Busted! Otis Series 1 Traction Elevators at Somerset Place Tower I, Troy MI

- These are some very nice 9 story Otis traction elevators at a pretty tall office building in Troy. Based on the behavior of these elevators, I'm pretty sure they are Elevonic 401s! While filming these elevators, I was approached by a security guard, this video was getting a little too long, I definitely should have gotten in and out quicker. On the bright side I got a good size video of these things, at least I didn't get caught right at beginning. Overall when dealing with security, be polite, be honest and comply with what they say. Remember you are NOT required to delete any footage you've recorded. Photography is not a crime!

Bruh on getting busted just for filming Elevators… LOL 😂
I mean, it’s your hobby & nobody should try to disrespect nor stop you from filming different Elevators.
Heck, I think that next time you visit AZ, we should do some Elevator Videos together (Especially hope to not get busted. LOL) alongside hopefully doing some more railfanning & whatnot.
Especially coming from me, there’s a lot of things that I happen like alongside Elevators & Railfanning.
@@raptorbirdsfan2024 yeah I’d love to do some videos with you some time! The thing is, this building is private property and they had every right to kick me out. I wish they didn’t though and understood the hobby. But to them it looks suspicious which is why the guard escorted me out
At least the security doesn't sound harsh
True I’ve come across worse encounters
@@Jamestube8439 I've also watched the video where you got harassed and staked by an angry man. I was appalled and pissed, that man should never treat you like a criminal. I'm so sorry this has to happen to you, hopefully, you don't face with this guy again. Do you know if he's an employee or security?
@@elevatorsbemoreby0103 I'm pretty sure he was a property owner, so that honestly makes it even worse. Next time I encounter a situation like this I will probably call the police because I won't put up with any crap from him. It's funny because I have visited that office building a couple times and some of the building custodians and maintenance crews were doing some work on the elevator (pumping out water from a flood) and they were really nice and I talked to them about my interest) I asked to get a video of the open elevator shaft and they let me.
7:03 Otis elevator has been disconnected now it is busted
I don’t know how anyone can get caught by security by riding elevators I’ve had the same thing with me except I don’t have a TH-cam channel I’ve told security that I’m interested in the elevators that I like and I like elevators
Well if you're on private property (which is pretty much most buildings that are filmed) security or the building owner can ask someone to leave the building even if there isn't a reason. Their property, their rules.
@@Jamestube8439 that is true whatever they want is there choice if they want you to leave or not has security told you a couple times or just once I have a couple times and if I was staying in a hotel they told me if I was a guest in the hotel
@@noahharris2260 Security and/or the property owner can kick you off the property for whatever reason they want.
@@Jamestube8439 yes I know whatever they want to do it’s there choice if they want to or not
@@Jamestube8439 especially since 9/11. And its ORDER you to depart or else
Yikes! If I was in that situation, I would’ve freaked out
Yeah I feel you, it wasn't too bad though.
It still hurts no matter what
@@elevatortoiletandtransitfa9258 Yeah
Such issues happen especially since sept. 11
I am glad he said things about riding the elevators and not filming.
He did technically say it was riding that he had a problem with. And even if he asked me to delete my video, I obviously wouldn't have and would have proceeded to exit the building.
7:09 “CAN I HELP YOU?”
“How can I help you today?”
lol, imagine if I did say that.
That Security guard was not super rude
Yeah thank goodness, he was just confused at first at me saying riding elevators and filming them is a hobby.
This Elevator just got busted in Office building ask permission leave this private property 7:08
Some buttons have labels on them.
I also got busted for filming an Otis series 1 elevator. The clerk there was creepy he watched me get on the elevator and watched me get off. I think he even watched me through the cameras too.
Love that thumbnail btw
I mean if you're on their property then yes they have the right to watch and see what people are doing in public areas of the building. And thanks, glad you like the thumbnail.
@@Jamestube8439 I told one of my friends at school about the incident, and he was a tad bit confused why I was in the hotel in the first place since I live right near it but he understood after I explained why. he was on my side about the watching situation. He told me it wasn’t the Hispanic guy’s time and place to spy on me like that. I don’t know if he was just trying to be nice to me or what but he is a honest person so he’s most likely being honest.
I have no clue if that that Hispanic guy owns the hotel or what but either way he is creepy
7:20 security guard gets baffled from what the elevator filmer says
Pure facts.
Blame 9/11 and Covid.
👍
This is why I only take one ride and why I immediately stop the video if someone comes in.
Yeah but hey at least if you get busted you'll get a bunch of views since it's something irregular. (Anything that's irregular in an elevator video, such as the elevator breaking down, the power going out while riding the elevator seem to get a lot of views and they're pretty interesting to watch.
True
It’s a security office building.
Nope, just a regular office building people can rent space at.
If I were you I would just get off the elevataors
See this is why I normally only ride once or twice at most when I’m in office buildings.
Not really a place I want to have fun in…
Yeah, my goal was to try and ride all the elevators once. Didn't really work out for me as you saw in the video...
Yeah same here
Would love to see these
7:05: You sure are busted!
You should’ve been like, “I don’t answer questions.” Haha 😂 but in reality, whenever I film elevators anywhere, I nearly always ask for permission so I don’t have to deal with this crap.
Don’t blame you, the thing is there isn’t a desk in the lobby. It’s somewhere on the top floor which I didn’t even know about until I got busted
Yeah He could've said that be it could be disrespectful! Especially if it's in a quiet office building that's private property so at least that guy was not yelling.
Aw man come on! This is just great. I hate to say this but like JimLiElevators said this once, Elevator photography is becoming an energy crisis as in it's becoming harder to the ending point.....just like having a loss of energy power!
Yeah it's true, filming can be pretty hard sometimes, but hey this happened towards the end of the video. At least I wasn't caught right at the beginning, that would have been way worse.
@@Jamestube8439 Oh that was the most irritating part! Getting busted right at the beginning of the video is no fun at all. Has happened to me at least three times before. Elevator photography is indeed becoming like an energy crisis nowadays.
@@JimLiElevators Yeah I agree with you. It just gets harder and harder. For the most part if you keep your videos short you most likely won't have a problem (unless it's getting busted right at the beginning)
@@Jamestube8439 Well even keeping my videos short didn’t help anyways. All I can say is that security can come from any direction in any place at any time. You can’t even hear any approaches until they are literally at you.
@@JimLiElevators That's true, but if you in and out of the building quickly, you're less likely to get caught. Like in this situation, if I had finished sooner, I probably wouldn't have been approached.
I would have lost my mind and things go worse like cussing out at someone or something.
See that’s the problem some enthusiasts have. If you do that, they security might think you’re a threat. Our goal as elevator enthusiasts should be to not only respect the buildings we go into to film, but to also respect anyone we come across. Including security, if you turn violent and try to cuss or even assault them, then they could call the cops. If you comply and leave the building, then you should be fine. They can’t arrest you over photography.
@@Jamestube8439 I try to comply, but I usually leave and don’t swear at anyone until I fully leave the building
@@LVElevators1 Makes sense, at least you don't do it in front of them.
Key card readers in there.
RIP
