I LOVE the single rider lines. I was able to ride Radiator Springs Racers 3 times, basically just a walk on each time. The standby line was 70 minutes. I also used single rider at Web Slingers, basically a walk on too. Highly recommend using single rider if you can. 👌 😊
Great info! We are coming the first week of June. Good to hear it won’t be super hot yet! Hoping to get there for early entry at least a couple of our park days. 🤞🏻
I love going in the summer. Less chance of rain. Since the last 2 winters, it has rained the whole time. Looking forward to going the end of summer. Great summer tips.
Bring flip flops and tennis shoes. That way when you’re feet hurt in your shoes you can switch out to your flip flops and vice versa. A tip for if the toe part bothers you, wrap the toe part of yours or your kids’ with coflex tape (the stuff they wrap around your arm over gauze) and pack moleskin. It will protect your ankles from getting blisters.
Tried to prepare for the walking before we came. I was doing between 6,000 - 8,000 steps each day at home for over a month and that wasn’t even close to the number of steps we made while we were here. The first day we walked 18,303 steps and the second day we walked 20,506 steps. Plus it might be smart to even practice standing for long periods of time.
Omgosh, I was just in Disneyland for the first time on April 30th and May 1st. I am from Canada 🇨🇦 and I was surprised by how cold, grey, and gloomy the weather was. It was so cold and windy that the fireworks couldn't happen. Next time, I'm definitely wearing more layers. Still, I had an AMAZING time. Arrived at 7:30 am and stayed all day until 12:30 am both days.❤ Thanks for all your tips and videos 😀 Maybe next time I might see you in the parks! Also, Sunday wasn't nearly as busy as the Monday.
Awesome and helpful vlog!! We didn’t realize there was that little play area with slides and stuff. Definitely have that on our list of things to check out!! Thanks for such informative and fun vlogs!
Love your videos! Very informative and awesome that you include your family! My family and I will be visiting Disneyland for the 1st time here on June 15-18!
I was not interested in this video and wasn't going to watch. Not going in summer, doesn't apply. BUT it is YOU so I watched. And you almost immediately said something to ME! I have been trying to find out how early entry works. We're going in November, and have reservations for the one place I certainly can't afford but was crazy enough to book. And you did it! I now am comfortable that we can get in at 7:20! THANK YOU! (now if I can just get the rest of the family to keep up with me...)
Yes! We showed up at 7:27 AM about 2-3 weeks ago and I was surprised to find the gates already open (I expected it to be 7:30 AM as in times past). But I learned shortly thereafter that gates now open at 7:20 AM due to early entry (so Disneyland Resort hotel guests can be INSIDE the park by the time early entry begins at 7:30 AM and not wasting time outside the gates).
Hi, congrats on your videos! It’s amazing how much information you give! I’m a fan!! I’m going this summer.. do you know if there are fireworks everyday in June??
It’s not something I pay a lot of attention to, but I would guess yes? Disney doesn’t release their event schedule until 6 weeks out, so keep an eye on the calendar as your trip gets closer for what the hours are. If it says “Wondrous Journeys with Projections” that means there’s a show, but no fireworks. If it says something like “Wondrous Journeys with Fireworks” that’s when you’re getting the full experience.
Thank you so much for your video! Can I request concourse B and row 1 for the best viewing experience? We may have to wait a bit but that's okay if they let us do that,
@@fujithedog No. I usually just take what they give me. There aren’t really any tips to get a good spot. All you can do is ask. They may honor your request. Or they may tell you they can’t do special seating.

Hi Traver and Amy, thank you so much for the wonderful videos and the great information. We are coming from the UK for our first family trip in August. Our tickets will not allow us to pre-purchase Genie + , so I’ll have to purchase as soon as we enter the parks. An app tutorial video would be so helpful if you could manage that ! Thank you!
It's super simple! It's right on the home screen of the app. You could look now even. I don't have tickets for today and it's still trying to get me to buy Genie+ on the home screen. If you download the app, open it, and click the home icon, at the very top should be a purple banner to buy Genie+ for the day. You should click that and follow the instructions day of. If your phone is equipped for Apple Pay or Google Pay, then it's even easier.
Hi! These videos are amazing! We have be watching all of them ahead of our visit. We are coming to California from the UK 3rd-30th August and plan to do 5 days at Disneyland (3 Disneyland & 2 Cal adventure). We are a family of 6 and can’t afford the genie+ on our tickets so we are wanting to come at the quietest time for ride lines. If the passes come back on the 14th should we visit before then, during or after? Please could you tell us what would be the best 5 days for us to visit in our time there? Thank you! ✈️🇺🇸🎉🏰
August is a bit of a mixed bag. On one hand, two levels of annual passholders are blocked out the first two weeks. After the 14th, one level returns to the park, and after the 21st, the lowest level is allowed back into the park. But, schools are also starting. My kids go back sometime around the 16th of August. And I’m sure others are as well. Which means fewer families can make it during the week. Especially considering you’re less likely to pull kids out of school the first week or two as they get into the groove of new classes. What you choose to do is really up to you. Go before the 14th and avoid all those extra passholders? Or go at the end of the month when more kids are likely to be back in school.
@@SoCalDisneyDad thank you so much for taking the time to reply. Maybe we will do a bit of both. I presume Monday, Tuesday, Wednesdays are the quietest days?
@@raedenedavies3575 Usually I’d say Tuesday to Thursday. Monday is usually lumped in with a long weekend if people are to take a day off work. They’ll usually either do Friday to Sunday or Saturday to Monday.

The answer depends on where you’re coming from. 😂 February can be one of our coldest months. But we’re talking lows in the 30s and highs in the mid-40s to low 50s. To us, this is freezing. But if you’re coming from 0 degrees? It may feel like a heat wave. 😂 Rain is a possibility. Most years, I would say an unlikely possibility, but this year winter was pretty wet. Planning a trip this year. Originally thinking July but also considering October or even Christmas! My daughter has never been, should we do a classic (non-theme/holiday) trip first?
We love Christmastime at Disneyland so that would be our vote. But October is pretty great too. If you want warm (aka hot) October is the month. July is the very beginning of Summer here but can still be cloudy toward the beginning of the month. Halloween decorations in October are nice. But Christmastime is the best. Christmas stuff starts around November 10th.
Single rider is for a minimum age of 7, and all parties will be split. Only on very very rare occasions would you end up sitting next to someone from your party using single rider.
It’ll be one of the first videos I put out in September! I’ve got a slew of Halloween videos I do each year. Oogie Boogie Bash, Halloween treats, decorations overview, Haunted Mansion Holiday and more!
Excellent content! Glad a DAD like you made this youtube channel! We are coming from The Philippines and have a 5 year old who goes to school. PH is 15 hours ahead of CA time. Breakfast in PH 6AM is 3PM in CA. 6AM in CA is 9PM in PH. If we decide not to adjust her body clock to CA time so that she will not have a hardtime going back to school (and work for us), if we go 1PM CA time (4AM PH time) can we still enjoy Disneyland and DCA at 1PM up to closing time. Are the lines to the entrance still long? what tickets should we buy?
The entrance lines won’t be bad. The ride lines are at their worst around that time though. If you buy Genie+ that would help. Some of the rides might be gone by then would be the only concern. But I’m not 100% The ones that might go quickly would be Indiana Jones or Smuggler’s Run at Disneyland and Toy Story Midway Mania at DCA.
Did I forget to mention that. 😂 I’ve shared the tip a few times so I guess it slipped my mind on this instance. You speak to a cast member at the ride entrance and ask for it.
Yes! We love our MagicBands. The on-ride interactions and the nighttime spectaculars with them are so much fun. They do work at DL, WDW, and Aulani. I've also heard they're coming to Cruises soon too. You do have to add the magicband to both apps, though. But it's a minimal amount of effort to do so.
Great video, how are the summer crowds after 10pm at Disneyland? Hit or miss? Good time to ride rides?? We’re going third week in June. Not an event night.
Any day after 10 PM is a solid time to ride rides. Most people leave after fireworks. So if you stick around till midnight it’s all downhill from there.
There aren’t really any discounts for that sort of purchase unless you’re military possibly. You can get package deals, like a third night free, and things like that from a place like Get Away Today. My referral link is in the video description. The coupon code listed there only works on packages (hotel + tickets)
We showed up at 7:55 AM in this video. Gates open at 7:20 AM. Early Entry begins for Disney Hotel guests at 7:30 AM. Everyone else is held in the hub until 8 AM.
@@directoru6-997 The only reason to show up that early is if something like Galaxy’s Edge or Avengers Campus is opening for the very first time. I showed up at 7:40 AM for the first day of avengers campus and ended up standing in line for 5 hours to get into the land. But there is absolutely no reason to arrive earlier than maybe 7:10 AM. Even that’s a bit overkill.
So we are coming there at the end of June, right after school ends. Do you think it will be extremely busy? We will be there on a Friday and a Sunday. I went to Disneyland at the end of April and it was soooo packed.
It’s hard to say. If you went END of April, that was already after Spring Break and it’s not going to get much less crowded than that. June could be busier than end of April. Spring Break (Mid-March to Mid-April) is the busiest all year.
omg you went on mothers day?!?! I was there & would've loved a picture with you wow🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯 the fact that I can literally even see myself in the rope drop part of the video😲but I ran off to toon town tho😅
I heard if you do leave the park to rest at your hotel it’s a bit of a hassle to get back in because walking or shuttles and then waiting in line again to get back into the park?
Do you think Magic Keys might be available again after the Southern Ca Resident offer is over May 25th? Thank you for your videos and content always enjoyable and appreciated.
Magic Keys were just on sale a month ago. I wouldn’t anticipate new sales again until August when most people’s passes come up for renewal from the initial wave back in 2021
We’re getting geared up for our trip in a few weeks. Apologies if you’ve answered this before, but what phone grip do you use? I’ve looked at a few and thought I’d ask an expert!
I have a Manfrotto tripod with a iPhone holder that screws into it. Here are the links to both: Mini-tripod: amzn.to/3Iv4ACq Phone clamp: amzn.to/3MtDzAm I’ve had these for about two years and use them heavily weekly and they are both high quality sturdy products.
That’s the very beginning of wildfires. Generally they are more prevalent in September and October after everything is dried out. Wildfires rarely impact Disneyland as it’s not located near any large amounts of brush. It’s smack in the middle of a city. But they absolutely do affect other things, like if you plan to drive through Malibu or up the PCH. Wildfires and mudslides can cause road closures, etc
I have a 5 day trip coming up during the 4th of july, do they do a big 4th of july celebration? This will also be my first time ever going to disneyland!
I’ve never been, but I do hear they have special Fourth of July evening spectaculars. I’d imagine there will be some special limited time treats too. What else they do, I don’t know. There might be a special cavalcade?
I literally booked my reservation the day you posted this and it’s for the weekend of August 11😂 I do have a question. Can you upgrade to a hopper at the park or do you have to buy it ahead of time? Thanks for your vids!
You can definitely upgrade while you’re there. If you’d like to upgrade before you go, to avoid time at the ticket booths, you can call Disney or chat with them through the mobile app and they can take care of it for you as well.
@@SoCalDisneyDad Thanks so much! I’ve been binging your vids since I made the reservation. We are doing Disneyland the first and then DCA the second. I don’t think we’ll spend the whole day in DCA so I’d like to be able to hop. Thank you for you vids!
No, he loves Space Mountain, from the very first time. Splash Mountain on the other hand, he still freaks out as evidenced by his face in this video. I think it’s the lack of safety restraints, despite Amy holding his hand this time around.
How do you know the dates the keys will be released? Like August 14th for the Enchant keys? Is it a guess or is this released somewhere? You’ve got me looking to see if I can book a trip to end on that date!
Released was probably poor terminology on my part. It’s the date when passholders can come back. You can view the blackout calendars on Disney’s website under the magic key tab. It’s Imagine and Enchant that are blocked out all summer. Enchant’s first day back is August 14th and Imagine’s first day back is August 21st.
Love the Pineapple dole whip, what I don’t like is how they cheat you out of the whip by filling the cup in a circular motion leaving the center of the cup empty. Really Disney, how cheap can you get?
Personally, I'd probably do 2 days at each, but it really depends on your family's interests. DCA only has 18 rides compared to Disneyland's 34 rides. You could be perfectly satisfied with only a single day at DCA, at the same time, 3 days at Disneyland park sounds a little overkill to me, so the 2 days at both parks spices up the experience a bit. Before we became passholders, we would do 3-day park hopper tickets and always felt we got everything done that we wanted to. Having that 4th day ensures you can move at a more leisurely pace. But choosing where to spend those days is going to come down to which park has more appeal. Go with your intuition. You can't go wrong either way really.
@SoCal Disney Dad eek. Maybe we picked the wrong time to go. But we went in October last year and it was so busy it was insane. That's why I picked September this time. Ugh
@@amycuadra9382 It doesn’t usually get that hot around here. You are more inland than us. 100s aren’t impossible, but I feel like we see them only very rarely.
I didn’t realize they were doing anything on the 17th for DL’s bday. We have park reservations for DCA that day. Should we switch it? Has anything official been announced?
I’m not sure it’s the type of thing they really announce. We were there for the 66th two years ago and there were special snacks at Jolly Holiday unique for that day. And they had a special cavalcade. That was about it.
Do I have to wait until I'm in the park to purchase and individual LL? And can I buy one for each park if I ha e park hopper? And those do not effect me getting genie + LL throughout the day correct?
Unfortunately, yes. You can’t purchase ILLs until your ticket is scanned into a park. And correct, ILLs and Genie+ are on separate systems. They don’t affect one another.
Hi! We haven’t been to Disneyland in quite a while but will be there in early September. If we already have our park tickets and reservations, how does it work with Oogie Boogie Bash? Are we required to purchase separate tickets for that?
Yes, unfortunately you do have to purchase a separate ticket for the Oogie Boogie Bash. They haven’t announced when the tickets will go on sale but I would guess June/July? Hope this helps!
I think so. My five year old loves it. I just asked him right now how much he liked it and he said "Super much" and spread out his arms as much as they could go. And he's not really a thrill junkie. My 8 year old is, but my 5 year old is generally thrill-averse. So hopefully that helps!
@@SoCalDisneyDad Thank you Trevor! He is not a big fan of any dips like the Cars ride. We will be going late June. It will be his 3rd time and I’m hoping he will be a little taller for more rides!

Hi can you say what is the date pass holders are back to the parks?
August 14th for Enchant Key and August 21st for Imagine Key
Planning a trip this year. Originally thinking July but also considering October or even Christmas! My daughter has never been, should we do a classic (non-theme/holiday) trip first?
We love Christmastime at Disneyland so that would be our vote. But October is pretty great too. If you want warm (aka hot) October is the month. July is the very beginning of Summer here but can still be cloudy toward the beginning of the month.
Halloween decorations in October are nice. But Christmastime is the best. Christmas stuff starts around November 10th.
Can you do single rider at radiator springs with a 6 y.o. And have next to each others seats?
Single rider is for a minimum age of 7, and all parties will be split.
Only on very very rare occasions would you end up sitting next to someone from your party using single rider.
Looking forward to the winter season videos! Hopefully one before November for November lol
Hoping for tips about Halloween! 🎉
But I’m not 100%
The ones that might go quickly would be Indiana Jones or Smuggler’s Run at Disneyland and Toy Story Midway Mania at DCA.
@@SoCalDisneyDad Thank you! More power to your channel!
Great tips. How exactly did u get the buddy pass for Monster’s Inc?
Did I forget to mention that. 😂
I’ve shared the tip a few times so I guess it slipped my mind on this instance. You speak to a cast member at the ride entrance and ask for it.
Do you recommend getting a magic band plus? Also, can the bands be used at both DL and WDW?
Where do you get the buddy pass from?
Ask a cast member outside the ride, they have them.
Where’s the cheapest place to buy a 1 day park hopper??
There aren’t really any discounts for that sort of purchase unless you’re military possibly.
You can get package deals, like a third night free, and things like that from a place like Get Away Today.
My referral link is in the video description. The coupon code listed there only works on packages (hotel + tickets)
@@SoCalDisneyDad thanks.
What time should people be at the park gates for rope drop?
We showed up at 7:55 AM in this video. Gates open at 7:20 AM. Early Entry begins for Disney Hotel guests at 7:30 AM. Everyone else is held in the hub until 8 AM.
I’ve heard people say to be there by 6:30am 😳 so I’ll be taking your advice lol.
Ok, good to know! Thank you for taking the time to answer. You guys are awesome!
We would have been happy to meet you. I hope you had a fantastic day all the same!
I heard if you do leave the park to rest at your hotel it’s a bit of a hassle to get back in because walking or shuttles and then waiting in line again to get back into the park?
Nah, not a problem at all. Sure, you have to go through security again. But it's really not that much of a hassle.
Do you think Magic Keys might be available again after the Southern Ca Resident offer is over May 25th?
Thank you for your videos and content always enjoyable and appreciated.
Magic Keys were just on sale a month ago. I wouldn’t anticipate new sales again until August when most people’s passes come up for renewal from the initial wave back in 2021
@@SoCalDisneyDad
Thank you for your insight, makes sense.
We’re getting geared up for our trip in a few weeks. Apologies if you’ve answered this before, but what phone grip do you use? I’ve looked at a few and thought I’d ask an expert!
I have a Manfrotto tripod with a iPhone holder that screws into it. Here are the links to both:
Mini-tripod: amzn.to/3Iv4ACq
Phone clamp: amzn.to/3MtDzAm
I’ve had these for about two years and use them heavily weekly and they are both high quality sturdy products.
@@SoCalDisneyDad Thanks for the quick reply! My wife and I are loving the channel
With wildfires so common in late summer now, what is the impact on Disneland and Southern CA around August 😢
Was your youngest afraid of hyperspace/space mtn the first time he went on it since it’s all dark and fast?
No, he loves Space Mountain, from the very first time.
Splash Mountain on the other hand, he still freaks out as evidenced by his face in this video. I think it’s the lack of safety restraints, despite Amy holding his hand this time around.
Please tell him that we think he is very brave 💪
How do you know the dates the keys will be released? Like August 14th for the Enchant keys? Is it a guess or is this released somewhere? You’ve got me looking to see if I can book a trip to end on that date!
Released was probably poor terminology on my part. It’s the date when passholders can come back. You can view the blackout calendars on Disney’s website under the magic key tab.
It’s Imagine and Enchant that are blocked out all summer. Enchant’s first day back is August 14th and Imagine’s first day back is August 21st.
@@SoCalDisneyDad this makes more sense thank you for taking the time to clarify!!
Love the Pineapple dole whip, what I don’t like is how they cheat you out of the whip by filling the cup in a circular motion leaving the center of the cup empty. Really Disney, how cheap can you get?
Off-topic question: Where did you get your Star Wars hat, and what brand is it? Also, great video. New Sub from me.
Star Trader, the gift shop at the end of Star Tours in Tomorrowland has them the last I saw. It’s a New Era 39 Thirty
@@SoCalDisneyDad Found it. Thanks!
Hi! We're going for 4 days (non park hopper) in a week. Do you think 3 days at Disneyland and 1 at CA or 2 days at each park? We also added Genie+.
Thank you for your quick reply! I'm a new subscriber, and your videos and tips have been very helpful.
How bad is the heat in September typically? I booked a trip for sep 11 through 15. Worried it might be too hot... :/
September is the hottest month of the year, so definitely expect it to be high 90s without a cloud in the sky.
@SoCal Disney Dad eek. Maybe we picked the wrong time to go. But we went in October last year and it was so busy it was insane. That's why I picked September this time. Ugh
@@SoCalDisneyDad although we are from Sacramento so... in September here, it is usually about 110 degrees
Thanks!!
Tickets went on sale June 30th last year. So I would expect similar again this year.
definitely aiming for zurgs chest
Do it! I usually get about 150,000 to 200,000 points from that first Zurg room if it doesn't stop like it did in this video.
Is space mountain a good ride for a 5 year old?
@@soneporter901 Space Mountain is a roller coaster. So it’s going to have drop and dips.
I’d take him on Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Gadget Coaster in Toontown first. If he likes that he might like Space. But if he hates it, then definitely don’t do Space.
@@SoCalDisneyDad Good idea! Thank you!
Dude, I don't know what California does to us East Coasters! I spent 33 years in the NYC metro area, so I am used to all types of weather. I now live an hour north of Sacramento, and my tolerance for cold weather has completely diminished! Back east, if it hit 65 degrees, it was shorts weather. Now, it feels completes frigid! California has weakened me! Lmao!
My friends and I used to go “jacket-less” if it warmed above freezing. It was a heatwave in the winter.
Now, anything below 60 is intolerable. 😂
I forever pray majority of park goers avoid the single rider queue 😂
No Disneyland Railroad and no Mr. Lincoln, if you say no to the Tiki Room we've got straight-up beef.
We love the Tiki Room! And we actually put riding the railroad back in one of our other videos.
@@SoCalDisneyDad Now that's some bullying I can get behind. Choo Choo
I like your videos but getting tired of the fact you put red borders around your thumbnails so people don’t know if they’ve already seen your video. It’s for clicks and views and I don’t like it. I am happy to give you a view but it’s annoying when I can’t discern if I’ve already watched it because the progress bar is basically hidden. C’mon….
but the borders are pink? you can’t tell the difference between red and pink?
