Honestly I feel like some of their misogyny comes out when it’s a male only episode on the podcast. Like to me, it further proved the idea that some men just aren’t capable of having genuine friendships with women bc they only see them in a sexual way. I think they may have even talked about that in the last episode. They all kind of agreed that they would never kick it with a home girl the same way they do with their guy friends which I found kind of weird and telling of their character, and the way they view women. The girls truly made this podcast popular. Without Maru, Christine and even Cynthia, the boys would be so intolerable and misogynistic, minus Dev and Sean! I hope the guys showcase more of their appreciation towards the girls bc every week they come real as hell and dressed to the 9’s!

Please be for real do you really think that if Nick didn't genuinely care for Maru he would be friends with her for 12 years? Obviously you are misinterpreting their friendship dynamic because that's just the way they are with each other Nick is pretty blunt with maru and that's what he was talking about in the last podcast is that how he can't be the same with his girl best friend as he is with his guy best friend because things get misinterpreted such as basically he has to say things in a nicer way to Maru and his friends that r girls then he would say to his guy friends because they wouldn't take it the same way that she does. I don't know if you know this or not but he didn't say that he was stopped being friends with maru he said he wouldn't be as close with her because you wouldn't see her as much if they didn't work together. Thank you, they’ve talked about this a couple of times and it’s one of the points I heavily disagree with. I’m 3-4(?) years older than them and it always comes off as a sign of them still being young-ish. Boundaries are important, especially when it comes to the more niche things in a relationship, but straight out saying that a guy shouldn’t be texting their female friends or seeing them 1 on 1 is wild. The majority of my closest friends are girls and asking me to disregard those friendships is wild and extremely insecure.

I get not seeing them one on one if that's a boundary the couple agrees on together, but to say your partner can't have a guy bsf is really not it. To assume they would automatically be romantically or sexually interested in eachother is so so wrong. I can have female and male friends who are strictly platonic, whether I find them attractive or not and vice versa (because is the last podcast they said you can only have an opposite gender bsf if you dont find them attractive...I would not date most people I find attractive.). I'm only 19 and I understand the concept just fine, so it's odd to hear them say things like that.

Them being in that transition of early twenties to mid twenties to late twenties is what makes them interesting to watch. Even if you go back and watch their earliest stuff compared to now they’ve matured and have changed opinions on certain things and the growth is fun to watch. Sometimes though they definitely hit on points that I hope they re-evaluate down the line, especially that guy/girl best friend part.

Genuine question though: Isn't it weird to cut off a friend you have a great bond with JUST because you got into a relationship? I feel like comparing the scenario with married couples and asking "Does your mom have a guy best friend? No." is not really realistic, because the relationship you're in, you're not even sure if it'll last. Not saying you should treat your relationship like it's temporary, but what if that relationship didn't last? So you're just going to show up to your friend's doorstep like "Heyyyy I'm back. So my bf/gf and I broke up. Can we hang out like we always did again?"

Its sucks, this group, along with the guests, are usually open minded so when the double standards come out it hurts more. In the last video they talked about how viet starts shit because he has short fuse but when their home girls would do it, they would be cut off because how dare they get mad and put the boys in danger. As a person who doesn’t have male friendships because they’ve been inconsistent and unfair. If I ever had another male best friend, I’m not getting rid of him when I’m in a relationship. Because I’m not going to get into a friendship that isn’t going to withstand time. It is insecure for someone to have to give up another friend bc their partner wants them to only need them. It sucks that the conditions for platonic friendships have to be so surface level to be maintained

(Referring to the your girl having a guy best friend thing) I think it’s very situational based. How long you’ve been with your partner (cause time will build confidence within each other), how well you know the guy friend, if you’ve been cheated on before ect. From my perspective if I’m dating a girl, we’ve been dating awhile and I’ve met her guy friend and he’s never made any weird jokes or has done anything that makes me concerned then there’s no problems. As the guy best friend tho I think you should go out of your way to get somewhat close with the boyfriend cause that will definitely help build trust between you two and clear any confusion on what your intentions are with his girl. Definitely as a boyfriend whenever you’re with your girl and y’all are go out and her guy friend is there make sure you talk and get to know him so you get a better gauge of who he his.

This conversation of guy and girl best friends is honestly getting repetitive and frustrating to hear. Of course, respect your partner and their boundaries, but to me, if you’re so uncomfortable or angry even at the thought of or fact that your partner has a best friend of the opposite gender, that screams immature and insecure. Please grow up. My parents are middle aged and have been married for decades and they still keep in touch with their opposite gender best friends from college and are good friends with opposite gender coworkers. This mindset you guys have is disappointing and honestly contributes a lot to why people don’t get into relationships because this is not something couples should be overly concerned about. Your friendships with others shouldn’t have to be dismissed or diminished because of a romantic relationship.
