Kona, Hawaii, in a 2-bedroom resort. Switch to a different property nearby, 1-bedroom, I get 3 weeks. The Holiday Inn down the street charges $1,500 for 5 nights.

  • @ripjones5294

    We own a timeshare (Vacation Club) originally purchased through Sheraton. We really enjoy our yearly visit to Myrtle Beach. The maintenance fee is reasonable for a weeks stay in a two bedroom condo. HOWEVER, like everyone else, we were told what a good investment it is. NO IT IS NOT ! We paid $15K for a pretty much worthless mortgage. When we become too old to enjoy our annual visit, we will have to spend about $3000 to pay a lawyer to get us out of the agreement. We did by the way, visit the Polo Towers in Las Vegas on a "sales presentation" trip. We were not pressured like this family was, by Diamond International. All I had to say was NO, one time, and reminded them that I was invited, because I was already a Sheraton owner.

      Here's an example, which I know is very unusual. We bought an every other year contract resale ($612 total), that was supposed to give us an odd year week in a 2-bedroom resort in Kona, HI. If we go in May or September, and stay in a 1-bedroom, we can get 2 weeks out of it. After the contract landed, we're somehow getting double those points for the same money, up to a month in Hawaii for $1,475 every 2 years in maintenance! The Holiday in cost $1,500 for 5 nights in the same off season.

    @ 4:21 this type of closure which includes a refund only happens for high profile cases that make the news or those who can pony up the dough for a tough legal representative to threaten extended action. what this report leaves out is that in order to cancel that timeshare the company will send them an MRA (mutual release agreement) to have signed, notarized and typically pay a $1K processing fee per contract to complete, after said cancellation takes place come tax season of the following year the company will send those two a1099C for each contract canceled and they'll have to deal with the IRS on that matter.
    This reporting went onto say that they're only canceling their most recent upgrade contracts which implies they were reverted to their previous membership level from prior purchases not in question, that means they're still paying at the very least annual Club Dues for those points and if they want fully out then any open loans would need to be paid in full along with the dues and no reservations can be open for them to go through a department called Transitions and exit out fully, again even then it's a $1K bill per/contract if you really want completely out. Good luck.

    So, this guy was with Diamond Resorts for 20 years etc... trusted them and never had an issue? I highly doubt that! Not to mention you have to qualify before even getting to the sales presentation income, marital status etc... Most go along with the sales pitch because they want cheap deals or show tickets. You know you're in it for several hours. You chose to do so.
    I used to work in title & deeding, ownership transfer, as well as Research. This guy admitted on camera for the record "We did not read the contract" 🤦‍♀Sounds more like someone can't afford retirement and timeshare. That's not Diamond Resorts fault. He had a good time for 20 years with his family, time to sell it if he no longer wants it.

  • @qbanlink25
    @qbanlink25 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Here's a thought, stop buying insanely overpriced useless products to vacation and just save your damn $, buy your plane tickets and go where you want to go with no further commitments. Timeshare interest rates are near credit card rates, it's a win win for the co. if you pay them that 10 year loan you would have spent roughly triple the amount of $ being financed due to interest, if you don't pay them, default and get canceled out then they'll ruin your credit, call for years in collections until they've let your debt balloon in size due to fees till it's profitable to cancel and then when it's ideal for the company foreclosure or cancel it out only to report it for their own tax purposes as a loss for the company so again it's a win win for them regardless whether you chose to pay or not. They already have your deposit $ which is usually thousands owed to some credit card under your name so they got their liquidated damages whether you pay them a cent more or not. Read those damn contracts people, stop being willfully ignorant and don't let these scammers get you.
