@@THQAutomotive To be fair, you're probably doing them a favour clearing out stock that no one buys! Like random grommets and screws, or anything OEM because everyone buys aftermarket stuff... 😅 Really looking forward to this build. It's the ground up, rebuild dream for many in the whole car and bike scene! If you'd told me 20 years ago; one day I'd be watching someone nut 'n' bolt, or technically resto mod a T5, I'd have laughed in their face! But here we are... @@gazbailey4816 haha, you're probably right about TPS. We've been surprised they have some of the bits we've needed. This build is a dream of mine, I'm so thankfully I'm in a position we can do it.
Great progress and hats off to you for the T5 love! How you going for the instrument cluster, and steering wheel choices? I love my T5, a lot, she's on 286k now, 2.5BNZ. Bought at 160k in 2012. Though the standard steering wheel is now officially mank so I'm fitting one off a Passat B7. In research for this I've discovered that the early instrument cluster (and therefore early canbus) is super basic, so you probably won't that that LHD one off the silver preproduction Caravelle. The 08 instrument cluster will probably have a better trip computer in it and more functionality from VCDS, enabling cruise control and possibly MFSW steering wheel choices, plus possibly temperature and trip etc. Saying that, the 08 panel van instrument cluster may be more basic than preproduction Caravelle, but somehow doubt it. You probably already know that, but incase not, just sharing the love! Check out VCDS before choosing!
@@BenjiAncillotti All will be revealed, our good friend Darren Woodhouse from Woodhouse and Carmen is tackling all that for us. He a wizard with clusters and has a plan for this build. This will have its own dedicate video here.
I was thinking that it was strange to be doing such a massive build on a late model car, then realised it's probably 20 years old! Last time I worked on VW Transporters it was on brand new T4s.
Yes the silver donor with a per production Transporter so at least 21 years old. The blue shell in a 2008. Crazy to think many parts are the same as the current Transporter model.

I guess you could, but you'd need. donor T6.1 as you'd need so much off that, ECU, BCM, engine, gearbox, clocks and looms etc. It wouldn't financial be worth it.

I nearly bought a T6.1 in that colour to build the coolest looking German style taxi build. VW messed up my order though. I still have the taxi sign from German I was going to use with Taxi removed and THQ on. Maybe we'll do that some day. The colour of this is a secret, until the next episode 🤫
