I met her about 7 years ago at Ralph's Grocery store off Saticoy. I started studdering when I 1st met saw her 😔...That was embarrassing because she told me to "Take a Breath". I did exactly what she said & had taken a breath & attempted to be cool. She laughed & gave me a hug. Very beautiful woman. She talked about how tough it was for Black Women to get good roles in Hollywood. Classy woman.
They can't even secure enough funds for even a single movie, much less a franchise. Female-led or female-ensemble projects to get near the same funding as male-led or mixed-ensemble projects. Being black only just makes it that more difficult. Remember Kelsey Grammar is who help to produce the show. They need white capital in order to produce a big budget movie or at something that doesn't look like a direct to dvd production. Fact is the democratization of American wealth doesn't exist. That's a longer conversation.

Especially where she's outshining a character like Madea lol Girlfriends worked because no one outshined one another BUT if you place one of those talents in a Perry where they're giving someone a run for their money, that may not work for Perry who mostly does lackluster scripts for unknown.
Thankfully for her, Girlfriends was put on Netflix. I’m sure that’s a good residual check for her and good exposure. She deserves so much. She is an unbelievably talented actress. Disregard her one liners and funny clap backs on girlfriends. Maya was emotional, sensitive, raw. The scene where Darnell says he’s leaving, broke me. The scene after the miscarriage was beautiful. She was so good.

I loved her in Girlfriends but I personally thought Jill Marie Jones was the finest at the time. Golden portrayed her character really well though. Appreciate this informative video updating us on Golden Brook's status. I was and still am a fan of this Lovely Queen. When I lived in Southern Cal during the early 2,000's, the show Girlfriend's was taped with a live audience at the UPN/Paramount studious on Sunset at Gower. The show taped on Tuesdays live and aired on Thursdays. It takes several hours to tape a half-hour show ( actually 20 mins of air time,) with dozens of breaks to set up the different camera angles and sets. During those breaks the cast members would often come to the audience railings and sign autographs and answer questions. Between the four main characters consisting of Golden Brook's, Persia White, Jill Marie Jones and Tracee Ellis Ross, the only two that were down to earth, friendly and reacted with the audience's were guess who? Golden Brook's and Persia White... Tracee and Jil-Marie would sit in chairs farthest away from the audience with their arms folded across their breast yet constantly watching Golden & Persia interact with the audience. I'm not gonna bad mouth JIll nor Tracee, yet I kinda lost my fondness for both. I was actually surprised by Jil because prior to her acting on that show she was a cheerleader for both the Dallas Mavericks and Cowboys. Actors don't owe us as fans anything in my opinion yet a simply hello holds some weight. Despite this I still enjoyed the show with all they're acting abilities, the content and the husband & wife producer team of Salim Akil & Mara Brock Akil. Once again thanks for the upload. Peace
Golden Brooks is an amazing actress and I love her work. I always enjoy rewatching Girlfriend's and she's one of my favorite on that series. How can we ever forget, "Oh HEELLLLLLLLL NO!" Miss Golden Brooks play her role as Maya on Girlfriends pretty good show back in the day in my opinion but when she was on LA Divas her ATTITUDE was HORRIBLE I guess y'all wanted to leave that part out for whatever reason. The way she talked to and treated Candice Vaughn also the other ladies like she was beneath them all smh I did NOT like it that's how you know you met the real Golden Brooks that's why she probably have not worked in a sturdy role since Girlfriends. The reason she did not get the role in Lethal weapon is because from what I read she was horrible when it came to reading the script they could not believe it also again her attitude and she was known as one of the mean girls in Hollywood back in the day, but again I guess y'all left that out for a reason I wish her nothing but the best I will always loved her ass Maya tho.

I personally have witnessed how much of a drama queen she was, full of attitude and feeling like the world owed her something. All are unattractive traits to those who really pay attention. Thats where shes been....home because its one thing to be pretty, but another thing when you difficult to work with.

Miss Golden Brooks play her role as Maya on Girlfriends pretty good show back in the day in my opinion but when she was on LA Divas her ATTITUDE was HORRIBLE I guess y'all wanted to leave that part out for whatever reason. The way she talked to and treated Candice Vaughn also the other ladies like she was beneath them all smh I did NOT like it that's how you know you met the real Golden Brooks that's why she probably have not worked in a sturdy role since Girlfriends. The reason she did not get the role in Lethal weapon is because from what I read she was horrible when it came to reading the script they could not believe it also again her attitude and she was known as one of the mean girls in Hollywood back in the day, but again I guess y'all left that out for a reason I wish her nothing but the best I will always loved her ass Maya tho.
