It was kishoreda who sang this line and that was the greatness of these people who had no ego one great accepted by the request of the other great
It was Amit Kumar’s voice not Kishore da. Anyone who really knows Kishore da’s voice can tell the difference. Lehren may be reporting on a good story about love and respect between the two legends but their assumption and maybe facts are wrong in thinking it was Kishore da’s voice for that one line.
Of course I can tell that was not kishore kumar voice and someone else. Recently I found out that that line was sung by amit kumar

Amit Kumar sang pretty well.. Just as he sang Laila O Laila for Amjad Khan in Qurbani. In his career, Amit Kumar sang plenty of songs for Amitabh, they all were stupendous hits. The song Chali Aana Tu Paan Ki Dukaan Par Saadhe Teen Baje in "Aaj Ka Arjun" and Oye Makhna in "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan" sounds more like Bachchan's own voice than Amitabh's own.
