It’s now 2022 and I still can’t understand why Leto got so much hate. I think he played the role really well, even other actors who have played joker say it’s not an easy role to play. He raped her and hit her, threw her out on the streets, put her in extremely dangerous situations so batman would be distracted and would save her so that joker would be able to escape and he also mentally abused her. Telling her she never looked beautiful, nobody would ever like her, she'd be nothing without him and stuff like that.

It’s now 2022 and I still can’t understand why Leto got so much hate. I think he played the role really well, even other actors who have played joker say it’s not an easy role to play. It’s Just a shame they cut a lot of his scenes out.
And as for the gangster look- that wasn’t down to him. But his version of the joker was the best upto yet (by that I mean the over all look of the character) , all the tattoos looked great.
