Thank you, I appreciate the support.
I will keep putting out content, I know it won't all be what everyone wants to see. I do have a wide range of interests and i am sure there will be something for everyone.
truck looks great. square body truck & trailer is a great idea. liked & sub'd!
Yes still a work in progress. Thanks for the sub. It was definitely one of my early vids so still figuring it all out with sound and so on. Just a mechanic not a tech guy
"Obviously It's been toaster strudeled" lmao I love it. I might steal that
Looks good I like short beds but I'm more of a long bed guy they just look right
I think I depends on what you want out of the truck, a work truck or a little hot rod play toy. It's all about power to weight
my brother has a long bed 3 quarter ton 77 with a 5 speed and a 400 with vortec heads technically a 406 with a cam Its fun
If you can, will you give or show in more detail how you measure for your first cut ?
I can't remember it's been a minute. I thought i said in the vid, All the specs are available online.
@@choppedinc. I don't recall hearing that. I know you said you got the frame cleaned up where you were going to cut it and then you went to cutting. If the specs are available online, can you point me in the right direction of wear to look. Thanks and keep up the good work. Really like your videos.
Thank you appreciate the support,
This was a God write up i found
Shortboxing the Frame - MR. WELLWOOD'S SHOP OF HORRORS
www.gwellwood.com/project-cars/the-crusty-chevy/shortboxing-the-frame/
This is so weird homie has a Aussie accent I don't think there in Australia but he's into square bodies like a California or Texas boy I'm jealous of his truck collection slash junkyard
Appreciate you watching. Yes I am original from Australia been in texas for 8 years now, have accumulated my far share of junk for sure.
You have the whole chassis change the whole thing or cut out of the long bed frame to shorten it instead of ruining a factory shortbed lol just my opinion
If I was sure it was a good frame I would have, but being it was burt I was concerned about the integrity of the metal and I would have had to rebuild the whole front because all the rubbers were done. That's mostly me reason
The long beds on those generation Chevy & GMC fullsize pickups look better but the short beds are cool.
@@choppedinc. & short beds probably get better mileage too since they weigh lighter.
Did you trust flux weld to weld a frame I got told by many welders that I have to use rod welder for that job bcos I'm planning to cut mine since year ago??????
I use a gas mig welder. Have done all that way with zero problems. I tow with the ones I have done. I always plate them aswell.
I can tell the year of that square body is a 1984 because it has 1983-1984 headlamp bezels & grille & 1984 was when both the windshield wiper & high & low beam light switches were moved to the steering column.
Now days it gets hard with everyone having a favorite front end they like to swap them out. 70s fronts on 80s cabs and so on
@@choppedinc. Also what I very seldom see on the roads here in the USA nowadays are cabover semis. I remember back in the 1980s there was a mix of cabover & conventional cab semis in use. Today mostly conventional cab semis are in use. I like the cabovers better because they're easier to turn & park in with their shorter wheel bases & not having that nose in front of the cab getting in the way of anything. Cabovers look cooler too & I miss seeing them on the roadways. I like that black Freightliner cabover tow truck in the movie Terminator 2 & hated to see it get totaled in that movie. In Terminator 1 there was an International Transtar cabover fifth wheel with a tanker trailer hooked up to it.
when shortening the frame do i have to do any modification to the driveshaft or anything along those lines?
Yes will need to get it shortened or find a factory short bed drive shaft. To getting it shortened it can cost as low as $150 up to $500 depending on the drive shaft shop.
How much a job like this cost? So I’ll know what to look for in my area
I know there is a guy on Oklahoma doing it for $2000 he will cut down the bed aswell.
good job where are you from i have a long bed to cut short bed
@@choppedinc. where at in east tx? I’m in Texarkana and may be buying a longbed and will need it cut down.
Awesome show but u gotta get some better theme music
Thanks, very new to this not much for computers lol still getting my head around it all. Mixing it up with some of my new stuff.
@@choppedinc. i couldnt hear you so i turned up the volume. then that 'music' came blaring in. so i had to turn it down again
👽👍
Why not just do a frame swap...
Not many around and normally they have been sitting and will need to be rebuilt and everything else will need to be swapped, whole front end and new brake lines and gas lines. I knew all my stuff worked and I didn't have to spend any money on buying a new frame. I plate everything so it's just as strong or stronger than factory. I have towed with other trucks I have short beded. Not against using a frame, it's just time and cost and personal preference.
Love the Aussie humor!
Lol thank you, I come by it honestly, lived there all my younger years
